Culture Martha Stewart, 82, slams ‘age-appropriate’ style rules: ‘I’ve dressed the same since I was 17’ - There's something smoking, and it's not the turkey...

Growing older: It’s a good thing.

Judging by her internet-breaking “thirst traps,” history-making Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover and ever-growing coterie of A-list pals, domestic doyenne Martha Stewart might just be in the prime of her life.

And at 82, Stewart’s got no plans to slow down — or switch up her style to suit traditional rules about “dressing for one’s age.”

“Dressing for whose age?” the multi-hyphenate quipped to Page Six Style on the red carpet at Tuesday’s Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala when asked about the subject.

“I don’t think about age. I think people are more and more and more [fabulous] than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them.”

Stewart was on hand to present her longtime friend Dennis Basso with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and further supported the designer by wearing one of his silver-sequined bouclé suits on the carpet — a more Plaza-appropriate take on the sultry, slit-up-to-there style she recently modeled on social media, and not entirely unlike the metallic gown she selected for the 2001 Met Gala more than two decades ago.

“I’ve dressed the same since I was 17,” the “Entertaining” author and former teen model told us. “If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same.”

It seems her nearly two million Instagram followers would agree.

“Martha still out here slaying!!” a fan commented on Stewart’s snaps in the aforementioned high-slit dress; “28 yes. 82 no. You’re absolutely stunning,” another added.

Age is just a number, as they say.

Will have to post the respective images of Stewart in another post, website won't let me copy/paste.

Now that's a woman that celebrates glamour while aging gracefully in style. You go.

Funny you say that, her fans were demanding that she dates 29 year old Pete Davidson. She laughs it off. Now, I sound like a teenager reading People Magazine.
Mark disagree all you want, its not toothless jim jawing at her neck with his gums its zack in his 20s giving her a hickey and getting scratch marks on his back in return. Shes totally being private about it.

It's not my business. This isn't TMZ, damn. Wish I was rich enough to date Martha Stewart.

I don't give a fuck if people find me fuckable at 82 (Jesus if I even make it that long) but if I can look half as good as Martha I'll consider that a win. People here are fixated on "fuckable" when really all that's being said is she looks great for her age and she's able to pull off her fashion choices. You people need to simmer down and quit debating on how fuckable a woman is at 82. Almost as unsettling watching people debate how fuckable a woman is the day she turns 18.

Over these parts, women are judged by how well they perform in bed.

Personally, if you want to look half as good as Martha Stewart when you reach that age: be happy, take care of yourself, diet, exercise, have a proper frame of mind. There are women over 50 that defy aging that show it off through personality, talent, and modesty.

Globally renowned businesswoman Martha Stewart made Sports Illustrated Swimsuit history Monday, as the 81-year-old was revealed as the oldest cover model in the publication’s history.

Stewart rose to fame in the 1980s when she began writing cookbooks after her success as a chef. Since those first cookbooks, Stewart is now the best-selling author to 99 books over the course of her career. She launched her magazine, Martha Stewart Living, in 1990.

View Martha Stewart’s full 2023 SI Swimsuit gallery here.

Stewart made a name for herself in other media as well, including television. Stewart founded Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, which encompasses her magazine and television shows, along with other media products. Throughout her media outlets, she reaches approximately 100 million fans per month.

Stewart currently hosts three programs on Roku: Martha Gardens, Martha Cooks and Martha Holidays. She also moderates The Martha Stewart Podcast, where she interviews various business leaders, along with friends, in their respective fields.

Stewart opened her first restaurant in August 2022: The Bedford by Martha Stewart, which is located at Paris Las Vegas.

As SI Swim deemed her the “OG of influencers,” people still look to Stewart for home advice. She lists various home, kitchen, dining, fashion and lifestyle products on her website, Martha.com, along with an Amazon storefront.

Stewart is also a proud mother and grandmother.

Her whole team deserves props; congrats to Martha Stewart for making history for women everywhere.

Does she look good at 82? Fuck yeah she does, but if you've got infinite money to spend on live-in chefs, personal trainers, plastic surgery, and you look like Nancy fucking Pelosi, you've probably got some bad habits.

The reason you're supposed to dress more conservatively as you age is you're supposed to acknowledge a personal maturation away from the need for revealing clothing, by the time you're in your 50's and beyond, you should be secure enough financially and professionally that you don't have to get attention with flaunting your body, even if it still looks good.

Or at least that's what my Mom would probably say... she was from a generation that took decorum VERY seriously.

Me? Wear what you want, I don't care.

I'll say this. It's her or Hillary Clinton. Clinton is too shrewd for my tastes; Stewart provides those vibes I saw with Hillary but much more tasteful, respectful and sexy with her personality and culinary skills.

I'm taking this as a personal W. Especially given today's world. Let me have this.
You're welcome to have this.

I'm not certain that every time you find a new old lady to try and fuck that you need to post a thread on KF about it, though.

Sure, I can see that. But I think your statement proves Martha's point with "age appropriate" clothing. She's a successful woman in her fields, which grants her the freedom (and luxury, admittedly) to express herself freely. If she dressed like that all the time, I could further understand where you're coming from. She has the knowledge and wisdom to dress conservatively and let loose however she sees fits.

I think of it like you dress up for work, then when you're at home or vacation, you can wear casual clothing like pajamas around the house. From what I see, she can pull off the subtle risqué look based on her modeling experience without being outright abrasive. At 82 nonetheless.

isnt she too old for middle age crisis? I mean 82 is way past that . Also lol dressing up same is bs most of her outfits are usually worn by 50+ year old crowd .

Where are you getting that assertion?
outfits posted her and on instagram . Its always either multiple layers completly covering her or boxy dresses that cover and hide most of her geriatric body. Her style is very obvious of an aging woman. someone sperging about high slit picture in her appartment is just assholes , that dress is boxy and mostly covering her arms, body etc. Go look any woman fashions for 20 something year olds for the past 60 years is always clothing hugging their body and showing as much as possible skin.

If they ain't fuckin' they're defintely baking some brownies.
Some special indica brownies.

I'll give Last Stand this one. Martha Stewart ain't bad looking for her age. If looks could evade taxes, she'd have them.

Just found out she was dumb enough to get a chow chow. Never mind. She ugly.

Looks fine to me. More natural, the better.

Martha was a classy feminist role model. An American Dream story. She worked hard and was resilient. She didn't let the bastards hold her back. Martha was successful and admired for what she could do, not for what she looked like. Why she'd sully her hard won image and add being a geriatric sex kitten to that legacy is mystifying. And really disappointing.

I guess when you've literally done it all, that's a last frontier to conquer? Becoming a libfem sex pozz symbol too? Becoming a decadent and oblivious GILF showing off the exclusive benefits of your wealth? If she wasn't so artificially enhanced she'd almost pull it off. But she's as uncanny valley as your average somewhat passing troon there. Ew.
