Marvel on the PS1 - "I'm already at full health!"

I had the first Xmen mutant academy. I remember everyone had alternate costumes like the Actors in the first live action Xmen movie. And that you had to unlock the Brotherhood characters through arcade mode.

I still can hear in my head Wolverine entering the screen and shouting "Special Delivery"

I revisited the Spider-Man PS1 game because of the PS4 game and sadly it doesn't hold up, eventually things started getting real tedious and I just used cheat codes to visit various levels.

It's a real shame because it was an amazing game in it's day and there's a lot of nostalgia, but the gap between it and the PS4 game is massive, it's weird how some old games hold up and some simply don't, because there's not really a clear formula as to why, you just know it when you play it if something is still fun or not.

At least the PS1 versions of Black Cat and Mary Jane are way hotter than in the PS4 game though.

Never got to play any PS1 Marvel games, but did enjoy Marvel vs Capcom, X-Men vs Street Fighter, and the X-Men arcade game.

Now, PS2, I really enjoyed X-Men Legends. The sequel didn't hook me in though. Spiderman games were neat, though I never finished them. Too busy finding the highest building to jump off of.

Fun fact, I've only ever played the first Spiderman PS1 game. For various reasons I never played any of the sequels or remakes/relaunches or whatever else. Anyway, yeah, that first game was quite enjoyable to me. Weren't some of the characters voiced by the same people who voiced them in that animated series awhile back?

Speaking of Spiderman, I recently played the Spiderman Web of Fire game on the 32x on the Everdrive. It was the last game released on the 32x and a small print number was made due to Sega entirely dropping 32x. Those digitized graphics didn't aged well.

PARKER HATES IT WHEN I GET THE DROP ON HIM.
I hate it when he gets the drop on me!

EDIT: I have a lot of nostalgia towards the PS1 Spider-Man games. Enter Electro was my introduction to Spider-Man in general. Although looking back, it isn't quite as good as the first game. For me, the number of characters, cameos and general feel of the game trumps whatever the second game had.

Looking back I can definitely see why people would have a hard time going back to either games. But goddamn were they great for their time. You could really tell for the first game in particular that a lot of love and passion was put into it.

Anyone remember What If mode?

I really miss when devs put silly shit like this in. Everything just feels all corporate and sanitized now.
