I know that a lot of people have enjoyed meme'ing on the crew due to them being pajeets but it seems like they did follow procedure for the situation. They were able to declare a Mayday the moment they lost power which allowed the local police to close up the bridge preventing civilians from getting killed. While it is awful that six construction workers lost their lives it also could have been much worse if the crew didn't know what to do in the situation. This was a freak accident. Sucks but it happens.

The ship was still way too old to be in service and/or not in good shape, no? this kind of thing usually does not happen without repeated incompetence over many years. It may not have been the fault of the 'jeets but someone else didn't keep things in order, and I have to guess they weren't western. Ships Singaporean and as others have said, not an amazing track record. Everything's been in a race to the bottom for decades. This isn't just a case of murphy's law.
I wouldn't say it was a completely freak accident if the ship wasn't being properly maintained by its owners, but yeah it sounds like the crew didn't do anything wrong if it lost power or otherwise had a serious malfunction.
It would appear that the anchor was deployed, see bottom right of the attached picture. Don't know if happened before or after the ship hit the bridge. If they deployed the anchor in a last ditch attempt to stop the boat, it could explain why in the video - it appears that the stern of the boat is swinging to the right while the bow is going to the left.
Only thing that would make this better if that guy calls in this every week anytime a ship gets a bit ducky, and they always play along because eh why not.
What percentage of posters here have actually been claiming this is some terror attack, exactly? I haven't read through all 50 pages of a thread that invites politisperging, but the first few didn't have been seeing that as a common narrative.
MTA dispatch. I am sure they have Channel 16 in their dispatch center because the harbor is their responsibility. They dispatched units to block the bridge but sadly it sounds like they didn't have any contact info for the crew working on their bridge.
Sometimes it's best to treat these things as just one of those tragic incidents that occured and sometimes you can do everything right and people still die.
The crew was from Sri lanka, India, and Bangladesh. As for the ship it was an older maserk style ship and probably near the end of its lifespan. Second the deaths of innocent's were avoided, a Mayday call to The harbor and quick thinking by BMP saved lives. The only people who died were the construction crew. While tragic it is expected as part of the job that you might end up being a tragedy.
Look the shitting on pajeets shit gets old but I get it. As for the situation you have to remember 20% of the people are just drunk kingJFS level of intellect types screaming into their camera.
