Mass Effect General Thread

I think people are forgetting the proto-gamergate response from game journalists stating the dumb gamer rubes are wrong about mass effect 3 and how dare you criticize a multibillion dollar company like EA.
Yeah, there was a ton of screeching about us lowly gamers daring to question BioWare's artistic vision.

Would be cool to go back to the first contact war or play through the times where we first encounter other aliens in M.E.
We are unlikely to see that, there will be some plotline surrounding troons, niggers and neurodivergent retards in the spotlight for 'muh inclusiveness' totally ignoring the dozens of literal alien races with their own appearance, cultures and values.

All they will realistically do is shoehorn in some extreme leftist bullshit which makes everyone roll their eyes, sigh and ignore the game after which they'll scream bigotry/racism again.

That's basically the cycle of modern day™ games

Is that going to be their "compromise" or "work around" for now ?

pretending they are dropping the woke shit only to add it back with patches, clearly after the refund window has passed?

I fucking hate this company and I fucking hate this industry. If they truly do that, I hope Bioware legit gets shutdown, fucking manipulative pricks.
As plausible as it is for BioWare to pull that shit, this still reeks of “source: trust me bro.”

I run on the mentality "It could be fake but, knowing Bioware, would it surprise anyone if they actually tried this?"

It goes to show how low trusting we all became with this very industry that something this anti-consumer wouldnt be out of the question to us.

Knowing reddit's reputation, either they removed it because it was that fake...or that true.
It sounds retarded, because why would you do these things just to drive away people that would otherwise buy your games?

But... yeah, I can believe it because game developers in real life have become complete morons determined to burn their houses down just to, what, "own the chuds"?

Maybe its a case of them having this talk with Blackrock

"We will add the woke and checklists, but you gotta be patient as we will add that through patches, we swear. By then, the reviews and most day 1 sales will have arrived, it will be safe to do so as most of them wont be able to refund it anymore by then."

And Blackrock, being the hive of jewish scum and villany, would go along with it because why the F not, they need to change with the times as people are doing the "noticing" thing now.
Remember what Bioware used to be?.. and look how far they've fallen.

God damn it, I miss Renegade Shep.

The older I get, the more enticing the prospect of being this shamelessly ruthless dick becomes..

Like I get being mad but it's been years. Borderlands 3 fucking sucked but I don't rage about that 5 years later even though I regret purchasing that and will not support gearbox ever again

I memba', all those melodramatic 'Gamers are DEAD' headlines because people dared to dislike the amazing artistic vision of Casey Hudson and Hack Walters which reduced the Reapers to this:

I also remember when Bioware finally acknowledged the backlash and they were like 'ok so a tInY vOcAl mInOrItY disliked the ending but the rest of the game was 10/10 GOTY amirite guise?'. And lolno, the ending was just so hilariously awful it completely overshadowed how mediocre the rest of the game was.

How different would things have turned out if anyone, freaking anyone but Mac Walters had spearheaded the plot for ME2 and ME3. Yes I know at that time bioware was restructuring due to having being eaten up by EA.

this. ME3 shits the bed right out of the gate. sudden mars deus-ex machina? a fucking austin powers infiltration sexbot? also "bro the reapers are coming" when they were literally years out in dark space in mass effect 1. the WHOLE FUCKING POINT of mass effect 1 was disabling their mass-relay shortcut into the galaxy in form of the citadel. me1 is completely fucking pointless when you go "oh well they could've just flown in the conventional way and then roll over the galaxy that way". and don't get me started on "yeah bro those super advanced beings beyond anyone's grasp are so butthurt about you cockblocking them using the citadel they didn't really need anyway they're now coming for earth".
those same super advanced beings are also so fucking stupid not blowing up the mcguffin when it goes for the citadel SOMETHING THEY KNEW BECAUSE THE ILLUSIVE MAN DID.

it's all so fucking dumb. but it had some good writing resolving some arcs and providing answers giving people feels, which is why they are willing to overlook everything else but the end for some reason.

That just means it will be easy to patch out again. Stuff that isn't in the base game usually doesn't have nearly as many issues being patched out as base game mechanics and dependencies. Do they really think they will be able to patch a game and not have people tear the update apart and know exactly what the delta is for each file that is updated? Once they know what each part of the update is, they just make an unofficial patch that undoes the original delta that added garbage, and leave the ones that are actually useful.

They really think they are smarter than they are, or that gamers are far more retarded than they actually are. Maybe both.

I'm back playing ME2 on Insanity after a month of hiatus. I hate how mentally challenged your AI squadmates can be. They are a waste of medi-gel.
Also I wonder why there's a 3D model of GERTY from the movie Moon used like kitbash in that room.

There are mods that will actually vastly improve the companion AI, and even the AI of your enemies. It can make it quite challenging.

That incredibly stupid reddit ass looking cyber ninja Long Dong or whatever was the most offensive thing in ME3 to me.

He looked like an Overwatch character many years before Overwatch existed.

He also does that thing I fucking hate multiple times where you kick his ass in actual gameplay but then he beats you in a post fight cutscene because he's just so badass and cool.

So im currently replaying mass effect trilogy on insanity because i dont love myself and i have a question:

Havent played Andromeda and i heard the game is shit, but does it have anything lore wise that i may care about or can i ignore it and carry on?

It usually just mentions stuff about the main Trilogy but lorewise there is hardly anything new or worth referencing that's not already spoken of in the original games.

Not to forget; the game is still buggy as fuck and has a recycled plotline and it's badly implemented as well.

It really isn't a good game but if you feel like playing a downgraded Mass Effect cause you love the lore and story it will be the same but (slightly) worse in almost every aspect.

I feel like you didn't play 2 because they have a whole dlc about this
I'm not a cuck that pays extra for story crucial content. if it's that important add it to the base game.

besides, arrival came out a year before me3, it doesn't matter if you slap a shitty retcon at the end of the previous game (which desperately needed bigger plot relevance anyway) or the sequel, shit writing is shit writing.

The arrival doesn't retcon anything, it was an attempt to bridge the end of ME2 with how Shepard inexplicably has gone back to the Alliance Navy and handed over everything (ship, crew, data, resources). There never was a genuine intention to hold a direct continuity between the games, the priority was always going to be "get to this location with your dudes and shoot the endless waves of cerberus troops, because Action Game".

I've been replaying the ME series thanks to this thread (up to ME2 now) and .... I don't want to repeat what other people have said (for example, ME2 narratively doesn't make any sense in any shape or form, ME1's gameplay is almost endearing in being developed by people that clearly didn't know how to make action games) but there are some small things that amused me immensely, mostly because they show how 2000-2010 ME was.

- The first Asari of importance you met, the Consort, gets fucked in roughly 5 minutes after a trivial side-quest. I fully understand the race of space sluts had to make a good first impression, but Shepars fucks their premiere prostitute living in the center of galactic power after an inconsequential sidequest.

- The weebery. The Noveria jap in ME1 and Kasumi in ME2 are so charmingly, charmingly 2000-era American weeb. ME has essentially no cultural baggage for humanity (well, they're Americans because the developers are, so military-obsessed mutts, doesn't matter if Bioware is theoretically Canadian) but it's so charming to see the jap honorifics and the gratuitous jap thrown in because you know some writer was feeling enlightened. No other culture from Earth exists in ME, because all humans are essentially the same.

- In ME2 all the females of importance in your crew have skin-tight armour and suits that costantly get put in your face in cutscenes. They did censor Miranda in the Legendary Edition, but only because she was the most noticeable, but it's constant. That would never fly nowadays.

- It's also noticeable how they needed orcs. They made the Krogan in ME1 but they got their tragic backstory and noble savage spiel, so we needed more orcs and we got the Batarians (North Korea in SPAAACE) but that wasn't enough so we created essentially sentient space vermin in the Vorcha so you can shoot space orcs that aren't really people and we can keep the Krogan for plotlines.

- Eugenics are amazing, Grunt and Miranda prove that they work and they're proper.

I remember the crowbcat video as well as the pic of the dev holding a mug with "white tears" on it and the cancelled DLC, but I have to ask:

Is Andromeda worth a shit at 5$ and modded to shit after all these years?

Is it atleast on par with ME3?
