Here is the block list that helped put mastodon.social administration on the map as a bunch of pretentious, german cows. One of the Mastodon blocklists makes it a point to explain it uses the suffix "-misia" because "-phobia" doesn't denote hate.

The resources page consisting of right wing watch orgs... and Shit Reddit Says.
Someone should ask Crunklord to clone that into the KF git. Registration seems disabled.
I specifically remember one instance ban by Mastodon.social was because a user on another instance said of a politician: "I bet he doesn't even fap to traps."

Here is another defunct list.

You may get some laughs browsing the git repository.

So if they defederate a server, does that mean you can see them but not you?
Generally, yes, but there's also a "secure mode" enabled on some servers which blocks any post fetch requests without a signature or with a signature of a blocked server. Thankfully, it's rather trivial to bypass by an instance admin by creating a dud instance and signing fetches from there, but I've seen only one guy successfully doing that before getting exposed.

some instances that are obviously defederating half the network don't display their block lists. is there a different way to view what instances are blocked by a server? fba.ryona.agency allows you to check whats instances are blocking your server but not the reverse.

Not unless they have their list elsewhere. fba seems to simply crawl blocklists of various instances, all of which have to be public in a first place.

And now for something interesting that Pistolero snuffed out.
After a user named Lain appeared on pl.abdl.space and was listed by Listbot, he found Eugen Rochko's (you know, Mastodon's developer?) alter-ego on that node.
Turns out Eugen's a big baby.

What the fuck is up with all these grown ass men wearing fucking nappies? AND what gets me even more is almost all of these nappy wearing faggots are eco-warriors.

Nappies/Diapers are absolutely awful for the environment yet these faggots will lecture other people about daring to use a plastic straw whilst they themselves are unnecessarily strapping their faggot ass into a shit tonne of plastic, shitting in it and then throwing it in the bin.

With retch-worthy fetishes like this, it's participants try to start things to get people off their trail, expecting the fetishist's chaos to be worse than the fetishist themselves.

Never understood that myself. They seem to ignore inferior materials (e.g. paper, foam) and arbitrary restriction measures (IoT reliance, DRM schemes) all the time, despite making a tonne of unnecessary waste.
Also, China and India have no waste management and result in being major plastic polluters (as their mindset to managing waste is "let the river take care of it"), yet the first world nations with waste management schemes are browbeat for polluting oceans with plastics all the time despite having scant involvement at most.

Mastodon needs to either drop the pretense of federation, or advance the protocol to a point where you can take your followers with you to another instance at will. Otherwise it's just twitter 2.0 where you're still at the mercy of whatever fag is the jannie of the instance you chose. Hosting your own is not a possibility for 99% of people using it, even though it's pretty easy.

Been seeing alot of twitter fags seething about the Musk purchase (many with 100k+ tweets) trying to suggest Mastodon as an alternative. This one in particular is funny.View attachment 3810704
And these pictures right here are why, like most others on this thread, refer to this as the ResetEra of social media sites. Somehow, Mastodon makes Reddit in current day look slightly tolerable. Though, I don’t want to give them too much credit.

The owner of the Fediverse hugbox for journos has been scraping other hosts to find out which other instances have been blocking or suspending his own.

The best bit is that he didn't check the original source of the script before he started using it and posting screenshots all over his hugbox, which have since been deleted.

Unfortunately there are no archives of the actual posts where he proudly showed off his handiwork, but I at least managed to archive his mea culpa.

Journos really are the scum of the earth.
