Sylvia van Os from chaos.social is crying over Google's new Google Play policy allowing everyone to see the dev's full legal names and addresses. Of course this is trans genocide, because their apps will be tied to their deadnames, and spelling out the deadname is one of the ways to kill the demon. I wanted to post this to tranny sideshows but she might actually be a real dutch woman (i'm not sure). I'm not a fan of this policy either, but it's fascinating to see how these people think only about the cult. Obviously, a lot more people (every independent developer) will be doxxed because of that policy. But will somebody please think about the manchildren! The poor troons that will be doxxed. I like this cherrypicked approach in creating a narrative.

I don't really follow this whole Fediverse BS but this came across my line of sight and I thought it might be of interest to someone here at the very least.

Apparently there is a fediverse blocklist out there called "The Bad Space". According to their homepage (A) they exist to help fediverse instance admins quickly weed out and block other fediverses that post the usual -ist and -phobic shit that these people just can't bear to deal with. However apparently they recently added tech.lgbt onto their master list and this caused a bit of an uproar because as you might imagine that instance is filled with queers and troons who post about tech nonsense and there are over 4,000 users there who would all be automatically blocked by anyone who uses The Bad Space.

Some loon, going by a throwaway account (A), decided to get to the bottom of this trans travesty and went through each and every entry on The Bad Space (of which there are over 1,300) to see their reasons for inclusion. They cherry picked a number of "suspicious" entries and made a NeoCities page (A) to show their findings. There are a number of queer fediverse instances that wound up getting filtered out so this anonymous person cries foul and says that The Bad Space's efforts would look not unlike something designed by us to block out trans women.

The whole thing comes off as a super petty and frivolous, but when I went to archive the NeoCities page I was given a pop-up that said someone's already archived it a few hours ago so I guess this is starting to make the rounds.

Anyways, there you go. My contribution to this thread.

Troons are too stupid to understand that anyone pulling shit like this is also going to use it for petty vengeance on their own personal enemies, too. They fully support censorship. They are completely dumbfounded when it happens to them, though.

This guy is not a troon afaik, that's why so many troons on #FediBlock and #FedblockMeta hashtags (lol) accuse him of transphobia, while he accuses troons of racism.
It's honestly kino, guy didn't even pick those instances by hand, he literally downloaded blocklists published by other big, "trusted" (by whom?) instances, some of them owned by troons themselves. And as you can imagine, all fedi admins are petty jannies, so those blocklists are full of personal vendettas with no block reasons stated.
It leads to funny situations where instance X is on a blocklist (because "trusted" instance Y is blocking them), but at the same time, instance X is also a blocklist provider.
So troons are attacking some dumbass black guy over blocklists mostly created by neurotic, petty troons wow

Came here to introduce Ro/@Are0h to the boards as well as I checked up on The Bad Space this evening and his name cropped up immediately. I think you guys have sussed him out pretty well, he is a black man accusing troons of racism and thus he added a few notable trans fediverses into his blocklist project. This in turn caused the troons to cry transphobia. I love it when the heckin' valid minority groups get into some infighting. :biggrin:

Say what you want about block lists and fediblock culture but the current badspace drama is a complete and utter nothingburger. Best i can tell, there aren't many (if any at all) instances that actually implement the bad space's blocklist nor has anyone actually defedded tech.lgbt over it being in the blocklist in the first place.

Take other blocklists such as fedifence or olliphant for example. Typically if an admin blindly imports one of these list, they'll mention the list in the block reason like so

As it currently stands however, theres a grand total of 1 instance that mentions the bad space as the reason for blocking an instance (apart from people blocking ro's instance because they're cut about the bad space existing)

Taking a peak at tech.lgbt specifically, theres been around 3 instances that have defederated from them since the start of september (when this shit storm first started), none of these defeds list the bad space as a reason, and none of the instances defedding them are the sorts of big fag ones that would use a centralised blocklist in the first place.

Now, there are instances that don't broadcast who they block so there could be a non zero amount of instances that have wholesale imported the bad space block list but for the most part, it's unlikely enough to where it's a non-issue. i really am inclined to believe it's just people of persecution complex making a mountain out of an ant hill as always.

Considering what is at stake here, I think your name and address should absolutely be visible.

Its also really easy to circumvent, just start a company and register the App with that.

Google makes money mostly off ads. Scam apps still generate ad revenue from which google gets a cut, so they let it slide until now probably because of regulatory pressure.
 
Imagine trying to convince a normal person to use mastodon. Never mind how to actually register on an instance, just why you'd even bother to figure it out in the first place. Imagine trying to explain to your uncle who has his own plumbing business, or the cute receptionist at your work what mastodon is for and why they should go there.

Even though they'd all go on to be unusable cesspools once they got big enough, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the like all had pretty easy to understand value propositions early on. You want to stay in touch with people you know in real life, you sign up for facebook. If you want to follow the latest news and hear directly from celebrities, you sign up for twitter. The only use for mastodon appears to be to get embroiled in the politics and infighting of mastodon.
