I don't think it's a honeypot. Jester is paranoid and the people there are either scared of Russia or like it because they get more attention. They don't federate with other instances and are harmless.

Laurelai and RobotAnna are going at it.

Archive and screenshot aren't working for some reason but it doesn't matter. Two lolcows bringing in their grudges to a new social media site. Mastodon sure is getting some great new users from the Twitter purge.

Deplatform all who disagree on this decentralized service.

Anna used to be a friend and defender of Laurelai until the evidence was overwhelmingly against Wes.

It’s so funny how these guys can’t escape those they hate even when they’re in their walled off safe spaces.

Furries, lefties and trannies never stop fighting.

Mastodon's problem has been account portability and no groups. If you're mod bans a site with people you like it's hard to pack up and leave. idgaf about the ratkings but the site is useless at finding people who like the same stuff as you

Yeah. I mean, they have had their ups and downs trough the years. I loved Blood Mountain and The Hunter, but Emperor of Sand felt like triying to reach to a mass audience that might never care for them, and really Remission ain't that great if you back to check... hold on, wrong Mastodon. Shit, I have to save face... ehhh.... The Left Can't Meme, am I rite?

Here's the instance the NASA troon used, it's literally a troon furry Mastodon instance:

As you'd expect it has a vague restrictive terms of service, but the fun part is the fact that to join, you have to fill out a Google Form. Now what info do they ask for on this form you might be wondering?

You essentially have to give the owner every social media account you have, and that's not the best part. He's a paranoid tranny admin who moans about "ugh trolls" and "ugh my job".

Oh for sure, blocking instances is an issue that flies in the face of the whole decentralized social media model. Twister for example is a similar type of social network that runs based on a blockchain model, and that's truly decentralized (even though nobody uses it outside of Russians and extreme freetards). Then you have Mastodon (along with GNUSocial/Pleroma) and well, if you make an account at an instance that allows for more freedom of speech you can get expected to be blocked from a lot of other Mastodon instances. Social media networks got big because you could connect with your friends, and at least in a walled garden you were able to expect that. It also suffers from the userbase problem every other smaller social media platform suffers from, since nobody is going to see a reason to make an account on Mastodon if it's a dead platform when compared to the big walled gardens.

Then you have the fact that the admins of these instances can be the opposite of being chill and laid back, being super paranoid of trolls.

He's either a fed or a some kind of boomer: democrat edition. I respect his abilities and the fact he goes after Islamists but he's also gone after 4chan and WikiLeaks because of being butthurt about Hillary being a failure and thinking those sites are full of Russians.

He needs to take a chill pill sometimes.

I just signed up
wasn't even on for five fucking minutes and ran into this gem

the user is a troon, of course

Did the "screenshotting and harassing our instance" have anything to do with us?? I know a few of us were sharing screenshots of "Naomi"'s posts on his account in the thread about him getting fired from the NASA internship including me. Or was it just the mombot thing?

I'm sorta okay with this. If the REEEEEE crowd wants to block people who can joke around that's fine with me. I don't care if the specials need their hugbox if they're not deplatforming other people.

"If you are good at something never do it for free"
- Some capitalist pig.

The new wave has been a mixed bag. Most posters are slowly realizing that these people were banned from Twitter for a reason.

I used to think decentralization was the future of free social media. idk anymore but the alternatives are are a trash fire too

What i don't understand is how they fail to see that pushing for decentralised technology is diametrically opposed to their interests.
Hey guys lets make a social network that corporate fascist moderators can't censor! - Oh no! Nazis are using our platform for their own purposes, and we cannot cen- deplatform them!

This has happened before with Zeronet, TOR and IPFS, TOR's bugzilla even has the occasional "severe bug" that stormfront is still accessible and that every floodfill needs to blacklist it. Zeronet doesn't even have hosts to threaten into deleting sites, they just keep existing for as long as an online user has it cached.

Because a central authority isn't a thing among commies in magical real communism. They thought that if they made a socialist open-source site, everyone would join them and realize white males were the problem the entire time. Yeah, it's delusional but it's how commies think.

Just like Twitter a lot of them have nothing else to talk about except discourse and are eager to have a take on everything. The admins can be the worst and need to wade into every stupid small disagreement. At least Jack Dorsey tries to stay above the fray by rarely posting.

Z-list celebrities like Anil Dash and Wil Wheaton and if anyone can be a bitch among nerds is Wesley Crusher.
