TGWTG Mathew Buck / Film Brain / @FB_BMB - Whiny self-sabotaging British film reviewer, bald as Prince William, thick as Prince Harry. Welshy made him watch porn. He was not pleased. Accidentally took his mum to a sex flick. SYMBOLISM!1!1!1!

What is it with Swindon and internet blowhards?
I think Larry Bundy Jr is what FB could have been if he had charisma or talent.
Larry's past as an EDiot and Christorian are well-documented. He lowkey backed Gamergate and Brexit, as well.

For better or worse, his politics overshadow the work. I just don't see him finding an audience in Current Year outside of that crowd.

From what I've seen, he's pretty content with where he is.

Really? I never knew about any of that but it makes sense. He comments on tons of YouTube stuff of course he’d be a Christorian.

Well, this image is not going to attract new subscribers.

So Film Brain got a mention in OneyNG's Slightly Artistic video, where he draws caricatures of the cast of Kickassia with Harry Partridge.
And funnily enough, they draw him desperately holding onto the Nostalgia Critic, seems fitting.

i know it's not exactly related, but the Brad Jones drawing is my favorite.

I was bored, so I decided to see how many Bad Movie Beatdowns he's done over the years. https://thatguywiththeglasses.fandom.com/wiki/Bad_Movie_Beatdown *= also includes review of best and worst films of that year

So yeah, this confirms that he pretty much stopped doing Bad Movie Beatdown when he had to transition from Blip to Youtube.

Which is baffling to me I’ve seen other channels use clips in their reviews and gain revenue through Patreon instead of add cents.

This was most likely the case of Buck following the trend of other CA personalities changing how they made their videos when Blip started going down the shitter. Phelous went from Horror movies to animated ripoffs, Allison went from Obscurus Lupa Presents to Movie Nights, Mike J went from Shameful Sequels to Informericalism, and Cinema Snob went from Exploitation films to Christian films just to name a few. These creators do have patreons as well, but they went with a significant change to the way they made videos. Another reason could be that Buck might genuinely want to be a serious film critic, but the issue is his audience just isn't interested.

Some CA members like Phelous and Brad made better content after the move to YouTube. Bad animated movies and Christian films are a lot easier to rip on and have more mainstream appeal with audiences.

I think a problem with FB is he’ll review any film. A lot of successful reviewers have a niche when it comes to certain films they’ll review. Nostalgic films made Doug popular—he may not have succeeded if he just reviewed any film that came out.

I mean, the OP said that Projector focused on shit that comes out in the UK first....except that British cinema doesn't really cross over the Atlantic like music does. Maybe if he focused his show on that, he could have found a niche. Instead, he just wants to chase the algorithm and wait for views to fall into his lap.

He tried talking about small British films before and it didn't work for him. This tweet just shows how much he's fallen that less than 5000 views was a bomb for him 10 years ago, now he's lucky to get even half of much views for any Projector review. https://archive.md/yGZvP
