In isolation, selling off possessions like this wouldn’t make me think so. When you know he has tax liens and also suddenly shuts down the brick and mortar location that gave him both an edge and a respite from the cutthroat online trade, well, it doesn’t inspire confidence in their financial situation.
In combination with making their teenage son “manager” of the business, I have a feeling the chickens are coming home to roost. Imagine ever thinking that opening up multiple legal cases was the thing to do when the government already has fucking liens on your property.

It's an odd move. Rocklin is kind of whatever, anywhereville usa. It looks like the housing market there is a little more expensive than Nevada City somehow?

NC is a lot more scenic, and they probably get tourist traffic from spring to fall. Given the choice, Nevada City looks a hell of a lot more pleasant. Placer county is still a hell of a lot better than Sacramento though. But NC feels like the kind of place that is impossible to insure in California these days. Assuming they're buying, it's maybe a weird move, but that's par for the course for Vickers.
Double checking the coin shop on public records, well, they're current on their property taxes, and I'm not paying to find out who owns the building. Given there are other tenants, and I don't remember Vickers crowing about owning the building, maybe the lease just ran out? Might as well move someplace a little nicer or more chill? IDK

Speculation, but maybe the building landlord put the rent up in the new year or the first of February, and Vickers couldn't keep up with it? Commercial rents are going up just as fast, if not faster than residential rents and mortgages.
