so Max wrote 150 pages about Carly Rae Jepsen. there's a crappy website, or you can just download a pdf. the tl;dr version of "the Jepsen pattern" is that there's a three-act story that all of her songs, including cover songs, tell over and over and over again.

Max Landis said:
“A BRIEF DOOMED UP/DOWN (?) SECRET (?) SEXUAL/ROMANCE WITH PLATONIC MALE FRIEND ULTIMATELY ENDING IN HIS REJECTION OF HER (???)”

he acknowledges that like 99% of pop songs are about the same things, but her repetitiveness is different.

edit: can't forget the video introduction!

So does Max hang out with Gave Navarro? They same to share common artistic influences.

Didn't Max Landis produce (?) the Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency TV show? It wasn't terrible, though there were a LOT of cringe-worthy HIP WITH THE TEENZ moments.

Yes he is credited as the creator and writer.

The books were pretty good, I enjoyed them. But Max Landis' involvement with the show is the reason why I never bothered to watch.

He made a video with decently high production value, and wrote all that shit just to say something that could be summed up in a tweet? Why? The website doesn't even have ads as far as I can see, so he's not even making a few pennies from that.

Is he hoping that some producer will see what a brilliant artist he is and give him a job off of this? Off of some generic "I'm so crazy and wacky, look at me reading too much into a pop artist" thing? The only question that it inspires is why did he think that this was worth the time and his father's money that it took to create it.

It was OK as a TV show. There were a lot of racially diverse actors. I don't remember any trannies. There were some cringey hipstery moments that felt like they were straight out of a Bon Iver song. But most of it was pretty good.

He doesn't need a job offer, he's a trust funder who has free time and is quickly aging. He's going to get real funny in about 5 years when he can't keep playing the spaz.

Oh. This guy. I tend to fluctuate between thinking he's alright and hating his guts. All things considered, I think he's a genuinely interesting dude with interesting ideas, but is bogged down by his ego and obsession with being seen as unconvential.

Aside from his BotW appearance (which I didn't think was all that bad), I know him from one other thing, both of which sums up my issues with him as a writer.

His creepypasta, which starts off well enough before being ruined by an unneeded change in tone. Hopefully the solid narration will make it an enjoyable listen.

His work screams try hard, to the point where it brings a :autism:Doctor Who:autism: quote to mind: "He'd get dizzy if he tried to walk in a straight line."

If I ever dress up as or have a haircut like Max, punch me in the goddamn face.

As I think I've said, I do enjoy some of his work and he's actually kind of a creative influence. However, he's a pretty controversial guy and can say some douchey things, so I think that at least warrants him a thread.

Rich is enough of a snarky curmudgeon to get away with his awful laugh. Jack should never have existed.

I don't know enough about Josh to comment but I don't understand why anyone thinks Jack could qualify as a cow. I watch pre-rec while I'm playing games or whatever bestuse I like hearing them gibber about movies and stuff, the only time I recall it getting political was during election season when they said they'd talk politics for a bit just because the chat wanted to so badly; Jack's position was that he got why people didn't like Hillary but he personally would vote for her because she was the best option for what he wanted in a candidate.

So if there's twitter archives out there where he's ranting about nazis or advertising his okcuckold dating profile, then I get it. But just because he has what is a mainstream opinion of the 2016 election and it's too liberal for you, that doesn't make him a cow. (I get if people think he's not entertaining but my personal preference is I like hearing him and Rich talk about games and films, personal preference.)

I do think it's great that for all his nepotism powers, Max Landis is so subsumed by an appearance on a small-time internet film review site that they overshadow him even in his own lolcow thread.

Jack is not a lolcow, and I feel he's a worthwhile member of RLM in general, but man, are his personal views (beyond even politics) just infuriating. Since it's mostly just him and Rich Evans brainfarting through most Pre-Rec uploads, that's where the worst of it comes out.

There was one with Rich's sister, I believe, and man, you could make a topic here on that video alone. Sadly, you're right, that these are mainstream opinions, but that doesn't make them not worth ridiculing.
I stopped watching Pre-Rec after that, because I couldn't take anymore of it.

It should be applauded though that Rich and Jack seemingly hold totally inverse opinions, and none of the streams devolve into screaming or hate for one another. It's like they're mature grown ups and respect their friendship past such stupid notions.

That's exactly why Jack isn't a cow.

Josh makes so little of an impression, I barely even know who he is, despite seeing him all the time. If anyone should be cut, start there.
