I've noticed he uploaded two Youtube videos a month ago.

I was surprised he would still try to be in the spotlight at all after getting #MeToo'd.

Some people get addicted to that spotlight, and they just have to dance in its shine until they realize it's just the headlights of a helicopter about to crash on top of them.

The dude clearly loves the sound of his own voice and would talk about pop culture even if no one was watching I guess.

This is tangentially related but Shudder (streaming service for horror films) started a series on Cursed Films (films that had troubled production). And the latest episode is about the Twilight Zone movie. Will report back after I've seen it. But I've heard that they play the footage of Vic Morrow and the children being killed by the helicopter.

Meanwhile, Max has been regularly livestreaming on YT since the Corona thing, and he has talked about the "public shaming," RLM and more... though it's all buried in hours of him pitching his terrible-sounding unproduced screenplays.

I finished the episode on Cursed Films and it doesn't say anything new to those familiar with the case except the production manager being against the pyrotechnics being close to the chopper and having explosions underneath the huts he built. Interestingly, he claimed his career was over but he has several more credits as production manager after Twilight Zone. All but two being John Landis films.

A lot of unnecessary risk on that production such as them using real bullets for one scene.

Even dummy rounds can still be dangerous, just ask the ghost of Brandon Lee.

There's a great anecdote on the set of True Romance where Tony Scott was trying to convince Dennis Hopper to take the shot to the head at point blank because it was firing blanks. The director had this demonstrated on himself and the recoil from the barrel hit him in the head, knocking him out, and drawing blood. They used a dummy head for the closeup.

Good on Tony Scott (RIP) for putting himself at risk before his actors.

What did he say about RLM? Even if I didn't think he's garbage, I can't fucking stand his voice. RLM was the only reason I knew who he was to begin with. I mean, they unlisted their videos with him but otherwise...?

He still likes them, they're good people and he says he still speaks to Mike, but isn't trying to go back on their show anytime soon.

A lot has happened for Max after his destruction, but after observing his SM throughout that time, it's clear to me what a sad figure he's become.

He's adopted this second persona called the "Golden Goblin", he seems to think of himself as sort of a Harry Osbourne like figure (the Green Goblin's son). The son of a disgraced powerful man who himself becomes a "villain" in the public eye. He imagines a lot of weight and pathos behind such a character and relates deeply to it. Here's a dumb video of this second persona:

Another thing he seems hung up on is this idea of being cancelled. He keeps relating himself to other figures he sees as being unfairly cancelled or misunderstood, but I don't think Max was cancelled in the way he keeps insisting he was. People didn't find out he said racial slurs when he was a teenager, they found out he's been a sex criminal and serial rapist and abuser for over a decade. I think he's deluding himself in the amount of disgust people have for his alleged actions.

He spends a lot of his time subtly insulting his exes. Like one of them would tweet about enjoying Tiger King, and like a day later he'd rant about how "fake woke people" enjoyed an evil and exploitative show like that. Fun fact: One of his exes, one that accused him of some of his most vile crimes, is now dating Kristen Stewart, and actress Max used to tweet a lot about and starred in one of his movies.

Now he's working on this sort of project where he pays people to draw some key scenes in his Superman fanfic epic "American Alien" after DC shitcanned his series following the allegations. I don't know where he thinks his career is going. When he talks about it, he sounds weirdly optimistic, like he'll be able to do his own thing eventually "when things blow over", but I think on some level he understands he's fucked. Like, he used to be selling multi-million dollar scripts every year and now he's doing fan funded fanfiction, and that will be the height of his career going forward. This is it.

People don't see him as Shane Gillis, but as Harvey Weinstein, and when he finally makes that connection in his head, he might go nuts. I can see him donning his Golden Goblin mask and really doing something bat shit.

Dude should have just used hookers.

I may have said this before in this very thread, I don't remember, but, it feels weird that after everything I still like Max's stuff, some of the pitches he made are really good and he sells them. American Alien was meh overall, but had a lot of great moments and I really like Dirk Gently S1, Chronicle and American Ultra

same goes Kevin Spacey. dude may be a creepy sex weirdo, but god damn if he's not a good actor

back to Max tho, I remember when BvS came out someone on twitter mentioned that Jesse Eisenberg's performance as Luthor was inspired by people he knew IRL (quote) almost explicitly implying Max and back then it was funny. now it's not funny at all

Max Landis addressing his cancellation, his father's alleged crimes, and what he went through in the past 2 years in a series of Instagram stories he attached to his profile (someone who knows how should save them all in case he decides to delete them if you're interested in what he has to say).

I'll do a TLDR:

He muses philosophically about being cancelled.

He say's that his stalker showed up at his home to kill him.

He talks about everyone publicly hating him. Doesn't really deny the claims, calls himself a "bipolar psycho." Admits that he treated people badly. He was locked in a mental health facility for 2 months. He accepts this is karma for being selfish and hurtful. Complains about Liberals using cancel culture and harassing females on Twitter; uses a cringe comparison with Batman and the Punisher. Claims he's gotten help. Dudes lives in a comic book world. Whines that we can't cancel Trump. Brings up Gamer Gate in brief. Believes in the Patriarchy being part of the problem (whew lad). Makes a wrestling reference. Ends with him saying he can't trust anybody.

FFS man, stop making comic book and wrestling references you fucking man child.

well I'm glad he at least talked about it after all this time. obviously it's still not clear how bad he used to be, but hopefully he did speak from the heart and is now a better person.

Shame we're not gonna get any more DC comics from him, at least not with or official anyway
