McDonalds - I'm Lovin' It

Apparently my mom used to get us the Mcpizza and we loved it as kids but I have zero memory of this.
There are a few articles from the day that had the McDonald's being just a step up from frozen pizza. Given what frozen pizza tasted like c. 1991, well...

So far, evidence suggests it was A: affordable, and B: nothing really to write home about
 
Was that it the REAL pizza which some Ohio stores still carried until...2017 I think...or was it the Bistro Gourmet one? The Bistro Gourmet one isn't the same. (Articles from the early 1990s mentioned it was a parbaked crust, which is usually going to turn out low quality).
I have vague memories of the pizza happy meal from the early 90s. It was only okay from what I remember. They were barely a step above Pillsbury Pizza mini's though, but for a kid under like 8, you really don't give a shit, McDonalds is McDonalds.

From what I recall working in the kitchen during the McPizza era, a difference between the grocery freezer Pillsbury pucks and the fastfood McD's version was that the McPizza one was ringed entirely by a thick, doughy, round crust. Almost forming a pizza bowl similar to a taco salad.

In the above pic, the Pillsbury ones have literally no crust at all.

The McD's one were differently being put in the oven premade and frozen though just like their grocery store brethren.

I imagine it was probably so cost-saving measure where the tall, rounded crust gave it the appearance of volume while taking up surface area to reduce the need for more pricey ingredients like cheese and toppings.

It wasn't an exact copy but the taste and quality were about the same from what I remember the few times I tried them like over 30 years ago now. I don't remember being too bummed out when McDicks stopped selling them though.
 
The fries are already not vegan and contain beef.
Not any more. They contain "natural beef flavor" that doesn't have any actual beef in it, but has some milk protein derivative. So they can't call it vegetarian but it doesn't have any actual meat. Fuck street shitters for ruining fries for everyone.
 
I usually order a fliet-o-fish and 4 piece McNuggets. The tangy bbq sauce has been a favorite since childhood and I’ve always paired it with the nuggets and fries. However, the fries have been a hit or miss in recent years so I don’t order them frequently.

I wish McDonald’s in the US would feature burgers and other items served overseas. McDonald’s featured a German burger and a French(?) dessert sometime last year. Didn’t try it, but it’s something different to the usual shit on their US menus. As a kid, I remember my dad ordering teriyaki burgers at McDonald’s locations inside the naval bases in Japan.

Has anyone tried the McSpaghetti? It’s only available in the Philippines. I’m assuming it’s similar to Jollibee’s jolly spaghetti since that’s a Filipino fast foot chain.

I've tried it in the Philippines. Filipino-style spaghetti sauce is sweet, if you've tasted it, you know. McSpaghetti is closer to normal spaghetti sauce but on top of ground pork there's hotdog slices in it. Not a winner in my opinion, but for fast food spaghetti to fill the belly it's good and cheap. Here's a link, including prices. Keep in mind that the price looks like a good deal (78 PHP at 55 USD/PHP is about 1.5 dollars a serving) but the servings might be smaller than you expect - and I don't have photos with something known for scale handy.

We also have Regular size drinks that I think are smaller than the US smallest size, so drink for scale doesn't work either.

That sounds awful. In fact it's exactly what I hate about American-style spaghetti sauce, especially the jarred stuff. The only sugar in spaghetti sauce should be from onions and garlic.
