MCU Television and Animation Series on Disney + - WandaVision, FATWS, Loki, etc

Personally, I don't think the first two episodes came across as satire of the 50's and 60's sitcoms. Instead I thought they came across as a homage to those sitcoms. Not once did I think that the show was winking at the audience constantly, saying "lol this is so dumb, am I right?" Instead, the episodes played out like two actual episodes of Classic TV sitcoms, with some moments sprinkled here and there that remind the audience that something else is going on, too.

Anyway, I just watched this featurette. Apparently they filmed the sitcom episodes in front of a live studio audience. Yeah ... This is definitely a homage, in my opinion.

The story's payoff could totally fall flat on it's face, don't get me wrong. However, I love the hell out of the setup so far, and the show has my attention for now.
Yeah, the best kinds of parodies are done out of a love for the source material, and that's the best thing about it. That they clearly love those kinds of shows.
In their defense, you wouldn't look like hot shit too if you spent most of your childhood being passed around by creepy old Holllyjew producers in numereous Eyes wide shut-style gangbang parties.
Yep, kids, never go full child star.

Funny enough, Liz had small appearances in some of their works, but didn't pursue it full time until college.

She came out unscathed. I still remember her in the sleuth vhs tapes in the butt out song

I think the weekly release schedule is gonna hurt Wandavision, at least initially. The first 2 episodes barely did anything beyond a sitcom of the era. I'm curious about where it's going and what they are building too but it hasn't sucked me in, especially with having to wait a week to see what is next. In hindsight that may have been why they decided to release the first two episodes together, because seeing that second episode after waiting a week after the first one would be a let down. Maybe episode 3 is when things start to get wild.

I was watching reviews of WandaVision on YouTube and people thought the first episode was a I Love Lucy parody, I was dumbfounded because I remember I Love Lucy on Sunday afternoons when nothing was on and it felt nothing like it. I haven't seen Dick van Dyke, so I thought more of a Donna Reed minus the kids.

I'm wondering what the 70's episode is gonna parody.

Double Toasted (the reformed Spill.com) mention that by the third episode he started getting bored by the formula, and then right when he was getting sick of it "shit got wild".

I was gonna watch that video after the third episode comes out, but that pretty much confirms my theory on why they released 2 episodes to start. I'd be all for a slow build series but having to wait week for not much to happen would be rough.

That's all the more reason why the (outdated as fuck) weekly episodic release schedule sucks so much.

If you release every episode at once, then people don't have to wait for "shit to get wild." It's 'wild' on the first day if they actually care to watch that far enough.

Yeah, the first episode wasn't at all "I Love Lucy" to me. It was definitely more of a mix of The Dick Van Dyke Show and the Donna Reed show. The opening credits to the first episode even did an ottoman joke, which had me laughing out loud.

Also, Wanda and Vision's house in the first episode looks almost exactly like Rob and Laura Petrie's house.

The second episode was undoubtedly inspired by Bewitched, even down to the point where Vision/Darren is going through some ill-timed hijinks, and Wanda/Samantha is using her magic to solve the problem and to hide their secret.

I disagree. If they'd released all of it at once I'd have finished it by now and cancelled my subscription. Similarly if they'd released all of the Mandalorian at once, I'd have again cancelled my subscription rather than them getting months of it from me.

It can be tough when you've become used to the netflix model, but I kind of prefer it this way. If nothing else discussion doesn't die instantly like it did with shows like Daredevil.
It's got enough easter eggs and stuff shoved in that it can last the week until a new episode. Really enjoying how they are putting small things in for people to find notice. Reminds me of the actually psychological mind fuck films before everthing became so over the top.

Episode 3 of Wandavision goes much deeper into the fake aspect, so I think people will be hooked from here on out.
Maybe people are a lot more tolerant of Mystery Box bullshit than I am. There needs to be more than "ooh, there's a mystery! Wouldn't you like to find out what's going on??" I need things like compelling characters, dramatic situations, and good storytelling to get me invested in a show. Not, you know, twenty-five minutes of boredom followed by "dat black gurl be spooksy."

I like to think of it more as a character study on Wanda. You just have to sift through the obvious sitcom tropes, but the references are there. The most obvious ones are the in-universe advertisements like the ticking toaster that's basically the bomb her and Pietro had to endure for like 2 days.

I didn't like the third episode.

I was thinking it before, but now I'm going to just come out and say it. This show is outright crippled by Disney+ 's retarded need need to pretend like we all still live decades ago (pretty fucking hilarious considering the subject matter of the show, but I'm not laughing.) and releasing each episode weekly.

Maybe I just have a short attention span, but it took me way longer than it should have to realize that the black chick from the last episode, who looked totally different in this episode, and wanted to be called "Foxy" now because 70's, was supposed to be the same character- I still couldn't tell you what the fuck happened to her at the end of the episode, and I'm starting to think I don't even care.

Also, did anybody else notice that the credits take up like a 4th of the episodes run time?

She said Wanda's(?) outfit was foxy, it's a compliment. Her name was still Geraldine.

The problem with the "all at once" releases was that shows began learning the wrong lessons from it.

People then began writing shows for the sole purpose of being binged. They began to write stories that stretched themselves so thin that they required tons of superfluous filler to justify it. That's why Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage all sucked, they were written by people who thought just writing a slow paced capeshit show made it Daredevil.

The reason why weekly is working for this show, The Mandalorian and even The Boys is because its forcing the writers to actually start writing again. to learn how to properly pace their stories. That's why Mandalorian kept me hooked for both of its seasons.

Apparently the Fox version of Quicksilver is all but confirmed for the show if the Spanish dub actor is to be believed. Not sure if the MCU one will appear or not, but if a thread I read on /tv/ is to believed
he does, Wanda starts to freak out and reality overwrites him to be the Fox version

Also, super autistic observation of the commercials:
