Any other ausbros wish pieface pies would stop falling apart? Pretty annoying.

Still their mash and peas on top deal is pretty good for a skeevy hangover lunch. After that steak & onion / chicken & mushroom are the best.

I ate a box full of spicy pork empanada a long time ago. It didn't go well with my stomach but holy hell it was worth it.

Should this be more like a pastry General? Because sausage rolls and pasties are pretty much in the same ball park, likewise empanadas and Jamaican beef pattys would also be close.

I used to love standard Cornish pasties, but I ended up practically living on them all of last year and just lost my taste for them. I didn't even have a farewell pasty when I left Cornwall because I couldn't stand them.

Are there different kinds of pasties in cornwall generally?

I like meat pies. Recently I tried a kind of Latin American type of meat pie called empanada and found it very palatable, preferably with chicken inside but ones with beef are ok too.

I'm part Mexican, so these have been a staple of my diet for years. My favorite is ground beef with raisins and chopped green olives in the filling. It sounds weird, but the sweetness of the raisins is balanced by the saltiness of the olives. A lot of people balk at it until they try it - then they ask me for the recipe afterwards.

I highly prefer the pies with meat in them to the sticky gross sugar filled ones in general, unless it's pumpkin or sweet potato pie because that's just like the thing it's based on mixed with some other stuff.

My family would make pumpkin empanadas every Thanksgiving, and they put pumpkin pie to shame.

They sell a whole bunch of different types, but I think that beef and potatoes is the canonical "true" Cornish pastie.

No, this is for ones with meat in them. Empanadas with meat in them definitely qualify, though.

Cool. I meant more savory pastries but the discussion here seems pretty broad in any case.

The one Cornish pie I always wanted to try is star gazey pie.
