Media that has made you angry

I hate almost every youtube let's player these days. They all piss me off with how forced their reactions are and how overly enthused they are to be playing some shitty flash game. Their routines are painfully predictable and tiresome. They pander to the lowest common denominator and don't even have the courtesy to provide insightful or entertaining commentary. The exceptions to this are people like Joel from Vinesauce who are just overall great.

That movie was so fucking metal though.

Did you really expect lets players to not be spergs? That's like expecting water to not be wet.

Subsystems are a wreck too. The DNA Board is a terrible mechanic solely there to force you to reroll approximately a billion times to get the rolls you want. Weapons are never properly explained or contextualized and their unlock mechanics are fucking bullshit.

Sounds like you're talking about a general bad design phenomenon across the field of vidya often called "artificial difficulty." It's not really a new thing. I remember old platformers where the difficulty was manufactured by doing shit like having you have to jump to something offscreen that you couldn't see. It's terrible design because you end up having to do things over and over until you get lucky.

Actual difficulty is, of course, a good thing.

One of my favorite examples of this is in Nethack, one of my favorite games, but it is notoriously fuck-you hard. There's a castle in about the middle of the game and there's a Mastermind-type puzzle to figure out a tune you can play with a flute to open up the front gate of it. Actually it's ridiculously easy to open and even a first level attack spell also opens it, but you get to feel really clever when you open the drawbridge with the puzzle method.

And if you're standing in front of it, it immediately comes down and instakills you.

This actually transcends the artificial difficulty trope and is awesome because of its sheer mean-spiritedness.

But you can believe if you've played this game for months and finally got to the point of being at this castle, this fucking absolutely infuriates you.

If you're too dumb even to know Twitch is a better platform you are almost by definition not going to be any good.

I've said this before somewhere else, but watch anything made by Ross Scott, like Freeman's Mind or Ross's Game Dungeon. He's amazing.

It's summer in America once again! Here's absolutely everything in theaters for the next six months:
  • Cash cattle (Marvel universe, nostalgic remakes etc)
  • Generic protagonists treat everyone around them like shit, go on wacky adventure, receive asspats for being special and different
  • Kids movies about talking animals
  • Horror movies too shitty to get an October release
That's it. That's everything there is, every year, without fail. :deagle::)

My was the one where Brian revealed himself to be an atheist after Meg was sick and all she watched was Kirk Cameron Christian programming. Yes, it is easy to mock Christians like him especially when they're being obnoxiously preachy but Meg's character is that she is family member that is always being shitted on (I think it started when Mila Kunis became her voice actor). And rather than have something new for her, she invites Brian to a book-burning event and he just completely destroys her by saying if God exists and created Meg, she would not have made ugly or have a family that treats her like crap.

The Meg-bashing in general is just getting old. Every possible punchline has already been made a hundred times and nobody laughs, it's more like a mini commercial break so everyone can refill their drinks and stare awkwardly at their phones until it's over.

I don't read comics at all, but hearing bullshit like making every superhero known to man female is just utterly pointless and completely fucking stupid. This also goes for the people who want to see Link from The Legend of Zelda as a female.

Link was designed to be androgynous so people could read him as a female character if they wanted to. Unless people are demanding massive tits or something I'd say that's a slightly different situation.

Dunno, still looks like a dude to me.
Should we make Mario a chick then?

Hollyoaks. Everything about it. It's a British soap on Channel 4 aimed at "young adults" and is a perfect storm of lazy writing, bad acting, and virtue signalling.

Instead of character development and performances, which other British soaps do in fact have (viz. Casualty, arguably Coronation Street when the writers are on their meds) it goes in for box ticking about whatever "issues" are in the press regarding Young People at the time. Usually they shoehorn five or six such issues into the plot at once so you end up with things like a teenage boy who's transitioning to be a girl is being blackmailed by a girl who she claims he got pregnant when he was still a boy but it's actually her mother's baby and the real father is said transteen's grandad. Who date raped her. And she's being cyberbullied on social media for getting pregnant in the first place. Instigated by him. Yeah.

Okay, I just made that bit up but you get the idea.

They also have a habit of casting people because they look pretty rather than because they can act. This is so they can sell every year the "Hollyoaks Hunks" and "Hollyoaks Babes" calendars respectively, which feature the cast in their underwear or topless in the shallow end of a swimming pool or similar. They still do this even though if most people want wank fuel they just log on to the internets.

Invariably every episode ends with a voiceover saying, "If you have been affected by the issues raised in this programme, call our hotline." So you can be personally patronised rather than patronised for being part of a demographic.

I got a few.

The whole Bill Cosby roofie shit fest was seriously just fucking depressing and he was assumed guilty from the start and the only thing he could viably do to end the media constantly badgering him and protect his family from the literal fucking mob that was starting to form against them was to plead "guilty" Literally every interview was "We're not saying he's guilty, but he's totally guilty and should pay for his crimes against humanity". It wasn't like other scandals similar to the Michael Vic dogfighting ring or Tiger Woods' Mistresses where there was actual evidence other than the claims and that's what fucking pisses me off. Sure I'll make jokes about him giving people roofies but I don't actually believe that shit actually happened. Meanwhile the family of the guy that got OJ out of a crime he was actually guilty of have a shitty reality show and a million other things solely by association with that single case .I don't give a rats ass about kim kardashian's ass implants.

I also absolutely hate how it's so damn taboo to talk about shit Trump says because of how the media did a 180 on him once he actually decided to run for president when they were the ones who kept saying he was fucking president material in the first place when he wasn't running. There are multiple interviews that news networks have done with Trump where they ask him if he ever plans to run for president or say they'd think he'd make a good president. these same networks are now so biased against trump that it's sad and hilarious how out of the way they go to try to make him look like a "racist bigoted backwards white man". See: any insulting quotes from his fight with rosie o'donnel being taken out of context to make him look like he hates women.

A while ago in Dr. Who, they randomly retconned a character that literally died in an already mediocre episode back to life with no explanation whatsoever solely to retcon them to a woman because they wanted to be hip and progressive. Their weapon is literally an iPhone that somehow vaporizes people when they take selfies. Noe explanation how the iphone kills people it just does. And it's not even like the thing vaporizes the person taking the selfie, no no, that'd make too much fucking sense and wouldn't be hip enough.
Modern doctor who has a had a lot of genuinely shit characters and episodes but these past few seasons have been utter hell. They also had a random background character that was a white dude into a black woman out of fucking nowhere in the season finale of the last season for similar reasons, even having a line. The people that own Dr. who, the BBC are also pushing for female leading roles and these changes according to interviews have been to "warm people up to the idea of a female doctor"

Seeing a famous corny science fiction show where the original premise was and surprisingly generally stayed "alien guy with time machine inexplicably stuck as police booth goes through time and space and fucks around" being slowly remolded into something akin to the ghostbusters reboot fucking hurts. At least with the ghostbusters reboot that shit was it's own thing and just happened out of fucking nowhere.

Parks and Recreation. Maybe it's just the conservative in me, but Leslie Knope comes across as a incredibly unlikeable tyrant who refuses to let other people make their own decisions (e.g. that godawful chard episode.)

CNN, FOX, MSNBC, et al. It's even worse in this godawful farce of an election. Also Breitbart for being so pants-on-head exceptional it makes FOX look honest.

"Reality TV" nonsense like the Kardashians, Duck Dynasty, 16 & pregnant, etc.

At least The Jersey Shore & Honey Boo Boo are cancelled.

This is more annoyance than anger, and people mentioned it before, but I can't stand Let's Players with their obnoxious, annoying commentary, especially PewDiePie.

I know this sounds spergy as fuck - but just about any countdown list on YT - like this one (especially if it involves stuff like cartoons/anime)...:

I'm [feeling] embarrassed and [royally] apologize for this shit. I really do.

Let's see.

Batman vs Superman is probably the most recent example seared into my mind. I went in knowing it was probably gonna blow, but that wasn't much of a deterrent. I've seen every Michael Bay Transformers movie in theaters, mostly because I like laughing about them with my brother after the fact. But BvS just struck a nerve, mostly because of its pretentious, overly dour tone and the absolute shit writing. Honestly had it not been the end of the movie I would have walked right out at that "Martha" line. The film basically soured me on DC for the time being, and I'll be damned if I shell out any more money to these assholes who think I'm a moralfag for liking heroic super heroes.

What's far worse than the movie itself though is all the die-hard DC fanboys rushing to it's defense, defending this objectively shit movie because it's "not Marvel". Not the worst movie I've ever seen (top five though) but definitely the most irritating.

I also hate those click-bait embedded videos you've all probably seen on Facebook. You know, the shit your moonbat friends repost from Salon or Upworthy or that stuff?

The movie "Remember Me". I was watching it with a roommate. At first, it isn't a bad movie. Robert Pattinson actually gives a good performance (he's also great in Little Ashes), at most the only bad thing is Pierce Brosnan's American accent (no offense, Pierce, I love you).

You think everything's wrapped up, but then it turns out it's 9/11, and R-Pats is in the Twin Towers that day. Yeah...

So many things wrong with that. The movie had already naturally wrapped up, it didn't need that tacked on. It was like they did this purposely for Oscar bait, or they thought no one would remember the film (no pun intended). Or to make people cry, not out of love for the characters, but taking advantage of a national tragedy. I actually booed at it. It was so stupid and so unneeded.

When I was 13 or 14 "Karma Police" by Radiohead was one of the videos that lost best group video to "Everybody" by The Backstreet Boys at the MTV VMA's, and I was pretty legitimately pissed off about it for a while. :story:
