I've never really showed my autism on KF before, but I wanted to get a Crusader-style helmet (Deus Vult type) for Renaissance Faire and other fun stuff (memes?!), but the one I purchased from "SCZO Supplies" for $55 was nose-crushing disappointment...turns out a stiff little less than 9" clearance from front to back does my nose no favors and makes it difficult to use it at all (I have a large head). So...do any Kiwis know of a good place to purchase helmets and stuff for a reasonable price?

If you want to expand your crusader autism to books, check out the Richard Fox

I'd love some armor sometime. It's expensive though if you want decent stuff for actual combat. I know a guy who works renn faires and makes armor pieces, and I've gotten to know how long it really takes.

I make chainmaille myself though if that counts as medieval armor (arguable more widely used back then than say, plate). I mostly make small things like jewelry, belts, and bags. But making a shirt really isn't too hard. Just takes a goddamn long time.

Yeah you got that right. I myself am working on a set of authentic mid 13th century knight armor with period clothing and its looking to be several thousand dollars total by the end. Its even higher the later in the Middle Ages you go. A suit of 14th century partial plate/coat of plates might run you $10k while I've seen cost estimates for 15th century plate armor go up to $50,000

OP, if you're looking for something for memes or fantasy costuming, I would look at a site like this. You can get helmets for various head sizes:

For something for combat or reenactment, I would look into a custom armorer.

This here is some armor shops. Mostly from eastern Europe in Russia and Ukraine.
