Mega Rad Gun Thread

Zoomers meme on 1911's and they're far from ideal for LEO. But if you meet a cop still rocking one I guarantee you he's a bad mother fucker who can out shoot you.

On the topic of the LAPD, fictional cops and 1911s, Bosch almost lured me into buying a nu-Sig:

I thought it was a shop or AI at first but then I checked some of their other posts/videos, there's a non-zero chance it's a doublestack since a ton of cops are switching to 2011s when able.
LAPD is famous for letting officers carry personal firearms from an approved list.
There's perks to being in an armed gang.

That plus more sales (new hotness and all that) plus slightly harder for YNs to install switches.

Remember, Glock actually changed a fair amount of internal components in the Gen 6 (get fucked aftermarket says Glock)
As a Glock enjoyer, I care not for most of the Glock aftermarket. Factory based Glonk trigger is fine, all it really needs is the contact points cleaned up and polished up a bit, which you can either do by hand or shooting.

The only legacy parts that need to work in the Gen 6 Glock are the magazines, and maybe the holsters. I could give a single fuck about anything else, lots of Gen 3 - 5's still out there for under $500 if you look.

look at the load out this old cop is rocking at the LAPD.

Ring hammer 1911 and some sort of marksman badge. based.
I bet he's got 230 grain hardball in there too.
does anyone have experience with Lapua projectiles?
My buddy uses them sometimes for .22 competitions. He says it's good stuff but he isn't married to it. Also it can be hard to get ahold of the same lot unless you spend a bunch extra; apparently you can pay Lapua to send you tested high quality competition lots in bricks, but it's fairly pricey since they have a guy actually do accuracy testing on the lots for the sale.

If you mean for centerfire, then my buddy usually uses Winchester match and hasn't mentioned Lapua. I haven't used either myself. Never seemed worth the extra money.

LAPD once had a fairly good relationship with Kimber, offering them as an approved alternative to the Beretta 92 and being a standard issue pistol for LAPD SWAT. A lot of SWAT officers would carry their Kimber 1911s when doing plain clothes or street uniform duty, so this very well could be an LAPD SWAT officer in a normal uniform, or he may have opted for a Kimber 1911 instead of a Beretta 92 or whatever LAPD started to issue after the 92.

A lot of LE departments and agencies will have an approved weapons list for officers who want something other than their department's standard issue sidearm. I've seen local cops with SIG P220s, P226s, and P229s, Staccatos, HK USPs, P30s, and VP9s, 1911s, and a buddy of my dad's back in the day carried a Browning High Power as his sidearm (this was 25-30yrs ago). Then again, there are departments and agencies who are very restrictive on what they would approve for carry, with some only allowing the standard issue sidearm.

Eyeing a Beretta A300 ultima sporting or any other similarly priced semi auto target gun, anyone have experience with them? Sick of running a 32inch pump action for trap. It's long, heavy and by the 250th trigger pull is another CTE. Tried someone's semi that also had a mercury capsule installed in the stock (could be boomer magic idk) and it felt so soft. Seeing new ones as low as $700.

They have some interesting round nose projectiles i've been looking at. I did end up buying a box of them just to see. I like a good round nose. so we'll see i suppose.

People in my neck of the woods always bought Eley .22LR and .22 Short when they wanted super accurate cartridges. I actually found a box of them in my aunts old house. had to have been 40 year old but they still fired even after sitting in a old musty mold and damp cabin.

@hog cranking frog
A nice heavy O/U may do you well. Used Citori's and superposed can be quite affordable. They swing like a piece of lumber but all guns that aren't a light SxS do, or at least that's how it feels to me.

Whatever happened to that BSD American-made VSS Vintorez / AS Val .300 Black clone?
Last I heard the guy behind it all got outed as a genuine meth-head and he crashed out over Ian McCollum's fairly light critique of the gun and how overly ambitious they seemed to be in terms of getting it out on the market so fast. Is that project just dead in the water or has there been any progress? If I recall right they claimed it'd be on the market by now right? Lol.

Get a O/U

Not a sporting gun, but I've got the A300 Patrol and it's also pretty soft-shooting and seems to not give a single fuck what you feed it - from powder puff #8 birdshot loads all the way to pretty hot 00 buck, it just keeps on trucking.

He's currently taking pre-orders at $4500-7000 depending on the model with a 50% deposit. He's still having catastrophic bolt failures as of October. He blames these failures on the design itself so he intends to improve the design to make it last longer. Make of that what you will

Does anyone have a Riflespeed gas system? I'm deciding what length to go with on my Lima6 build, it seems the RS7548 might give me a little bit more flexability down the road but sticks out a lot. It also might not allow me to move down to a 18 if I decide to do that. (currently have a 20" Rifle length that I plan on using)
