Mega Rad Gun Thread

Man, I’m not shitting on your gun but the first gen VHS looked so much better.
I was hoping we'd get integrated optic ones but the market demands modularity above aesthetic.

The VHS 1 would have scratched my FAMAS itch 100%

7.62x39 is getting up there with .308 Screenshot_20260502_015029_Chrome.jpg

You know its really bad when Mishaco ( owned basically 2 of every ak ever imported ) liquidated his ak collection and is going to stop shooting AKs because of ammo price

Im lucky I hoarded a bunch when it was like 250 for 1k rds

Hey there kiwi crew, is there a gun you rarely shoot?
Savage Lee Enfield I bought years ago. I don't like .303 at all, and I think the most available ammo right now is indian shit. I probably have 300 rounds of .303 but it'll last me years at this rate.
Other than that I only have one gun I've never shot and its an 1889 Italian bodeo. I actually have ammo for it, but it is in poor shape and the revolver is out of time anyways. I could just manually index it but I doubt it would go off.
I probably took out my vhs 2 once or twice.
Do you not like it? What are your issues with it? I "want" one but I want other things more

Other than the trigger being terrible ( you can get trigger jobs now) and LOP being a little crazy ( im like 5'9- 5'10) there's nothing wrong with it. If you're a collector nab it because it hasn't been selling well and its heavily discounted( on its way out.)

I do wonder if this means we can get the Finnish stockpiles of comblock ammo and rk 95/62Ms parts kits since theyre switching over to SAKO AR15 variants in 556

Most likely not. The RK62s are still in a generally good shape and the spare parts are plentiful. They will stay in the wartime mobilisation storage for decades to come before they are fully if ever replaced by the SAKO AR-15s. The Chinese AKs and East German AKs we have in similar storage are first to go, but they most likely just get turned into scrap metal.

CMMG makes an adapter kit for colt mags

We've been over this before, scorpion mags are the best.

That's subjective and you know it. The PSA designed for scorpion mags have have the LRBHO crack the magwell on a few of them in the first 30-150 rounds. PSA site hosts clear pics of customer disappointments. If my glock 33 sticks haven't given me a problem they're not a problem. If you can find an out of the box scorpion mag lower that mates with the CMMG radial delayed blowback I'll concede there might be something to this. The one guy I read of had to do a ton of work to upper/lower/magcatch/feedramp to make a RDB system work with a scorpion mag setup, And you'll notice everyone in this picture but the Glock magazine is making the 9mm take the "leap of faith" prior to meeting the chamber. I'm not a fan.

The magazine canting or bowing forward as God intended does look far better. I'm going for reliability not aesthetics.

Generally I would agree that curved magazines are typically more esthetically pleasing, especially with subguns/PCCs, but i absolutely dig the way Vector mags look in a Vector. They look goofy as hell in any other platform, and the 33rnd GLOCK mags look awkward and emaciated in a Vector, but together they just look so right to me.

One thing I like about the CMMG AR pattern 9mm mags is that they solve that issue by incorporating a ramp into the magazine itself (it looks like the EndoMags do a similar thing):

At any rate, I'm only about 400 rounds in, but haven't had any issues with this setup so far.

I ran the CMMG conversion inserts with the ejector on the mag for awhile and each would start to have issues after 3-400 rounds. Ended up grabbing the Sylvan glock mag adapter and have had no issues with it. I think all the issues stemmed from the ejector portion being plastic and deforming.

I have a decked out zastava m92 that I sbr'd. I honestly put a lot of time and money into it and 7.62x39 is just not worth buying anymore.

I damn near bought a CZ Bren 2 pistol in 7.62x39mm and was planning on doing an SBR build. I wanted it because the French GIGN counter-terrorist group uses them since 7.62x39mm works better out of short barrels than 5.56x45mm and they had issues with the short HK416s they had previously. I was going to do this when 7.62x39mm was still pretty cheap, but other things got in the way.

Why not? Ive already dealt with tolerance stacking in the USP, I dont want to worry about it in what Im EDCing
I was merely curious. All the USPs I ever tried had some rather shitty service-level trigger pulls. I mean, I know they're service pistols at the end of the day but even so...

The only gripe I keep hearing is some need to be tuned for ideal angle and ideal height the magazine is lifted to. The better brands have set screws so you can play with them and find the sweet spot.
I have an SA conversion block. I did have to print a thin (somewhere around 1 or 2mm) shim "ring" that goes around the block and enforces the space between the bottom of the magwell and the "lip" of the conversion block to get the magazines to reliably seat with the mag catch. I considered drilling and tapping for a set screw, but then I got a 3d printer. Probably just variation between lowers; I assume some lowers seat okay by default. I also don't use the locking screw that goes in the top of the block, so the block can be swapped in and out without tools. Aside from that no issues.

Someone has done it, but the advice is to... not.

IMO I would go colt mags with the CMMG, but I've mentioned before I just don't like the look/feel of glock sticks.
This is probably because I have an Glock AR9 lower that has left a bad taste in my mouth (TNArms CO)

Hello saar, I'm back with more paki gunsmithing. This time it's AK mags, and admittedly the end product looks serviceable.
The fly cutter seems out of place, everything else they're doing looks crude in comparison. Do those side surfaces need precision to seat in? It seems like something they'd just hit with that grinder they're using anyways. And then they hammer the finished surface flat against a solid insert?
