I think that's nickel plating. Raw zinc would look blue and powdery from oxidation. Not gonna lie, I really dig the zinc and the pearl grips on these Saturday night specials.

Most if not all of the time it was chrome plating, if I had to guess because that's cheaper than nickel.I think that's nickel plating. Raw zinc would look blue and powdery from oxidation.
those melwin n huberts are interesting. mustve been popular
very high quality guns. expertly machined. expensive though so they weren't made in numbers as great as colts. the .38 caliber variants were fairly popular for police sidearms in the northeast.those melwin n huberts are interesting. mustve been popular

If I am carrying a .22 rifle or shotgun I carry a Ruger Blackhawk or colt anaconda both in .45 coltWhat do you carry as a sidearm while hunting and why?
I hunt with an AR10, so I don't.What do you carry as a sidearm while hunting and why?
Depends what I'm after, normally the long slide setup on my G20, if I'm birding normally my makarov since I'm more worried about some dumbass wanting my kills pointing a rusty maverick 88 at me from 300 yards. What do you carry as a sidearm while hunting and why?
That looks nice! Do you find tritium sights to be good and useable in the dark? I haven't ever used them or even seen any in low-light conditions, and I never know if the extra $$ spent on them is really worth itGot the Elliason rear sight installed on my Python. I'm really impressed with it so far. Feels robust, the adjustment clicks are positive and tactile, and I really like the three-dot sight picture, kinda like an automatic. Colt honestly should dump the rear sight they've currently got on their revolvers with adjustable rear sights and go back to the Elliason.

I know. I should've mentioned what color the powder was. Also, zinc oxide is white, not blue. See this Hi-Point left in a swamp cooler:
It's a rebranded Taurus/Rossi like their lever-actions are, so it will have the usual caveats.Any of you played with a Heritage Roscoe yet? I think I'm gonna get a 2 inch at the end of this year for christmas. I want a cheap 2 inch detective wheel to throw in a pocket.
That's one of the reasons I love Bone Tomahawk. That movie was my introduction to the absolute piece of art that were Merwin & Hulbert revolvers.those melwin n huberts are interesting. mustve been popular
