Finally got a chance to shoot my L1A1, will post target pictures when I get home. I am very happy with it and also pretty happy with how I shot.

After getting cucked by Mike Lindell’s crazy ass cyber crackhead rant for the last three days, I was able to go and shoot my L1A1 for the first time in over 6 months. Time and ammunition was the bottle neck. And I have to say, I’m satisfied with what I got.

~25 yards, first magazine. Standing, because I’m not a pussy and want to get used to the rifles weight even though I’m a wimpy IT nerd. I shot a bit faster than I’d have liked, and as I’m a left handed shooter the sights might be a bit off on alignment. Grouped well, all shots on the target within a pretty decent cluster. Started to get jittery towards the end. Was shooting Winchester white box target ammo.

~25 yards, still standing. Was pretty jittery on this one, noise and kick was starting to get to me. Probably was just firing too fast, psyching myself out. Some rounds flew waaaay off center. One managed to almost land dead center though. This was with some Czech surplus I found at a local sporting goods store that came in a green box.

Barrel was smoking by about round 30, so probably was firing a bit quick. Happy to shoot though. It’s a pretty slick indoor range at the Alliance.

For those that have not seen the ATF has ruled that the Rare Breed triggers are "machine guns".
I hate to say I told you so, but I called this shit when those things were introduced and everyone thought I was just being paranoid.

Same. That said, they absolutely satisfy the technical definition for not being a machine gun, but making what is basically a "bump trigger" was probably flying a bit too close to the sun.

There goes cheap steel case.
Rest in pepperoni the only halfway decent CPR cartridge for the last six months.

Edit: Ammoseek is kill. 7.62 disappearing off the internet right now.

This has been in the the cards since 2017 or so. RIP Russian steel case, hail [Insert Eastern European Nation] Steel case

It's almost as if we'll continue getting the bulk of our steel case from Ukraine.
A guy I know with an AK-74 is really mad about this. There’s basically no 5.45 that’s cheap outside of Russian manufacture.

Glad I bought about 8 boxes of Wolf 7.62 over the last few months though.

I wonder if this will affect Kalashnikov USA at all, as it is a Russian company. I’d still buy Zastava though.

Damn, and I just bought a draco today as well. Guess it’s brass case and dry fire from now on

I think they already have several degrees of separation from Kalashnikov Concern, which has been sanctioned for several years now because of the Ukraine conflict.

According to that TTAG blog, the effects of this won't be felt for several years. Russian ammo companies still have their US business permits, but once those start expiring, sanctions will bar them from being renewed.

In other news:
  1. Chipman's nomination is looking more and more like it'll be DOA
  2. Sens. Feinstein, Blumenthal, and Whitehouse submitted a bill going after ArmsList.
