What is it about guns that gives people such autism? They are devices that sling rocks really fast, in a really loud, really expensive manner.
seriously... sometimes I wish the autists would stick to trains.

Variants, precise machining, historical relevance.
personally i find the various mechanical means of operating interesting. now days most smei auto rifles are di or piston driven and virtually every automatic pistol is a titling barrel design, but looking back through history you have a plethora of weird and different means that people came up with. just the mechanics of how the parts fit together and how the bolt locks then unlocks and slides back is interesting to me. speaks to the engineer in me.

for example, i think toggle locks are neat; the pedersen rifle is a gun i would sell my kidney to get a working example for my personal collection.

A Glock is more reliable than a train schedule.

Even then their is an art form to drawing, aiming, and shooting a gun especially when paired with time constraints (which is similar to speed running).

Polymer80 went bankrupt today thanks to legal costs incurred defending against frivolous lawsuits filed by Bloomberg.

Pro gun orgs should sue him in a 2A friendly court where a jury would award damages that make Alex Jones’ look reasonable. A trillion dollars sounds fair to me.

I honestly don't understand the fanboyism for the SKS. Would have been the greatest weapon of WW2 expect it was late the party and the AK47 was adopted the same year the SKS was introduced. When they were 200 bucks at every pawn shop in America? Sure. Now if you're looking to go blast hogs and deer with 7.62x39 on a budget the Ruger American Scout is the way to go.

-From a historical perspective, they have a lot of history attached to them. Wars, mainly, but other things too, like crime, espionage, and even general culture in some cases. it can be interesting to read up on the design philosophies that makes a gun designed the way it is as well as the doctrines that give said guns a reason to exist, in the case of military rifles atleast. You could endlessly read up on the who's and why's criminals, policemen, armed citizens & others tend to use the guns they use if you wanted to.
-From a design perspective there is a ton of R&D put into a gun. on all but the most jerry-rigged guns out there, there is effort that is put into even the smallest of details that you'd normally miss. I honestly dont know how to put it into words; I had no idea the sheer amount of thought and reasoning put into the design of guns until I did some actual research into them. it is mind-boggling and pretty impressive, all things considered.
-From a competitive perspective there is a level of skill & nuance needed to use a firearm proficiently; it can take a lot of practice & knowledge to become good with one, and naturally there are endless conversations about "how" one should shoot a gun, as you might expect.

There are plenty of things about firearms that one could find interesting, and as such there are endless amounts of things that a retard could ramble on about and get into irrationally heated debates over. Thats why we're here.

This is implying that any judge would risk the negative press in an election year. In several states judges face public relection...

Like pretty much anything other than an AR-15: they are fun. No one is saying that it would be a good combat rifle today.

Oh I get weird - I own an AUG and wish MAS-49's weren't too expensive for what they are. But like the MAS I think the SKS is wildly over priced now.

Speaking of 7.62x39mm - I wish the CZ Bren 2 accepted AKM magazines.

If you are making a 7.62x39 rifle, it is lunacy not to use the AK magwell. Just like with the STANAG magwell, are they the perfect solutions from a technical standpoint? No. Are they absolutely ubiquitous around the world? YES! So use it!

Economy of scale is better than whatever improvement there may technically be. Obviously with the BREN, I guess it's more about trying to maintain the receiver construction the same for economic production.

I love bolt hold opens and understand the logic - I just wish they offered a conversion kit at minimum like the ARX-160 which is sadly discontinued for the US market.

I'm fairly certain there are third-party lowers you can get that can use AK mags.

Old guns that are no longer in production, especially military ones, should be preserved and not butchered.

It's FINISHED. My AR that I specced out and built (with assistance) from the trigger guard to the muzzle device is DONE.

BCM upper, Expo x MEGA lower, criterion core barrel, Sionics NP-3 BCG, Hiperfire EDT trigger, B5 stock and MILSPEC/close to it everything else.

Sights are Magpul MBUS Gen 3s

Will eventually pop on a Delta Stryker 1-6x LPVO
