Well one of the persons quoted in the article took to the US Army Subreddit to reveal that Task & Purpose cut all of the negative things he had to say about the system entirely and has listed them in his post as well.

Well duh, Task and Purpose is a joke outlet full of military failsons/fail daughters who got to retire into a cushy vetbro influencer lifestyle

No shit they're gargling the XM7 turd.

It's great to see Joe's see what a fat pig the XM7 is and how idiotic the entire program is...

Task and Purpose did say, what the army prints out about the XM7 isn't going to be always unbiased and accurate and that the rifle could be complete garbage.
They also mentioned a reddit post from some boomer officer using the rifle and mentioning it being too heavy.

Best NY compliant semi-autos that ARENT an SKS/Mini-14?
People SPERG out over this thing because "muh ugly stock" but honestly its the best ban complaint rifle you can get. Because its literally just an AR with weird grip. You don't even have to buy a pre built one, just build it. (Pro tip, you can put not complaint parts on it when youre """""out of NY"""""' and then put the ban state parts back on when back in NY.) foto_no_exif (42).jpg

I mean, yeah, the biggest issue with those is that they look retarded.

I think the SCR looks much less retarded, but it uses proprietary parts, which are priced accordingly.

A wood SCR in .308 with a nice wood fore end would be kinda nice, imho.

Well boys, after many nuts, bolts, bent spring metal, dremel, and a whole lot of nigger rigging, I've crafted a fun fuckaround drop leg holster for the jericho out of some aliexpress junk I bought for $14. Was meant for an HK USP compact, so I used an old LVL 2 retention holster with some creative dremeling, and a fast change system on the actual holster to swap between using it for the BUL and the Jericho. Don't have to change the mag retention since they both have the same mags. It's jank, but I'd be lying if I said I don't feel like Solid Snake fucking around with it on. The extra flashlight holster is bonus, too. Bought on a drunk whim to see if I could make anything serviceable out of it, and I'd be lying if I said that the aliexpress plastic felt any different to the FOBUS stuff.

What needs to be replaced in these things to be reliable? I know a lot of people do that, but I'm not familiar with the common failures turknellis get.
I used to own an ATI TACSX2 (no longer imported) and all I had to do was replace the o-ring on the gas system (mine came literally missing the o-ring, but most other owners reported it came damaged from the factory), do 100 rounds of break-in and it was perfect. Took Benelli Nova magazine extensions without modifications too so I slapped a +1 on there with no issues. The o-rings cost like $10 for a pack (several spares) and it was good as gravy. After the break-in, of course.

I wouldn't be surprised if poor quality, damaged or missing o-rings in the gas-operated Turkish shotguns is a common issue.
