I find full auto overrated, a 9mm carbine in full auto would be controllable but even 5.56 goes all over the place imho.
I can mag dump 20 rounds in a silhouette at 50 yards with a SCAR-17. I can't do it from standing and have to brace against something, but it's totally doable for me and I'm just some goober that knows a guy with lots machine guns for rent. M249 on the bipod feels like a laser, but it being 17 lbs empty has a lot to do with it.

Speaking of full auto, today was my pre xmas shopping and getting shit for my se/k/ret santa. So a trip to Sarco, a brewery and near by heritage firearms.

I said fuck it, and just out of sheer why not, I rented the 10.5" giggle AR they have, it's a HK416 too. I've shot there a few times and said I've never done FA with a piston AR then got chatting about how I'm going to a 11" SBR upper with a can for my HD set up said fuck it, I'll pay for a few mags. (plus was going to range anyways and had shit in car)

Now, this might be club rules but guy whom I loosely know and does range sign ups did say these HKs E mags only, lent me the ranges ones and said don't play with my own P mags or lancer or USGIs. I respect them, so I just ran the E mags, 0 problems but was this them doing a CYA? Are they really that picky?

As far as firing a FA piston now, I can say, loud... um recoil is quite alright what I expected, it's comped at the range, so indoor + comp yeah the bang shook me more than the bite. Quite reasonable to control.

I had a great time even tho at 50 yards with my m1. Thank goodness for the stall walls I didn't vomit my clips towards anyone lol. She shoots pretty well, but as I mentioned before for some reason the Garand bites for me, my sis looks like she took a few punches on it.

Had a nice chat with younger man (early 20s looked 12) who really liked the stuff I had on hand. One of the things I brought was my PTR clone MP5 that's got it's SBR stamp, let him run a mag thru it since much like myself he idolized it from media. Really nice to see someone's eyes light up doing their first HK slap. First time he touched a stamp gun either.

That's my diary, reddit. plz upboat.

Jokes aside, so I mentioned before got the stamp can yada yada, and finally picked out most of the stuff I want for my HD setup on my AR, on a price point and ease point, assuming optics, add ones etc already owned, should I just say fuck it and buy an 11" upper or build my own?

I managed to get my stripped lower today, and will have to build up cash before I build it.

I am thinking something with a 20 inch barrel like the M16 and a fixed A2 rifle stock with parts from BCM and a Bipod and Quad Rail free floating handguard.

Or buy a bipod for my existing AR but I feel like the muzzle blast will fuck up the finish on it since the Magpul Bipod points to the front while those bipods in my world war 2 games like the BAR in World at War faces to the rear.

Took my ARs out for some refreshing shooting at the range today, and ran about 200 rounds through my brand new Beretta 92x centurion. Highly recommend the Beretta, it's not shocking the 92 platform is still the gold standard for DA/SA pistols. I've heard complaints about their quality control from their Tennessee plant, but never had an issue with either of mine from there. The 92x Centurion has almost no kick, feels great in the hand, has a long trigger pull when decocked (wife could barely pull it at all) and it finds center of mass like it knows how to itself. Cannot sing its praises enough.

Years ago I used to own a Robinson XCR-L and was pretty tight with the folks at Robinson and was a regular on the XCR forum. We did a shooting trip for local forum members and a few of the Robinson employees out in the desert. The Robinson crew brought a couple of select-fire demo rifles and let us shoot them. We could shoot the rifles "as-is", or swap the upper receiver for our own XCR upper to see how our personal rifles would be on F/A. The XCR-L is a surprisingly nice and controllable rifle on full-auto.

This was an issue with previous gen Pmags which were modelled after the AR magwell. The magwell on the AR angles upwards from front to back and the ribs on the Pmag follow that form, but the HK416 magwell was designed around their "high reliability" mags that they made for the Br*tish when they fixed the L85. So their magwell angle is closer to the L85 and was never made to fix the external ribs on Pmags, and Magpul made the Emag to fit the Euro guns.

However this shouldn't be an issue with Gen 3 Pmags because Magpul changed the design so it could be issued to the Marines when they adopted the M27.
Regarding Lancers, I never heard of any issues so I don't know. Maybe they're just doing the typical gun range thing where they don't care about the actual issue and just put a broad rule in place.

Bipods go in the dirt, you will be fine.

as mentioned but also to add:
they are meant for the "constant curve" high reliability magazines from H&K and compatible designs. it will usually have wobble and develop problems with gen 1 and gen 2 PMAGs, gen 1 SA80 magazines, less ideal M16 magazines (the amazingly bad gen 1 OA mags), as well as several others. they do work well with Gen 3, E-Landers, Thermolds, and most Lancers i've tried (i have an HK416A3 variant so an A5 might be more forgiving, and the MR223 does not have this issue with magazine compatibility at all as they use a normal M16 magazine well design).

it's a bit funny to use AC Unity mags in an HK416, but i was curious if a $5 Bosnian magazine would get damaged easily in a rather over-gassed piston AR. they worked just fine.

Did a bit of shooting today. Just brought my bolt action stuff (.22 and 5.56) to keep the ammo usage down in those calibers, but also brought my mixmaster AK with a Holosun dot and random furniture sourced mostly from Apex. Not sure why, but everyone loves the beat to hell look of that thing - I barely shot a mag or two worth out of it and was more than happy to let other people play with it.

What are thoughts on this AK sold by Kalashnikov USA?

Nothing special except for the name; but if I had the money & patience, I'd hold out for a Bulgarian milled Arsenal.

It's not a true AK 103 because it doesn't fold.

Other than that, I haven't gotten to touch one yet so I have no idea how it stacks up against other US mfg AKs. I do know KUSA has the Kalashnikov TDPs and that they're probably a front company for the real KC to earn US revenue.

They unironically thanks to sanctions by Obama or Trump iirc.

They make a side folding one now, they just started like last month.

I went Romanian when I decided to buy an AK. The machining work is hilariously bad, but goddamn if it doesn't work great.

Romanian AKs are considered the lowest tier acceptable comm bloc AK. I have an decade old Wasr that has never given me issues but you can so obviously tell that the dude working on it was drunk.

Exactly! I find it hilarious that it's still not a bad rifle, but goddamn, it's not a good one.

Shot about 300 7.62x39 out of my ZPAP and M92 today along with 100 in the CZ scorpion and 65 in my latest P80 19 knock off.

Felt fucking great man! The MRO on the Scorpion was money. Was hitting 100 yard in the black with the M92 and 1.5 ACOG. Love me some Triji, love me some Yugos. Simple as.P

The p80 had only one FTFeed in the day. Great Sunday
