Its the 4th, what is a good starter AR that won't break the bank?
unironically the M&P15 with a decent red dot on top

:agree: lightweight and easy to carry (you may have medical supplies to carry)
:agree: accurate, probably more than you are if you're a starter (no offense they're just that good)
:agree: reliable (but has a forward assist if you use bad ammo)

So New York's new gun law came about in bill form and I expect if there's no major shift in the court's composition for them to get smacked down harder than CA, especially if Thomas is still around.

(s) any gathering of individuals to collectively express their constitutional rights to protest or assemble; the area commonly known as Times Square, as such area is deter- mined and identified by the city of New York; provided such area shall be clearly and conspicuously identified with signage.
Yes. You read that right, NY law bans the right to carry firearms in a protest, public playgrounds, parks, all public transport.

Also ammunition registration.

There shall be a statewide license and record database specific for ammunition sales which shall be created and maintained by the division of state police the cost of which shall not be borne by any municipality no later than thirty days upon designating the division of state police as the point of contact to perform both firearm and ammunition background checks under federal and state law.

Tamper resistant gun safes in cars just like CA
2. No person shall store or otherwise leave a rifle, shotgun, or firearm out of his or her immediate possession or control inside a vehi-cle without first removing the ammunition from and securely locking such 14 rifle, shotgun, or firearm in an appropriate safe storage depository out 15 of sight from outside of the vehicle.
Trenchcoats now illegal because they protect against .22, neets on suicide watch
any product that is a personal protective body covering intended 5 to protect against gunfire, regardless of whether such product is to be 6 worn alone or is sold as a complement to another product or garment.
Black powder firearms considered firearms as well, no more "non-commercial avalible ammo" so reloaders can get bent:
:(a) fixed metallic cartridge; or (b) each projectile and explosive charge are loaded individually for each shot discharged. In addition to common, modern usage, 48 rifles include those using obsolete ammunition not commonly available in commercial trade, or that load through the muzzle and fire a single 50 projectile with each discharge, or loading, including muzzle loading rifles, flintlock rifles, and black powder rifles
I want Thomas to end his decision with three words:
Sic semper tyrannis

PSA is cheap but based on firsthand experience people will bully you and push you down.
LOL, was actually going to get one from PSA since my friend also bought one and it would make it easy to get gear and practice taking it apart/cleaning it.

If I get the M&P15 Sport II what red dot do you suggest?

Primary arms, Sig, holosun.
Trijicon or aimpoint if you're a spender.

If you get a PSA build kit, get the Premium line

Was it PSA with the "proprietary" gas system or am I thinking of someone else?

Also, thoughts on the brownells 180 upper and similar? I like it for the folding stock but not so much for the "properietary and non-servicable" upper.

The BRN-180 seems to be well received and generally liked.
I have one of the BRN-180 lowers with a folding brace and a dedicated .22 upper on it.
If the upper is anything like the lower it should be ok.
Then again I have a stripped brownells slick side M16 upper that is kinda fucked up.

Foregrips & dongs have always looked goofy, especially on AKs. I've ditched all mine for smaller wedges/knobs; after finding they're much better for working around & shooting off corners & ledges, while allowing for a larger variety of holds/hand positioning.

I passed on this one because it has too much of a "hook", but it was a tough call.

I'm one of "those guys" that runs a barricade stop on my ARs because it's also a very handy hand stop while being low profile. I particularly like the SLR Rifleworks Mod 1 on them.

That's why I eventually settled on that first one; because while lacking aggressive texturing & being polymer instead of milled alloy, the grip-knob can function as a secondary barricade-stop as well.

I found I rarely used my old Magpul vertical foregrip as intended anyways, and buying gun parts/accessories from Amazon (despite their best efforts) is always satisfying.

While I sort of like the idea of Bezos gnashing his teeth about selling gun accessories, I'd much rather just give my money to the companies directly (if possible) or buying from a gun-specific joint.

I saw this, now it's y'all's turn.

See what all the talk about Romanian dongs started?

Normally I would, especially for more expensive, delicate, or electric parts; but every now & then I find something that doesn't seem to exist outside of Amazon (or Ali Express). Though lately I've been finding really real no-no gun parts listed as airsoft to skirt Amazon's rules, which has always been a thing, but in the past couple years it's become ubiquitous (almost like solvent traps).

Some of them are so blatant, I almost wonder if they're honeypots meant to ensnare people in specific states (i.e. California & Massachusetts) as a favor from Bezos, and are run by local PDs/agencies.

Support your local Guns-R-Us whenever possible. Part of Biden's gun control scheme has involved the ATF revoking FFLs over minor shit like clerical errors.
