The Second Amendment means what it says and Bruen reaffirmed that. Current "Assault Weapons Bans" and ones in the process of passing legislature are absolutely not going to survive constitutional review because there's no historical precedent of weapons regulations being imposed for the government to provide the safety of the general public (fun fact: the government is not responsible for public safety according to decisions in Deshaney V. Winnebago and Town of Castle Rock V. Gonzales) so we are effectively left to our own devices to protect ourselves. Quite literally anyone around you can carry a gun with the full intention to kill innocent people, someone deranged will get away with it, how will you stop it? Allowing more people to legally arm themselves and codifying protections for lawful gun owners that use a weapon to defend themselves is a great first step in fixing the problem.
It's incredibly fucking telling that the current line of attack is "Well it doesn't say 'purchase' or 'own' anywhere, so the government has to own them." They know the rest is iron fucking clad, they have to resort to no-hope word games.

IIRC the NFA is worded as a tax literally to avoid the constitution. It's (or was) technically not a ban, you just need a tax stamp (that itself was prohibitively expensive before inflation) that they only offer for some items. If the law was true in spirit to the constitution, anyone would be able to own anything, which was the case up until the 1930s. You could walk into a hardware store and buy a machine gun, or buy 12 pieces of field artillery to display in your garden.

That being said I know they are quite pricy but one day I'd love a liberator for my collection. Neat piece of history.

You could make something better for less with hand tools sure. But I do collect as well.

I really is ironic how a gun that was made to be absurdly cheap and disposable ended up being such an expensive collectors item (many thousands of dollars).

Thankfully, I have not yet been bitten by the bug of collecting authentic historic firearms... yet. No, my gun autism is around trying to acquire a firearm for every caliber of cartridge still in mass production. Range day logistics can get really fucked if i'm not careful. On the plus side, if the apocalypse happens and I run into an ammo stockpile, I should have something that shoots it :optimistic:.

FAVORITE RIMFIRE?

I have a Savage .17hmr with a .17hmr BDC scope, harris bipod. I call it the squirrel smasher.
Second pick is a pistol braced .22LR 7" AR-15 CMMG .22LR conversion kit, Folding stock with an knockoff aimpoint micro.

Null, don't look at me, I ignored his copy and paste anti2A ass, from the get go.

Airsoft for grown men? Autistic or just another gun sport?
(Like running around with 6 mags in a carrier shooting at each-other on designated field, not backyard plinking)

I'm temped af to throw $400 into a gun a mag carrier and some other shit and go looking for a field.

It's fun, just don't act like you are magically turned into a SOCOM Operator. Don't be an asshole who doesn't flag your hits, lord knows there's enough of those fuckers around, and i'm not talking about the ones who didn't notice either. I prefer paintball for that reason, but it still seems to be a dying sport.

Sometime they are going to make rugged and reliable laser-tag equipment which doesn't cost a fortune, and I think that will be the future. Will they ever make laser-tag equipment that doesn't make you look like a dork? no, that's the curse of having automatic hit detection.

Airsoft is dying sport or Paintball? I too have thought about the idea of some kind of effective laser tag system, all the systems I've seen were crap.

paintball, sorry, should have been clearer. Airsoft has gotten a massive resurgence lately.

Autistic. Prepare to deal with some of the spergiest man-children CoD cosplayers you have ever encountered, wearing what would be stitch-perfect recreations of current issue kit if it wasn't for the fact they were in size XXXXXL

I was a literal teenager last time I did paintball. Only thing I had were goggles.
Still more protection than I have seen on a bunch of young bucks in the second day of a weekend event. Some people just have to learn the hard way.

Ain't that the fucking truth. I know SCA members and Civil War re-enactors who are less spergy than some of these Couch Commandos.

Oh man, I have seen airsoft larpers with more gucci shit than I have and the government pays for some of mine. If you ask any of them if they ever served too, it's usually "I would have, but...". Cardinal rule, don't make excuses for your fuck ups.
