This is probably one of the most retarded things I've ever done to one of my guns. Found some French guy on eBay selling pic rails for cap and ball revolvers.

Not the worst thing I've ever seen, kinda "steampunk". How much did the mount cost?
$20 and $5 for international shipping. It got here in about 3 weeks. It's just 3D printed but no one else was selling them or any .stl files as far as I could find and I'm shit at designing my own 3D models to print so no big deal for me.
The French have very permissive laws for black powder guns (18 y/o, can buy without any loicenses) so I've noticed a lot of 3D printed muzzleloader doohickeys come from there. I vaguely recall an old greentext on /k/ where a French guy shot and killed a home invader with a Remington 1858 but can't find it.
I got a newer Spanish Mauser for 200 during COVID.
Every once in a while you get lucky.
My first gun was a Spanish Mauser for $185. I feel like Spanish/Turkish/Argentine/Yugo mausers and Carcanos are the final frontier for cheap milsurp. After that I'm not sure if any other surplus rifles will ever be affordable again with the way things are going.

How are Turkish Mausers? I've never shot them or a Yugo, can't be worse than a 19th century Styer.

Yesterday's trash is today's treasure - Turkish Mausers are usually shot out, Yugo Mausers lack historical significance for collectors. Argentine Mausers were ignored largely because of the proprietary 7.65×53mm Argentine chambering, though it's better off than the Carcano in that new production uses proper projectiles. Spanish Mausers are controversial because retards blew some up with Pakistani 7.62 NATO loaded with cannon powder back in the day so they'll always be cheap.

Swedish Mausers are still out there. Same deal with the Spanish Mausers in that you can't use spicy 6.5x55 that was common once upon a time and scared the shit out of boomers.
ETA: Surplus 6.5x55 is pretty bad, commercial is great. You've got issues from Swedish surplus losing velocity with age or just fouling incredibly quickly and thickly, Dutch surplus with loose jackets causing bore obstructions during firing, heavily corroded brass; that kind of thing.

i almost forgot about the turkish gewehr 88 i have in my home state. from the last time i checked everything worked smooth but i haven't shot it because i'm afraid i'll explode. should i even bother finding ammo that isn't too spicy for the rifle?

If it's got the cut for the longer spitzer projectiles it's a good sign, but if not you'll have to get into reloading with shorter bullets. EDIT: Even this is controversial - had to do a search as a refresher and people go back and forth about this too. Claims the pre-spitzer bore tapers down to .318 from .323 or whatever, the round nose being the same length as the spitzer, the moon not actually being made out of cheese; Uncut Gewehr 88s should use J suffixed loadings, otherwise you're fine with whatever. I don't care, milsurp discussion is mindnumbing cancer.
Commercial 7.92 isn't loaded hot(people bitch about them being underloaded often enough) and reloading is incredibly popular so you'll be okay either way until it comes to finding primers these days, god help you.

But in all honestly I'm just some asshole on the internet and I can't look over your gun with a jeweler's loop so if you're worried take it to a gunsmith that will inevitably tell you it's made out of comp B/TNT/asbestos.

So a person claiming to be a former CZ USA employee just posted an AMA to Reddit. Allegedly, CZ has decided to hand over control of U.S. operations to Colt, who they recently merged with, laying off most or all of the staff of their American branch in the process. Colt will be be handling production of the U.S. produced P-10M, all other P-10s will have their U.S. production ceased. Bren importation is dead, and Scorpion EVO3+ will continue to be produced in small batches. Hammer guns are safe, as they're imported and CZ's main moneymaker.

is this is true that's pretty hilarious. Sounds like there whole intention of the merger (buy-out) was to pick up a domestic company cheap to run the US division they clearly DON'T want to run. Why they DON'T want to run the US division, which I imagine makes up nearly the bulk of their sales, I could only imagine.

Buy the shittiest company you can afford and let them run your business into the ground - is this conscious self-sabotage or are they just stupid?

His is legitimately horrifying.

CZ goes and makes a great business then willingly decides to sell it to goddamn COLT!

FUCK COLT, CZ should have sold to Ruger, Savage, hell even PSA
