a lever action .303 with 150gr round nose might be a pretty fun thing if it's a wood brass and steel martini henry/ruger no1 abomination that actually works... might have to scrounge around for parts

So you mean the Winchester 1895a lever action .303
Without knowing which specific plates you may be talking about, I'll just say this:Anyone else notice how cheap armor plates have gotten? a 3A set is like $60. IDK what I'd want one for but, that seem stupid cheap.
Thank you for the advice, Its Tactical scorpion brand, You've got me curious , whats wrong with AR500?Without knowing which specific plates you may be talking about, I'll just say this:
Do your research.
1. Stay the hell away from AR-500 or other steel plates
2. Do not trust positive YouTube reviews from big name channels who's content seems to mainly consist of shilling products and promoting whatever new gimmicks/trends
3. NIJ rated is NOT NIJ certified
4. Do not trust anything manufactured in China
Lets say for whatever reason, you're wearing your larp gear and you're taking fire. Ok, you get unlucky and someone hits you, but you get hit in the plate. Still unlucky. Why? Because the bullet chips just spalled upwards into your throat, sideways into your arms, and downwards into everything else.whats wrong with AR500?
Plates are Chinese, stay awayThank you for the advice, Its Tactical scorpion brand, You've got me curious , whats wrong with AR500?
copy pasted from the manufacturer:
** This model complies with NIJ Standard-0101.06 for Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor.**
NIJ tested Level IIIA Armor will defeat 5 pistol round shots up to .44 magnum @ 1474 ft/s @ 17.3 FT.
Oh man, Tactical Scorpion Gear (East West Consolidated LLC) this ones an interesting one.
They import their ceramics and PE from China, and they appear to assemble it here.
If you look on their website, under testing reports, they have their NIJ shoot test results posted.
Mind you, this is just a single shoot test, the full certification involves dozens of plates, drop tests, temperature tests, etc.
If you look for the backface deformation reading (usually labeled BF, BFS, BFD) you will see many of their plates actually EXCEED the NIJ maximum of 44mm. I think one of their models was up to 52mm.
Many of their plates were exhibiting backface deformation readings synonymous with large caliber hunting rifle rounds, simply from 5.56.
Full disclosure, I am a vendor so I work in the industry. Theres a lot of things about the armor industry I really dislike. So don't see this as simply attacking a competitor, I believe in transparency.
i was thinking of more of a "handy carbine" type closer to the 1892 but oh well, i guess a box magazine vs a tube magazine would be much more practical. So you mean the Winchester 1895
If you're looking for a project, you could always get some meth and try to make a lever-action with a Krag mag.i was thinking of more of a "handy carbine" type closer to the 1892 but oh well, i guess a box magazine vs a tube magazine would be much more practical.
Krags (and Johnsons) are chopped up enough as it isIf you're looking for a project, you could always get some meth and try to make a lever-action with a Krag mag.
Buy unused parts, dummy. Weld an unused Krag mag to a Winnie and cross your fingers.Krags (and Johnsons) are chopped up enough as it is![]()
If you do this make me one please, I'll take your good faith and send a blank check. I have a sad 303 fetish.a lever action .303 with 150gr round nose might be a pretty fun thing if it's a wood brass and steel martini henry/ruger no1 abomination that actually works... might have to scrounge around for parts

That pic made me shiver. Not sure if out of horror or thrill.Since we’re on the topic of British guns and lever actions, does anyone else remember this custom job someone made a couple years back? 44 mag belt fed bullpup lever action since bongs don’t have any magazine limit laws.

100% agree, I'll say the ONE YT person who kinda shills but who I still trust is Mrgunsngear as he actually shoots helmets and vests to failureWithout knowing which specific plates you may be talking about, I'll just say this:

This is looks like what a video game designer who has never seen a real gun before would come up with.Since we’re on the topic of British guns and lever actions, does anyone else remember this custom job someone made a couple years back? 44 mag belt fed bullpup lever action since bongs don’t have any magazine limit laws.

How is that heresy? People have been doing it for years. This is looks like what a video game designer who has never seen a real gun before would come up with.
Anyway for me I'm in the process of making a 5.56 Krinkov. It's AK heresy but I was never interested in getting into 5.45 when most every other rifle I have is 5.56 or 7.62. Basically just taking an Arsenal SLR-106UR, then cutting the barrel. Got a triangle stock on it and some Krink wood on order from Combloc Customs.
Eh, to some people if it's not a commie caliber then it's heresy. Probably more so in the days before the Russian ammo ban.How is that heresy? People have been doing it for years.
Although it'd have probably just been cheaper for you to get a M85 and get a stock put on. Krinkov also is just made up terminology, the Russians never called them that.
