IIRC Eugene Stoner's kids came out saying that Eugene believed the AR-15 should never be in civilian hands and is a weapon of war.

Did John Browning's kids ever do something like that or any other gun inventor?
If he truly believed that he was a complete retard because after Armalite sold the design to Colt the first fucking thing they did was sell it to civilians.

It was on the civilian market *before* it was adopted by the military.

It didn't really get popular until after Vietnam AFAIK, but it was not unheard of for civilians to own them.

I know, if he had a problem with us serfs owning them he never mentioned it or complained during his lifetime or decades the weapon was being sold over the counter to ever Tom, Dick and Harry that wanted it. I personally think his children are just bowing to the woke crowd for brownie points.

On the subject of rad things I just finished fixing up a beater 629 a customer sold me at my shop. $600 into it for a really badass and nice shooting revolver now.

Since /k/ is run by nigger lovers and its sometimes boring to go to /pol/ to look into the latest gun control talk.

Here is what is part of the big bill passed by the following fudd lovers.

Was this the gubbmint funding bill for next year?

That's usually how the grabbers do it. They sneak in incrementalist efforts like these into omnibus bills. They know Republicans either won't look at it, or don't care enough to vote against them because they don't wanna be seen as "causing a gubbmint shutdown".

Badass my guy. A stainless 44's worth of bang. What's the barrel length on this big boy, and any interesting quirks?

The thing that annoys me the most is the ATF's funding increase. More funding means more raids, more monitoring, more agents. All of its bad, but the thing I say is the worst is the guys that can bust down your doors getting a raise to the tune of 14.1%

One of the big reasons why I like 10mm is that is is the most powerful "popular" handgun cartridge that is available in a handgun that is even vaguely concealable. If I could CC a .44 Mag Revolver, or a S&W 500 I would. However, due to the fact that most anything more powerful than 10mm is relegated to massive big bore revolvers, even shoulder holsters under a suit jacket can't conceal them (and I have tried).

I like having my CC gun also be my wildlife protection handgun. If I am going to be in an area where grizzly bear encounters are likely I am bringing my AR-10. The worst I really have to deal with is the occasional sounder when I am hiking around home, and road-rage/pavement ape incidents when traveling. Good 10mm loads handle those tasks just fine.
Wasn't there some super-tacticool 10mm pistol shilled by Jeff Cooper that turned out to be a lemon?

It's a 6.5 inch, same as my 29-2. It's a round butt model and is ported as well. Since it didn't have any rear sights when I bought it I put the LPA stainless fiber optic sights on it, went with the red dot capable model so I eventually am going to throw a red dot on it. Might use it as a torture device for the cheapo red dots we get in at work. Would be hilarious to see how many rounds of .44 Magnum the $40 AIM reflex sight can survive. I put the charcoal Pachmayr American Legends grip on it since it had the bullshit hogue overmolds on it.

Was it the Bren Ten? I think the company had some manufacturing troubles - couldn’t get production numbers up but my memory is pretty hazy on the details.

I remember the Delta Elite seemed to be the only 10mm commercially available for a long time and wanting one badly. But my experiences with a full-sized Colt in 9mm, and a Glock 29, eventually cooled my Delta Elite lust.

You'll probably hate me for saying this but the Delta Elite is actually really nice if you want a 1911 in 10mm; I've shot a few though and they do handle smooth so if you get a chance to try one I'd recommend it. I really want another .38 Super 1911, I had one for a while but I let it go because I'm a retard.

That was the Bren Ten. A perfect example of why quality control and product design testing is important.

You also had the 1076 but I’m not sure if S&W sold them to the public.

The problem with 10mm is that technological advances in self defense ammo along with +P have made it redundant compared to 9mm. In 1980 your choice was many rounds of 9mm JHP which wouldn’t penetrate deep enough to stop a threat, 8 rounds of 45 which wasn’t much better, or 6 rounds of 357 Mag or 44 Rem Mag. The whole point of the 10 was to stick the energy of a 357 in an auto loading package that held more then the normal 7+1 of the 1911. I do think it would have taken off more if the limp wristed Fibbies hadn’t dumbed it down.

With the government not dictating specs the industry has been going back to what the original goal was, a 200gr bullet going over 1,000 fps at 50 yds.

The reason it has become popular with back county folks is that it’s energy puts it between 357 Mag and 44 Rem Mag yet gives you more then twice the shots with a modern double stack.

what with the holidays going on i got to see my younger cousin and he's started his collection off with a .44 and a 12ga. he asked if he could have my mosin and fuck it little buddy, ask and you shall receive. he's out here in the south to visit but will be flying back to washington. what would be the best way to send that mosin out with him?

laws vary by state, but typically if he's legally able to purchase that firearm from a dealer, he can be gifted that firearm as a bona fide gift from immediate family members (the state in which he resides and the state where the transfer takes place may have some restriction on that which details the nature of the familial relationship). not that federal rules still apply to the gift, meaning no prohibited persons, if it's a controlled item (title ii) then the appropriate ATF form must be filed prior to transfer, et c. rifles and shotguns typically do not need special arrangements for gifting, but handguns sometimes do, depending on the state of residence and the state in which the transfer occurs.

as he's flying back to washington, if he wants to fly with the rifle he will need to have secure transport (locked hard case strongly recommended, and no you do not need "TSA" approved locks) and cannot keep ammunition in the same case as the firearm. firearm transport on aircraft should be declared during check in if it's not carry-on. carry-on usually must not be in a "ready to fire" state either, but that varies by specific airline.

he can also ground ship the firearm to himself. the package must be secure and sanitized of all "this is a firearm" obvious markings and cannot be shipped with ammunition in the same package. unlike handguns, you can ship a rifle or shotgun through the USPS, however handguns are restricted to common carriers only and typically require next day service when possible. the specific package carrier will have instruction available either online or in their store.

There is never carry-on for firearms for normal people, always checked and declared when checked. Always locked with a non-tsa lock and hard sided. Personally I'd recommend a case that does not look like a firearm case.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Just don't be too open and you will probably be ok. What you should be worried about is why Obama was buying a metric shit ton of hollow point 5.56 for the post office and IRS and how Kamala, I mean Biden could weaponize that against you.

Speaking of, and being 1911-adjacent...
now & then I still see .38 Super conversion/barrels being sold for the TT-33, which is what I eventually picked up for a stainless Model 213 (originally in 9mm).

Being that .38 Super is far more common in S. America & the Model 213 is rather fancy for the average commie sidearm, my personal headcanon is that it belonged to a "courier" pilot with shady links to Pinochet, and used either caliber depending on which hemisphere he was flying to.

Marstar had them for a while years back & a few other places, but it's been a long time since I've seen any being sold from an online storefront. Even less common are 9x23 barrels, which is what I've always wanted to get my hands on.

Pray tell, how do you make an encased Mosin not look like a firearms case?
Pool cue hard travel-case? An M44/M38 carbine barrel & receiver might fit with the bolt pulled out, with minor modification to the case. Possibly even a 91/30.

Edit: eh, still would have to ship the stock separate. Pretty much any hard-case I can think of long enough to fit a whole Mosin, is going to look/feel like it's got a rifle in it.
