Look man, with the way thing are going as of late behind the scenes of procurement, I would have given it a coin-flip chance of happening.I figured they were going to be up and running again. There are items in the DoD inventory that use black powder.
Military procurement has been a shitshow for a long time, arguably it has never been "good." However the ability to get necessary shit through used to be easier. Lobbying was always a semi-required condition, after all it is politicians and the political military that bought the products. However now the manufacturer has to enforce ideological compliance, Bio-Leninism included, if they want to sell anything. Of course HR and the Managerial Caste, myself NOT included, were more than happy to be handmaidens in that takeover. Combine the above with "I Fucking Love Science" levels of understanding the military from the Political Caste. Which is to say they have just enough knowledge to be able to make the most retarded decisions.
These have been faster growing problems since the end of the Cold War, and exponentially so since the 2000s. The current crop of retardation is so strong that we are now blocking the building of new munitions facilities for "environmental reasons" on land that is already being used for the manufacture of these exact munitions. Mind you, this is the same crew which has deemed the Ukraine War so important that we are stripping global Ready Reserves and and Active Duty units of their shells and missiles so that we may ship them over to that damned war.
To bring it back around, I am half surprised that they aren't holding up the GOEX facility for some ephemeral reason.
