Can anyone recommend or point me in the direction for reputable resources to learn about different options for concealed carry holsters for women?
modern: Tactica Defense belly band
older source, but still valid: nrawomen.com's archives somewhere.
edit: S&W video info, pretty solid options and explanations in clear concise language. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTakrNLkhmI

functionally the options are identical to men's with two exceptions: inside waistband holsters have to be specifically fitted so the draw isn't going inwards and getting caught on something or being obstructed by body shape (appendix or kidney carry encouraged) and purse carry is dumb but better than nothing as long as you realize your purse also has your gun and losing your purse or putting it down also separates you from your gun, or gives control of it to someone else. purse carry also has issues if you don't have a dedicated carry "pocket" that would avoid negligent discharge or "losing" the gun among debris in the purse. consider also a purse is often a target of theft - so a missing purse you lose your wallet, your gun, and now have an armed thief out somewhere, et c.

i'll also add that gimmick holsters (flashbang, et c) usually aren't ideal due to changing women's fashions and that a gun under a thin blouse hanging from a bra isn't particularly "concealed" - especially when your chest tends to be an area that draws the eye. ankle holsters can be hit or miss depending on pants and foot wear, and fitted legs on pants can hinder the draw significantly. policewomen i've worked with that carried a concealed backup pistol regularly tended to prefer kidney/small of the back carry or appendix with a slim pistol like a Walther PDP or a Glock 48.

further edit: the old school granny carry method was a snub .38 stainless (S&W model 60 specifically but there are plenty that fit the bill) in a dedicated purse pocket with some cardboard or something to maintain shape and smooth the walls. no mags to mess with, unlikely to snag, but possible that a fold of material can get between the hammer's firing pin and the FP channel without the smoothing material. stainless was also resistant to weathering and a steel snub with 158gr LRN was small enough for most women's hands and heavy enough to tame most if not all recoil.

Armed and Styled
This video from PHLster.
Women have to adjust to having different clothing styles, and a different body shape than men.

I wouldn't recommend purse carry, simply because that is the #1 target in a grab and go robbery, and if you lose control of that purse you've now given somebody a free gun.
Also, because women leave their purse everywhere, or at least that's been my experience.

I know this isn't about guns, but i have narrowed down some quality options for a new knife that i want and it isnt crappy stainless steel, hollow pommel with malfuctioning compasses crap.
  1. Glock 78 or 81, second best price overall in Brazil, although its very easy to fake, i'm worried i might pay for a chink copy
  2. Ontario Survival knife, smallish kabar look alike with leather scabbard, looks neat and has a sharpening stone although its small, cheapest foreign knife
  3. Kabar 1219, the usmc version without the serrated bottom edge is unobtanium and 50% over the price of it, there's also the smaller variants for the same price as the ontario usaf one
  4. Imbel IA2 bayonet knife or it's larger AMZ jungle knife, both are made for bayonet use for our polymer fal copy, there's no info about it other than its full tang and made with 1070 carbon steel, its the cheapest overall here in local currency.

So what I’m hearing is I can’t dress slutty anymore. Got it!

Glock 81 is a fantastic knife, good for throwing, but don't try to make PB&J or the peanut butter will stick in the sawback. (:_(

I own 1 and 2. I've had the survival knife for damn near 25 years. That gets my vote. Plus it survived a nasty house fire.

Back to guns, aside birding with my FiL not much to report. I traded a bunch of turkey shot for a Giselle trigger. Not sure what gun to put it in I have 2 possible ARs.

I'm also semi local to sweaty bill if anyone wants/needs info or anything from em.

7.62x39 will deliver a larger, heavier bullet, at higher muzzle velocity than 5.45 at closer range.
Higher muzzle velocity? Really?
I'd much rather use a 7.62x51/308 semi auto over an AK, but there is no need to rush out an buy a SCAR.
I can promise you there's much better .308 rifles out now than the SCAR, and for a whole lot less money. The PWS Mk218 (I know from owning and running one), the CMMG Mk3, the Ruger SFAR, stuff from Aero Precision, the Sig Tread, some stuff from DS Arms, etc.
Assuming att things are equal heavier bullets retain terminal velocity better which means deeper penetration and more energy hitting the important bits.
Terminal velocity (on a bullet fired from a weapon)? Energy hitting important bits? My fellow young black scholar, study a little bit of physics and some wound ballistics science from Martin Fackler.
because I have a pre-64 model 94 that I get star-spangled boners every time I shoot
Fucking nice! I'm a little jealous.

Was a little off. Wolf ammo on the same product line of 'Polyformance' is showing the 5.45 pushing a 60 grain pill at 2936fps. While their 7.62 is pushing a 123 or 125 grain pill at 2410fps. Doesn't mention barrel length but I'm guessing it is a consistent length for their charts.

I was using the SCAR to make a point, it's one of the most well known semi-auto .308's, and the first .308 that came to mind.

the Glock fakes are often two piece epoxy crap around a shit steel blade that may or may not be full tang. easiest way to test: Glock molds the grip as a single piece around the partial tang and it's not possible to remove the handle without destroying it. this is because the rest of the handle's space is taken up by a tube for use as a bayonet. the genuine Glock knife always has the capped tube for use as bayonet, not all fakes do. the finish is mediocre and wears, but the metal itself is treated and has a slight golden color when in strong light due to the treatment. the bolster is always STAMPED, never embossed or electro penciled, and will have the Glock logo with the model as a plain number underneath the "Made in AUSTRIA" marking. additionally the GFK 81 will always have 16 teeth, never more or less. i prefer the older Glock 78 personally, but both the 78 and 81 are great field knives.

military issue Glock knives come in a scabbard with wax paper packed 20 to a box with a two-sided sharpening stone. retail packages look like this:

there was also an anniversary model in a Glock pistol case.

the Imbel IA2 bayonet seems decent enough, but i have more experience with the older Mk 2 bayonet (since i own an Imbel M964 and it came with that), and for a work knife the Mk 2 does what a knife needs to do.

Stock photo, but I have it. Not a bayonet, really meant to be light and for you to jump out of a plane with and survive if you have to. Has a saw on the back that works decently, the blade is pretty nasty, and it has two holes in the guard so you can put string or wire thru it and tie it to a stick for a spear. Pretty cool ngl

2011/High End 1911 style "Comp Block" but for Glocks and P320's from Trinity Nevada. The Gold section is an intergal part of the barrel, making the configuration 50 state legal. This style of compensation is usually seen on high end 2011's like the Stacatto XC or Nighthawk TRS Comp.

GunCAD Dev "s3igu2" (hereby referred to as just s3) has been on a streak lately.
Firstly he has CAD'd up a concept for a printable AK auto sear that he plans to develop in to a Hoffman Super Safety style FRT (as a result of this action, Niggas from the hoods across America felt a sense of unexplained elation as they clutched they Draco's)
1699458330113.png
He has already made progress converting it to an FRT, current version doesn't allow for semi auto fire. more images in the links
1699459015687.png
The big caveat is that there will eventually be two different versions, one for "real" AK's and one for 3D Printed Plastikov Receivers. Plastikov according to s3 will have the option of having semi auto but not factory guns due to I assume different receiver geometry and the fact the Plastikov uses an HK style fire control unit thingy that is a distinct piece and not homogenous to the receiver. yet again more images in the links
Plastikov V4 specific FRT

Actual print of one
1699459240690.png
He's also making (fuck me this guy does a lot of trigger work) a new style of AR DIAS that will work with both high and low shelf lowers, will need only a modified M16 selector (will be releasing a jig to aid in modification and a Printable selector with the correct geometry) all other FGC parts are standard.

This dude has put out like 20 images just of these three projects in the last week and I haven't even touched on how he's making the SF5 3D Printed MP5 work with AR-15 FRT's
To get a full scope of this man's work scroll through his X or Nitter feed, I simply cannot summarize it all here.

These are all stepping stones towards making machinegun convictions as common as marijuana convictions, which will one day maybe possibly hopefully lead to a similar decriminalization movement (although chapping the ATF's asshole is an equally desirable outcome)

A guy on reddit has made improved versions of the old magpul grip storage inserts for their AR grips. With versions that hold a spare bolt+cam pin+ firing pin and one that holds an 18650 battery.

3D Printed gunsphere personality AGcast has put out his month in review video for GunCAD projects that entered Beta in the month of October. Featured is the V2 update of the .45 ACP "Big-Point" frame, a new ECM rifling package that includes tooling for 16'' 9mm barrels with plans to expand to other cartidges in the future and the aformentioned SF5 FRT by s3
Warning: lethal levels of weebshit used as background footage in this video

I got one from my S-4 NCOIC in '05, who needed a goretex jacket to fill a hole in his hand-receipt; he got a box of them horse-trading with his Air Force counterpart in a squadron who was redeploying home.

It is definitely better/stronger than the new manufacture blades, one of which I bought from Dunham's not long ago because I didn't want to fuck up the one I carried downrange.

My original went through two deployments & saw heavy use in the motorpool back in garrison, and lived permanently in my truck after getting out. The leather grip & sheath withstood being baked by the sun, getting completely soaked in cherry juice & 80/90w, and being crammed down in the depths of my tool bag for years, etc. I used it for damn near everything; cutting hydraulic lines & coolant hoses, stripping wire, popping holes in sheet-metal & oil cans, opening the 55gal drums, notching/splitting lumber, as a fucking hammer, etc. And it's still as tight & true as ever.

But the new one fucking bent at the hand-guard the first time I tried using it to open some paint cans, and next the pommel popped off when I tried to strip some battery cable. The whole thing came apart, and then the tang snapped off the blade when I tried to straighten it. So whatever they did since my original was made turned them into fucking garbage.

Which trigger did you get? I've only ever run their SSPs, both the flat and the curved bows. Anything else I use is typically mil-spec or very near it (ALG Defense and BCM).

That looks handy for batteries. I've been taping batteries to the rifle for years. It work but this looks like a more secure solution.

Have we talked safari rifles or lever actions in the thread yet? My only experience with safari rifles are the early 90s produced CZ 550 I have in .375 H&H (which inspired me to take up reloading), and a friend who let me get some trigger time with his Winchester Model 70s in .416 Rigby and .404 Jeffrey. The .375 has some stout recoil to it and the other two are fucking heavy thumpers. I'm interested in trying some larger calibers, maybe the .505 Gibbs. The Nitro Express stuff scares me some, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be down to fire a round or two from the .585 Nyati. Another safari rifle I'd be interested to acquire is a Ruger No.1 Tropical, likely in .375 as well, but I'd take one in .458 Lott as well.

For lever actions, I'm quite interested in the Marlin 1895 SBL. I like the idea of its increased sight radius and mounting options. I've never owned a centerfire lever action rifle before. I bought a rather expensive Marlin 39A back in 2011 that was dogshit (no clue why Marlin's QC was so atrocious back then). I ended up selling it at decent loss just to be rid of the thing. Too bad too, because I love tube magazine .22 rifles and I'd heard good examples of the 39A are fantastic.

Another lever action I had some moderate interest in was this one. That price tag and the .500 S&W not being far more ballistically potent than .45-70 makes it a hard pass, but it is interesting to see folks making these.

Me, my dad let me have his he got from his time in the air force. I'll admit I haven't used it as much as yours, mostly it's a box opener, but I've found once you sharpen it up, it keeps its edge. Oddly enough, despite being first issued in 1958, and having a replacement, pilots sometimes still get them from what I read.

Personally I'm interested in the new marlins. I'd like one of those in 45-70, it'd make a good bear gun to be sure, and look snazzy with their stainless options

I like Style Me Tactical
Especially for summer options. She shows a lot of IWB appendix carry which is nice since a lot of wildcard search results seem to want me to carry in my bra or something.

I didn't care for the holster designs but I ended up getting a custom one locally.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
I was recently reminded of the existence of the SRM Arms 1216 shotgun (named so as it can hold up to 16 rounds of 12 gauge ammunition). The gun is entirely unique as it utilizes four separate magazine tubes and has a roller delayed operating mechanism. What I did not know is that SRM also made smaller, more compact models with a correspondingly smaller magazine capacity. As far as I can tell these were only ever prototypes. What I also find curious is that despite as far as I can tell never making any kind of Police or Military sales, domestic or foreign, SRM Arms continues to operate.
The guns were catapulted into popular consciousness by none other than Call of Duty: Black Ops II which featured a fully automatic version.
1699546387485.png

Curiously, despite their propensity for the manufacture of all types of shotguns, Turks haven't cloned them until fairly recently (the earliest reference I can find to them online with a quick search is a youtube video from may of 2021, there are zero articles from any gun blogs or sites)

A few weeks ago I made a post highlighting a project for a DIY Pseudo MP-7 from Dev AllMyKnickers. I have come across another such project that is a chassis for PSA Rock 5.7 pistol internals. Much less complex than the AMK design which uses CMMG Dissent Parts (not to say this new design is superior in anyway, the AMK design is badass).
1699546930232.png

Next we have a new release from The Black Lotus Coalition, and it's developer, no this can't be, it's impossible! THE DEV IS A TRANNY!
Being serious for a moment the release actually looks pretty cool. A pump action rifle that is semi auto in .22 and 9mm. Uses AR parts.
1699547945669.png
I actually did a small write up about the tranny who made this gun a while back and the controversy he was associated with in the tranch thread.
