pic isn't mine, but it's the exact same model. It's an S&W Pre-Model 10, 5-Screw. And it already has. I love this thing. It's a frankenstein's monster of parts, since it rotted under floorboards in the damp so long, but it has not once gave me a click when I wanted bang. I'd advise picking one up if you run across them, they are just high spec little tanks
Honestly want a Model 10 or a surplus Nagant for my next revolver, finally getting into full sized. I find it cool the Model 10 was in the military until after the gulf war

That's a nice looking apex trigger in that M&P how do they perform? Been thinking of getting one for my 509 but not at the full price. Also lots of talk about polymer striker fired pieces for carry the FN509 is a solid candidate feels great, comes with a crowned barrel out the box and the case doubles as one of those binders you could fit a Bible in.

Next up, a pajeet knock-off Norinco (or maybe Zastava): the Signet "Combat Stainless 90" in the totally combat-effective .32 Auto.
Isn’t India one of the last places where .32 is fairly popular? Iirc Webley (which lives on in India) sells one of the few modern .32 automatics.

I am thinking about purchasing a .380 double stack, I am thinking about the LCP MAX but want to know how good it is. Ideally I actually want a Beretta 84 just for the Death Wish cosplay, but it seems too expensive for me. I am open to other suggestions.

Also would a 10mm Hi-Point carbine be better for home defense than the 9mm? I kinda want something with a bit more range and power, but don’t know if the additional cost and recoil is worth it.

Go retro and get yourself a CZ83 they're still fairly cheap. A Bersa wouldn't be out of the question if you can find them from what I remember they don't have the presence they did in the past and don't do their own importin.

Check gunbroker. Can get lucky, there's some Beretta 84s on there right now for less than 100 bid. Probably won't go any higher than $3-350. Missed the import crate boat by a year, we got my wife's last year when a crate came in for around $250. VERY well loved, but still plenty of life. Only had to replace the firing pin.
Or, if you want the look and function without Beretta price, there are about 4 or 5 "clones" of the Cheetah. See the Taurus model I referenced earlier. Can't speak to their quality, but hard to make a shitty gun if you are doing a 1:1 rip off.
Edit: But prepare yourself. I think it is a neat little gun. Perfect for fiance, she's small and the gun feels normal sized for her. I am also small, 5'11 and never weighed above a buck 50 my whole life, medium sized hands. Might be because I'm used to revolvers and thinner 1911/Jericho style pistol, but it simultaneously feels really fat in my hands but also small and stubby.

It was proofed in the london UK proof house at some point in the 1850s. Uberti parts seem to fit fine for the most part. Cylinder nipples are frozen so If i wanted to shoot it i'd either have to get them drilled out or buy a new cylinder.

You'd be better off throwing a hi-point at somebody than trying to use it as an actual weapon

Holy shit, that makes my heart leap. Navy caliber? And yeah, Uberti should go on with a tiny but of filing. The gunsmith that Kirst Konverters uses told me that generally, Uberti parts are either like 0.1 too small, or 0.1 too big in reference to actual colts. Piettas tend to run anywhere from 0.2 to 0.4 and some change too big, but never too small. so you may have more luck with Pietta parts and some careful filing.

I've been tinkering around with it for awhile. I think it was a wall decoration or something. It had a really shitty almost brown colored splotchy blueing job which i have been removing chemically. The bore is surprisingly fine. its not dark but nor pitted at all. unfortunately the cylinder scene was polished off at some point. there is only a hint of it in a place or two. The edges on inside of the frame are still sharp enough to cut.

Really? Everything I’ve heard regarding Hi-point carbines says that they are perfectly acceptable, even from people who think the handguns are dogshit.

If youre going to be using it for self defense it certainly isnt something id want to rely on with my life. It could be serviceable as a plinkster though

Think the reputation comes from this Garand Thumb video where he got one that just wouldn't shoot 50% of the time.

As long as it goes bang it can't be too much worse than any other simple blowback PCC.

These guys are fair priced and have been keeping my old smokewagons running. Also they are open communication, if you have questions, or want them to measure a screw for you, they will.

indian gun law has specific caliber restrictions and specific calibers that are unrestricted or only partially restricted (pistol vs rifle) and they have a specific categorized licensing system similar to the UK in many ways:
Who can acquire a gun in India?

According to the 1959 Act, firearms are categorised into two as- Prohibited Bore (PB) and Non Prohibited Bore (NPB). The bore refers to the diameter of the bullet.

According to Chapters II and III of the Act, all civillians can apply for possession of NPBs, which includes guns of caliber .35, .32, .22 and .380.

Prohibited Bore weapons include pistols (9 mm) and handguns of caliber .38, .455 and caliber .303 rifles, as well as automatic and semi-automatic guns. While NPBs can be possessed by any civilian, PBs are usually issued to defence personnel. Prohibited Bores are also issued to people who are facing imminent threats, or live in terrorist-prone areas as well.

Not sure about the M&P, but I have an Apex trigger in my P320. Combined with the overtravel stop, it's a pretty freaking solid upgrade for not a ton of money.

Reminds me a lot of those Chinese bootleg pistols from the 1920s. Massive fiber optic sights on them and a 10-round magazine, straight blowback single stack, very simple gun. Here's some Pajeet talking about it in Hindi.

For those unaware, the legal firearm situation in India is pretty unique, there's a very narrow list of firearms that are approved for permit holders to own, which consists primarily of .32 ACP semiauto pistols, .22lr revolvers and bolt action rifles, 8x50mmR (referred to in India as .315) bolt action rifles, .30-06 bolt action rifles, I believe just one 12ga shotgun, and .32 S&W Long revolvers, which I believe are all Webley pattern. All were manufactured by IOF, which is a state-owned company. This new company Signet seems like it might be a private venture and this is a new design? I have no idea, there is very little in English about them. I've heard the IOF handguns are pretty crappy. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them imported, just to see what the prices and quality are like.

He may have just gotten a bad gun, I don't know of any other vid I've seen on them where they've failed to fire. I do know that most people who report problems are usually using the extended mags.

there's an awful lot more people out there will perfectly working ones. mags are hit or miss and Hi Point will happily do exchanges to get you working ones. iirc they literally have among the best warranties in the industry.

Also, thought you all might get a kick out of this. For reference, my land was settled just a bit after the Revolutionary War and kept in the same family to this day. The house I live in was built in 1910, and we have oooooooold shit everywhere. Found this in the gunsafe built into the wall. It is turning into dust, I need to scan it eventually.
Just thought you all might like to see that, yes, you could always buy a cannon. Even the cutting edge gatling gun. And you used to just fucking mail order catalogue for it. You want a musket used in the Revolution? That's gonna run you $12, rich boy.
Makes me sick looking through it, though. I can see the X's where the man who built the house, we'll call him G (gun nut and militaria nut) marked off things he had bought. According to FIL, some not so good family ransacked G's house after he passed and sold everything that wasn't nailed down. Civil War pistols, suits of Armor, Muskets from the Revolution, Swords used in the Napoleanic War, ammo, outfits, etc..... I was lucky to have found his WW1 pistol he was smart enough to put under the floorboards after having it nickel plated. I coulda accidentallied into a dream collection. Will end up scanning the rest of this once I buy a cheap scanner, will upload it somewhere for kiwis to browse through at their leisure.
