I recently watched a podcast about an unsolved murder:

Kind of a crazy case, husband has his car set on fire to bait him outside where he is killed with a single shotgun blast to the chest. Most likely murdered for pissing off a labor union. The reason I post this here is because police found the murder weapon in the shrubs outside the house and apparently were unable to identify the exact model. All that is know is that it was a single shot 20 gauge bolt-action and was manufactured before serial numbers were required on all firearms (pre-GCA).

There is also this photo, and I’m curious if anyone here could identify it (not trying to play detective, just curious):

J stevens 20 gauge. its not a single shot, it holds 3+1. you can see the magwell in the photo but it seems like the mag is gone making it a single shot.

Aeroshell 33 'sure it's ridiculously priced for basic bitch grease but it's MILSPEC HOOAH' autism gang?
Aeroshell 33 isn't military specification, Aeroshell 33MS is. it's also not a general purpose lubricant, but mostly an anti-seize high pressure grease for large threads (barrel nut, receiver extension castle nut). in some aircraft and ships it's also used in high pressure bearings for M61 gun assemblies and a few other applications. also Aeroshell 33MS was replaced by Aeroshell 64 a few years back.

i've bought and sold off CG for years (including having a founder's account). it's gotten significantly worse as years have gone on and redditors from liberal gun owners basically reinforced the existing lefty user base of cope huffers with further and further leftward ideology, which started polarizing people after 2008 especially and 2016 since the line was if you weren't coping or giving up more of your "rights" to the DNC super majority in CA, you were a budding facist and all the worst that deplorables could muster.

eventually CG got enough of a base of people out of the right side of the political spectrum that they basically use the forum for cathartic ideological masturbatory fantasies and terrible hot takes on various issues that boil down to "why do you HATE HATE HATE" and "conspiratard boomer dinosaurs" and "the educated and enlightened (and experienced and i'm better than you) have a shit opinion on a complex topic that my 10 minute forum thesis dribbled out on a CG thread will win hearts and change minds".

they all need to be pushed into the sea. people who don't agree with you aren't literally hitler/stalin, and blowing the DNC in CA/nationally is going to just pile on more "reasonable gun control" until your limited to a Daisy Red Ryder and a handful of free condoms.

The cmmg .22 kit is a conversion.
They offer a collar that replaces the insert that along with a compatible barrel makes a dedicated unit.
They also offer factory.22lr riffles.
Mine started as a kit and I made it into a dedicated upper.
Combined with redimags better mag adapter (allows the use of the S&W 15/22 mags) you get a reliable setup that has last round hold open in a standard full size aluminum upper/lower setup the is compatible with almost every accessory available.
It also doesn't need the receiver extension to operate so you can have a folding brace and actually choot it when folded.
A+, cant recommend enough. I have the exact same setup and its been incredibly reliable as far as 22s go.

Also only use the SW15-22 mags, everything else is trash compared to them.

I really want a .22 hornet to use for squirrels but my reqs are seemingly impossible to fill:
  • Bolt or single shot action
  • wood/ blued steel
  • iron sights.
Its looking like i'll have to buy a used gun or buy a new one and pay for a gunsmith to mount sights. Also considering .25-20 for the same reasons, just depends which i come across that meets my needs first.

Got me an AR15. PSA stainless upper and lower parts kit was marked down to like $370. So I got that and a stripped lower. Tell me wise kiwis about what I should run for lube.

Ballistol, Slip 2000 / Slip 2000 EWP, Cherry Balmz Black rifle balm

If it rotates, oil it

Slides, grease it

Don't overdo it of if you do, wipe away the excess.

Go SOTAR autism and homebrew or just grab a bottle of break free CLP/Hoppes/whatever.

Hehe yep.

Gun lubricants have gotten a lot better in the last few decades.

Note, CLP has Teflon flakes in it so I don't use it.

Rumors that Kalashnikov USA has closed.

Honestly, forgot they existed. Washed up porn star marketing couldn't save them from PSA's market dominance.

KUSA made mediocre at best guns and had NOTHING to do with real deal Kalashnikov

Thank you for illustrating my point. That's not what Shell says. It's based off a Boeing spec for a grease that was intended to reduce the number of greases you had to stock. It's synth-base, lithium-complex and EP, and it's just being used as thread lube more or less. 64/33MS is the new stuff and is mostly just extra-super EP due to extra Moly in it.

It's a good grease and there's nothing wrong with it but most of its adherents will have you believe your gun will literally fall in half at the barrel nut if you don't use only this.

Anyone own any old Colt Commandos (or just an upper similar to one)? I bought a Commando upper on a whim because I thought having a carry handle upper, pinned FSB, and a short barrel sounds like a hoot.

Let me know about your experiences. Anything I need to look out for?

God, I wish. I got to shoot one ages ago. I never got in the guts (was prior to my turbo-autistic fascination with guns) but one thing that always stuck with me was how smooth it was. The action, the shooting, handling the thing itself felt like caressing raw silk.

Please, please buy a Chiappa Little Sharp and then tell me what you think. I've always wanted a Sharp's rifle, but I don't want one in goofy ass 423-5070 Klebold or any of the hard to feed calibers.

My first handgun experience was my dad buying some 9mm pistol and letting me shoot it when I was about 11. Was pretty rad!

Talking to him about guns today...turns out it was a Hi Point lol

i still have my late 80's Colt R0733 and shoot it more often than other ARs i own. it runs very well with an H2 buffer in auto and burst as well as single like a sewing machine. gets hot though, so i like the "skinny" single heat shield handguards and still have the Colt "fiberlite" stock with four position extension. very well balanced and easy to hit 8" plates at 200 meters with it with ordinary M193 ball.

one thing to watch for is having the right FSB on non-Colt and nu-Colt uppers since people don't realize that the FSB is different between rifles and carbines with fixed or removable carry handles, and the fixed carry handle on the CAR-15/XM177, 723, 725, 727, and 733 require the standard sight base (not the F marked base, which was introduced for the M4's removeable carry handle of the and was used on the M4, M4A1, M16A4, and Colt Commando RO933... not to be confused with the M16A2 Commando or early M4's that had a short barrel installed by request by LE but otherwise had the fixed M16A2 carry handle and also used the standard FSB...

So I've got a bit of scratch from my tax return and recently found out that e-filed ATF Form 4s are getting processed wicked fast, like 4 days to a week on average. So I think I'm going to finally pull the trigger on a sound suppressor. Going to find one of my local bang shops that are partnered with Silencer Shop so I can use one of their handy kiosks and order an Energetic Armaments Vox S .30 cal can. I like that you have the option of using self-healing silicone wipes on it for subsonic ammo, you can use a wide variety of popular mounts/muzzle devices, and I like that they designed it with a ring towards the rear of the can that has all of it's info engraved into it, like the serial number, so if you have a baffle strike or some other catastrophic damage, as long as that ring is intact the suppressor can be rebuilt and sent back to the owner.

>1,600 USD
Chirst for that much I'd buy a customized high wall from C. Sharps. made in USA too.

Edit: for 2,350 i could get a .22 hornet low wall built to my specs but i'd have to wait a year and a half . . .

So had nice range time, still waiting on ammo for my Kennedy Killing Karbine just been busy. I only have 20 rounds bores nice and what I have is surplus no idea where. Chatting with one of the old time wizards. Or the boomers who are nice to us non grey hairs... I mentioned I'm looking at new rifle and I'll ask you guys in a second but first, this guy reloads and does good target stuff, I mean he's one of the old farts at my range who sits smokes a pipe or cigar and plinks all day at 600 yards (longest we go) he knows his reloading a ton more than I do, and he's not even a brass goblin.

Well, he said if you get a new gun, use basic ball to "break it in" ok... first being polite I thanked him, second WAT. I was just packing my stuff up and I didn't want to get into it too long (I'm sure he'd be rambling about back in Korea or some shit plus lots of useful info) New guns are all test proof shot and well ready to run for all I know?

Second, PTR or DSA? Basso has some spare cash and fuck it, one of the guns I wanted for 15+ years but for some insane reason I just don't have is a FAL. I wants one, I got moneys and I will have one.

Hopefully everyons doing well otherwise.

FAL is a lot better to shoot than a G3 but the M14 is a true target rifle. great sights and despite the memes the accuarcy is no worse than the FAL/G3.

Well I want and will have all 3 soon, but my local dealer can get a DSA or PTR FAL for same price the G3 a bit more and lol no deals on m14. Frankly I enjoy them all. Sorry I forgot to mention that part.

Yes it'll be baby puke build.
