I caught a case of the "retard with no impulse control" when I found a decent price on a Ruger Mk IV Hunter. There's a Mk II target model in my house but it belongs to the wife. I'll let you all know how it is when it comes in. I definitely don't need it but I did think it'd be cool to have something to yeet small forest critters if I'm out in the wilderness and I deem that necessary.

I've never owned a .22 WMR before so I'll probably want one of those someday. I'm open to researching any suggestions you all may have. In that regard, anyone have experience with CZ's current production of rimfire rifles?
I'm normally a classic wood and steel guy but i've always been attracted to the keltec CMR30, especially when SBR'd (why they don't offer a pistol version IDK). I HATE modern polymer gun aesthetics. the first gen polymer guns from the 70s/80s had great style to them (USP etc) but now they are just goofy lines and greeblies everywhere. Keltec has retained some of that old school styling even in their newer guns.
its like a poor mans MP7. and 22mag has good performance on soft targets (IIRC 5.7 is similar to 22mag in pistol length barrels in regards to performance on flesh so its no slouch. obv 5.7 outperforms 22mag in rifle length).

I think there is a pistol version of the CMR-30 now but I can't remember what it's called. You could also just pull the stock off the CMR and it would be the same thing but a little bit longer. Anyway it's a really fun tactical bottle blaster as long as you can find 43 grain or heavier ammo for it and remember to occasionally tighten the screws in the charging handle or locktite them down at the desired tension.

there is the PMR-30 22mag pistol that takes the same mags but it is truly a pistol in that its meant for holster carry. The CP33 is similar to the CMR30 in form factor but is only available in .22lr.

Paid for a gen 3 Sub2000 today for my poor man 9mm meme rig today, picking it up Thursday after the waiting period is done. Pairing it with my g17 and a cheapo condor chest rig and backpack for a cheap backpack kit I can take to work.
I am excited. Thank you for your time.

it is a steal of 10k actually. A similar rifle from any one of the big European semi-custom shops is gonna run 20k+. A Rigby falling block starts at 60k and goes from there.

I've always wanted a European double rifle, but they're just too rich for my blood. Don't even want fancy engravings or finishes either. Just blued steel and wood in one of the safari cartridges that would be suitable for America, like. 375 H&H or .416 Rigby.

All this talk made me look up the rifle from Quigly Down Under and Damn they are pretty rifles

the slide for the dagger i'm building my old man came in today. it looks way, way better in person. the stainless finish is much less bright than their photos make you think. he's been talking about buying a piece for himself and going shooting but i'm imploring that he just holds out for a while. once i have everything together and its case i'm gonna surprise him with it next time we go to a range. i'll post a pic of the dagger once it's all built.

Just a heads up, if you were ever gonna buy a silencer now is the time. I just bought 2 and they were approved in 24 hours and 3 days. Everything online is mostly out of stock so good luck!

My previous 2 were 300 days basically.

I'm with you your dudeship, while I love and respect the craftsmanship, even if you gave me Elon money I just prefer a real nice blue job and high end wood over a hand carved gold inlaid scene of Othello on my gun. Engraving just isn't me.

I got my 416, (Ruger because I am/wasn't baller) as a gift to myself for my Masters. I had some want to own a Safari gun. Now I've read about them more and all I wish I went with 375 being a more famous and a "cat" round. For a gun I used for Elk once, and range lulz to see friends bruise shoulders.. a "cooler" more famous round beats use and stopping power for a range toy, both are 20+ a shot off the market. 3+ to hand load and I wouldn't trust mine hunting.

Back to if I had Elon Money, I'd get my dad one, Quigly is a great movie, not just as a fun western and gun movie and guy flick. It's just good. That sharps is dope. I'd say even over a legal carry GAU8 my dad would want that gun more than anything as it's his fav western. Works of art too.

Yeah Daggers are exactly what you expect, but better if that makes sense. That's really nice you're surprising him with it.

Fuck I was going to waste some money on my cars stereo but maybe I should get another can if it's that fast! ... seriously though, no idea what cal... I have 9mm, 223, 308. While I have a brand that's my "go to" the half serious idea I have is : https://moorescustomfirearms.com/alleycat-32acp-suppressor/ I could get a thread of my bob cat and... maybe some how super sin and get another 1903 barrel and thread it.

I probably won't grab another can ATM but damn super to hear they are pushing papers... but hmm same paper work for SBRs...

Some of the Merkel, Krieghoff and italian makers offer cheaper double rifles. you'll still pay at least 8-10k but your in the door. Rigby introduced a new double rifle model this year mean't for the middle class priced only at 30k. Blackpowder double rifles from the 1870s-1880s can be had as low as 2-3k providing you want to deal with blackpowder.

A double rifle is something you really have to want. they are expensive, but not so expensive to be out of line with what people spend on their hobbies.

Yep, that's why I finally decided to get one. I should hopefully have it in the next two months.

wish I went with 375
the 375 H&H is a great round. if you were only able to own one cartridge that'd be the one to pick. with the right loads it can take anything short of elephants. From roe deer to white tail, Water buffalo to american buffalo, Elk to red stag, Lion to panther, it just works.

and the recoil is not that bad if you are a normal sized man. prone shooting is the only position that I'd call punishing but a good set of shooting sticks makes prone shooting unneeded most of the time. just don't fight the recoil, let it flow through you and then re-align your sights on target if needed. you do that, and you can fire a large bore magnum all day long.

It is a wonderful round, but I'll disagree and say 7mm rem mag is because you can load it like less than your avg 308 to LOL 30 go fast. I hope I'm not coming off argumentative. 375 is flexible but if you were to go for something smaller like say fox, ground hog and "need meat" I don't think you'd have much luck lol.

I'm a borderline manlet but I'm used to recoil grew up on larger rounds and hotter ammo, but still my #1 (416) burns after a few hell using hotter surp ammo my m1 bites me up.I'm not a wimp used to a bite but I don't mind to say it hits.

If I were going to drop that kind of coin on a firearm, it would be something really special like one of those semi-auto FG42s or an Ohio Ordnance M1918A3 BAR. Like I said, they're just too rich for my blood. It would be nice to have one, but there are just so many other things I'd want before getting one.

Got some more pressing need for a woods/last ditch bear gun. Don't want to carry a rifle or shotgun over my shoulder every day, so a 10mm handgun with appropriate ammo it is.

Is a Glock G20 still the most practical 10mm woods gun out there?

Got a drawer full of glocks and glock clones not particularly inspired to drop coin on another one but larger mammals have been pressing up on us lately.

Is there a conversion kit for one of your existing handguns to 10mm? Might be a bit cheaper than a whole new gun.

Or maybe just dual wield 9s, every bear would see how badass you are and steer clear.

Edit:
The 10mm round is the clear bear cartridge of choice if you are going to use a semi-auto handgun. However, a 41 Remington Magnum or 44 Magnum revolver is often the de facto choice in bear country.
