Smith and Wesson makes external extractor 1911's too. Unlike Sig, they didn't ugly up the lines of the pistol at least. That's partially why I want to know if the Sig's 1911 slide fits on a standard frame, I might snag one for a build. Not a fan of the square look but the external extractor is a great improvement.

Their slides are not as available on the used parts market, unfortunately, and they're fairly expensive.Smith and Wesson makes external extractor 1911's too. Unlike Sig, they didn't ugly up the lines of the pistol at least.

1911 compatibility can be boiled down to the chamber ramp and caliber, otherwise it's cut and dry. You either have a similar ramp or no ramp or the gun wont cycle, but people are no longer a fan of the old GI design so the 1911 forums say you MUST have a ramp, and the breechface MUST be the right width, and the firing pin MUST be the .38/9mm because it's more efficient.E series owner here and Smith is kinda funky when it comes to 1911 slides and barrels they tend to play by their own rules and things such as sights and barrels you gotta get specifically for Smith 1911s where sometimes you can get something meant for a Kimber and get it working on a Springfield or Tisas.
I can take or leave ramped barrels on .45 1911's, but I kinda do wish my Colt Delta Elite had one so it didn't bulge cases so hard.1911 compatibility can be boiled down to the chamber ramp and caliber, otherwise it's cut and dry. Fudds fucked the tinkering side of the internet so hard.
if its for woods carry why not go full size? I carry a .45

Before S&W came out with the endurance package for their revolvers it was recommended that you send in J-frames for a factory overhaul every 3,000 rounds of +P. new smiths are rated for constant +P use now.
SIG 1911 slides are functionally modified series 80 compatible caspian slides. if you have a series 80 frame, it should fit and function without much issue unless the frame is something nonstandard (as in, it's its own secret sauce series 80 clone frame from someone else). it will not work if your frame is a series 70 clone (example, Springfield Loaded, TRP, Ruger 1911s, et c). another way is to look at the frame and what features it has and must be present for the slide you want to fit (short ejector compatibility, FP safety detent, 9mm FP compatibility for external extractor like SIG or S&W, ramped frame, or ramped barrel, et c).Sig's 1911 slide fits on a standard frame
seems about right. depending on exactly which semi-auto MG you get, the price can vary a lot, especially if parts are hard to come by or they're especially difficult to work with. some are just flat out expensive from a combination of all of the above to the point where you may as well get a transferable.my buddy in California sent this thing said it was going for 16k, not full auto, but dam

Thankfully you can drop that out when attaching to a Series 70 frame, since the extractor is also held in place by the firing pin retaining plate. Barring any proprietary measurements as you said.the firing pin safety plunger and spring interaction
That AK above it is so damn sad...my buddy in California sent this thing said it was going for 16k, not full auto, but dam
I’m super late to replying to this post but this can’t be overstated enough. My apprentice said he has a S&W XD45 and an AR but he was thinking about getting an AK. I told him first of all that he’s going to be spending a couple paychecks of his money since he’s on apprentice wages.Make sure to budget heavily for ammo and training, at least the value of the rifle itself
a belt limiter is added to the feed mechanism to prevent using longer belts without disassembling the action in some way (disassembly in this case is opening the top cover, which counts, since the OO M240's are closed bolt and the top cover is modified in the state to push the bolt out of battery via a cam welded to one side, preventing firing when the top cover is open. this then meets the definition of a "fixed 10 round magazine" and the current version of the CA assault weapon law(s), otherwise it's like any other semi-auto centerfire rifle.Surprised that its for sale in California of all places, how the blue fuck is that legal when the AK above it has to look like... well like it does.
I've never been happier to not live in CA.a belt limiter is added to the feed mechanism to prevent using longer belts without disassembling the action in some way (disassembly in this case is opening the top cover, which counts, since the OO M240's are closed bolt and the top cover is modified in the state to push the bolt out of battery via a cam welded to one side, preventing firing when the top cover is open. this then meets the definition of a "fixed 10 round magazine" and the current version of the CA assault weapon law(s), otherwise it's like any other semi-auto centerfire rifle.
another option i've seen done (and there's only a few of these in the state) is literally removing and welding up the gas system, turning it into a single shot, self-ejecting rifle (unless you replace the barrel and gas piston assembly). single shot center-fire rifles that otherwise meet CA's overall length restriction (30 inches, not the federal 26 inches), is perfectly legal here, same as any other manual action rifle.
i'm not sure if i count as an "enthusiast" compared to some other people, but the various exemptions and carve outs help dull the pain and also create incredible new headaches constantly. maybe this is what it's like to chew 5 gum or bossmanjack with your livelihood.I have no clue how an enthusiast of either could stand to live there.
My time in CA was before the guns.I've never been happier to not live in CA.
They hate my two favorite things: Guns and Cars.
