…No - the M9A3 was in the latest weapons trials in that configuration minus being optic ready and lost to the P320 for several retarded reasons. Beretta decided to not let perfectly good tooling go to waste (just like Glock with the 19X) and released them to the civilian market.
Since you mentioned it was was the reason for the 19X? US military puts out a an open request for a universal service pistol and Glock says "We have the perfect thing! it's the Glock 19 but holds 2 more! You heard me right, a whole 2 more rounds of 9x19 FMJ!" I guess it never met OAL standards or something for the contract. I have never been US services brass and I will never be US service Brass so I try not to overthink it.
You guys ever seen the tards who were cutting the grips short off perfectly good full sized 20/17/22/34's for EDC purposes? Idea was that extra inch of muzzle energy and the grip isn't hanging outside your jacket. cringe.
