Since you mentioned it was was the reason for the 19X? US military puts out a an open request for a universal service pistol and Glock says "We have the perfect thing! it's the Glock 19 but holds 2 more! You heard me right, a whole 2 more rounds of 9x19 FMJ!" I guess it never met OAL standards or something for the contract. I have never been US services brass and I will never be US service Brass so I try not to overthink it.

You guys ever seen the tards who were cutting the grips short off perfectly good full sized 20/17/22/34's for EDC purposes? Idea was that extra inch of muzzle energy and the grip isn't hanging outside your jacket. cringe.

The military had a minimum round capacity to qualify , the 19 slide length allows it to “clear leather” faster than a 17.

Yeah, the butcher jobs were cringe.

I figured it was something like that. "Holster to prone in .13 seconds faster, Gentlemen we are official reducing that OAL spec before releasing the open contract tech data packages"

In the past gun prototypes were submitted outside the requested specs and put through trials. IE the rifle must weight less than 7.72 lbs and someone submits a 8.5lb rifle they still consider it. If you think about it they didn't pay the engineers, maybe they sent them free ammo but, years/materials/engineering came out of Glock/Sig's pocket, US armed forces just paid for the ammo.


EDIT: Hey, wouldn't it be funny the next Gov open contract comes up and you declare yourself "American Firearms Co LLC" and you officially enter into it, they then send you a case of 10,000 rounds of military grade ammo for R&D to meet their contract and then you just say you couldn't produce a prototype in time? I'm sure that's some kind of fraud but didn't Accuracy international do something really similar like 40 years ago? 3 guys in a shed making high end bolt guns managed to score a Gov contract? Am I recalling this right?

You know, I'm something of a firearms company myself.....:smug:
Need me a pallet of M993 and a MK13 for "material testing".

As for AI, I believe they had the design and the guns, but no factory to produce them in. The bongs ended up really liking the L96 wanted them, and then the AI guys had to scramble and find a place to make them besides of course, a shed. I think for a lil while they were kinda shit because the factory they found was casting the receivers and they were blowing up or something, and I think there was some money stealing as well. These days they some super kickass guns by the looks of things.

the Romeo 3 (not 03, for clarity) is a bit too much plastic for duty use imho. the optic is good, the mount is meh and too much torque will prevent proper locking (can't overcome the cam), so needs locktite to stay in position. if you aren't using the QD mount, the plastic battery tray's tab is very thin and easy to snap off. doesn't hurt the optic but you'll end up needing a tool or long finger nail to get the tray out and it fits quite snug. if the tray was stamped aluminum and the mount used a progressive cam instead of a tension cam it would be a better product overall.

federal agency handguns with optics coming my way use either the ACRO, Noblex, or RMR, with a couple with an SRO.

I used to cringe at it even before I knew shit, but man
Aftermarket slide, all the innards were swapped, threaded KKM(because of course) barrel that doesn't match the slide and why the fuck are the mags painted like that

Sig made the Fuse because they saw how bad of a reputation the P320 has so they decided to make a full size pistol based on an existing platform that doesn't have issues. I'd rather carry a fuse over a 320. I'd never carry a 320.

actually it's a factory slide, for the first couple runs of the RTF2 frame, but dropped soon after. it was only available on some of the more common models (17, 19, 22, et c) and i guess is considered rare now. personally, in my mind a rare Glock is the NWO package or the Glock 25 and 28 (in the US), but maybe that's just me.

I'm not sure you can get the slides anymore. You can find a halfbaked page for them on Unity's site through search engines, but no mentions on the navigable site. You can only buy the plates. I even checked out the smiths they link on the unused page who are authorized to cut your slide. One says he no longer does machining work and the other other advertises grip work.

Now someone correct me here but "Lee harvey Mcsoyfgaggot" had an older DPMS which was never known to be top quality AR of the AR manufacturers. He also had a zero magnification red dot. He did not have an AR designed for high accuracy and I'd wager he was shooting 55 grain walmart ammo or something, lethal as any 5.56 but not a heavier load for accuracy like a 69 grain black hills match grade or hand loaded target round. He was 130 yards lying prone which is the position generally thought of to have the best control of a long-arm but he was roughly 90 degrees to the right hand side of President Trump so add that into factor.

The AP has released photos of an AR with a folding bipod and what I assume to be at least 10x scope. I Don't think they got that right. Hell they still run the story Sam Hyde was involved every time.

I have a stainless 20" with an obnoxiously overpowered 10-32x50 with some good 69 grain factory loads, I took a family member to the range, a family member who doesn't even own guns. High wind that day and he can ring the 12" pie plate just fine at 100 yards for being an inexperienced shooter.

Too many factors at play here to say, we're not talking "apples and oranges" we're talking apples and steak. Back in the day lot of people tried to recreate lee Harvey Oswald's Delay Plaza scenario FBI even set a moving target to simulate the Lincoln Kennedy was riding in and used scissor lift to recreate the downward angle.

On its own a 140 yard shot on a human sized target from prone isn’t very difficult….on the range with no stress. I would imagine his equipment was capable of 4moa, or a 6” cone of fire at that distance, even with subpar rifle and ammo.

The shooter was definitely dealing with a huge adrenaline dump. Also was the rifle properly zeroed? Did he know his hold at that distance. Was it windy enough he would have to account for that?

I think he just got into position and saw the sight dancing around the target and just sprayed and prayed.
 
If he had aimed for the torso we'd likely be talking about an assassination, not an attempt. The wannabe president slayer was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. His equipment was not part of the problem. In other words...

He might have been aiming torso, but had a 25 yard zero, and all his rounds went high. Skill was part of it, but I’m also not gonna assume the rifle was zeroed properly.
