Whats some of the Kiwis favorite milsurp guns? I recently got a Bulgarian Makarov and would love to get my hands on a swiss k31
You already know I fuck the Jericho daily. The BUL, too. Though technically, I think it was only police use and not military.
But my favorite milsurp I ain't got is probably one of the various italian and german handguns from the 30s-60s. They all just fuckin look So sleek, hard to pick a favorite. I have been looking at Maks, though. They're fun little buttplug looking things, look like they'd be smooth as butter.

hows the kick on it I always heard the soviets switched over due to the cartridge being overpowered and required more practice to handle
Very manageable with a little practice. It's a zippy little round but not really heavy recoiling. Can make accurate hits on a man-sized target at 100 yards. And PPU still makes JHP loads for it, so you're not limited to just ball ammo.

The Mordor of miserable, narcissistic boomers.
They were almost cool when they were SFW /k, but of course, shit fell off a cliff once Brownells bought them.

Their EE and technical resources are legit, but GD sucks and is gay, you can't even call a boomer a faggot without catching a ban.

I kinda want one of those doublestack CZ Makarov's (not sure of the number off the top of my head, I think they make them in .380, too).

too bad the yugo ones are shit and the serbian ones cost like $500 and aren't worth it. the appeal of the gun is that it's the bare minimum made by serbs and they really like testing how low they can go

I'll echo 11.5" being the best short AR barrel length. The velocity bump you get going from 10.3"/10.5" to 11.5" is good, and internal parts wear is much slower. It also doesn't require a big gas port to ensure reliability. CRANE spec gas port for 10.3" is .070, but most companies use a much larger one to ensure reliability with trash ammo. My Geissele Super Duty 11.5" has a .068 gas port and it's actually soft shooting for a shortie. Most good 11.5" barrels out there use a .069 gas port (I think Geissele actually switched to this too), which is still be nicer than a 10.3"/10.5" with a .070+ port due to the extra dwell time. 11.5" usually is less prone to malfunctions than 10.3"/10.5".

I think 12.5" is a cool barrel length too, but it's kind of a different conversation. It can be finicky to get running well both unsuppressed and suppressed. A lot of 12.5" carbine length barrels are quite over gassed. There are some interesting options out there with gas lengths between carbine and mid-length (Black River Tactical being the best one), as well as mid-length options (Sionics being the best one). But those builds require more forethought than a basic 11.5" carbine barrel.

A Makarov made by Ernst Thaelmann for the DDR in '52 is the most favorite pistol I own; although the '51 Polish TT-33 is a close runner-up, but only because it was the first handgun I bought. The Makarov also has the best bluing & build quality I've ever seen on any combloc milsurp, easily on par with the Swiss; pictures just don't do it justice.

As for milsurp rifles I've had many, and some I don't own anymore (I do miss the SVT), but a Navy Arms-imported early Norinco SKS is what I consistently reach for & keep handy. Even though it's sans bayonet & lug (removed by Navy Arms), it helps that I managed to find a 20rd Promag which actually functions reliably & can be loaded with stripper clips. But the best part? I traded a refinished Mosin Nagant M38 carbine for it, which in turn I got for a pair of off-the-books marine binos; so it essentially cost me nothing. That'll never happen again lol.

Oh dear God, you're not going to build one of those short barrel with a muzzle brake monstrosities are you?
First off so I can reply to the one guy who said I doxed myself.....laff. Some people here know my general area from threads long dead after I've accidentally witnessed lolcows in person, when it comes to discussing firearms here, I do not mind giving what legislation currently affects me, including information I gave last week regarding my NYC application.

Anyway, yes I want a monstrosity. I already have a 16" .308 with the procomp brake. My eventual purpose is to finish setting up a trust so I can store NFA items elsewhere, including a shorty that can take a QD suppressor.

Don't care what people say - I'm probably gonna buy one.

It's close enough what I wished HK had been selling from the get go.
Flexing on us broke bitches, I see.
I hope nobody here wanted a Beretta 1301 anytime soon because the ATF just decided they aren't sporting enough(ETA: Because they hold two too many rounds).

Fucking gay. Some of you all managed to get one by now, right?
I'm not gud yet, but with God as my witness, I am going to git gud.
Commit and train consistently. That's all there is to it. Don't just shoot; have a plan for live fire. Otherwise you're wasting money. Use drills as diagnostic tools. Don't forget to write stuff down so you can compare later to gauge progress. You got this.

Have you shot a Scorpion? I found the trigger decidedly unimpressive and the ergonomics of the whole gun just felt a bit off
Is it not appalling how fucking awful their stock triggers are? CZ Custom parts make them decent but fucking hell are they dog shit out of the box.
I just wish M855A1 wasn't unobtanium.
It's great against lighter barricades and I bet it does fine against commonly encountered body armor. I heard it's damn hard on barrels, but everything costs something.
