I carry an extra mag for my EDC, mostly as a hedge against the possibility of having an issue with the mag in the gun. I always tell people carrying an extra mag isn't necessary though. The idea that I'll fire more than 16 rounds is extremely unlikely, but I understand why people who live in places where pieces of shit attack in packs would want to carry an extra mag. They usually scatter when rounds start coming their way, but I wouldn't want to simply bet it on.
 
Speaking of the HK P7, there's a company who is gearing up to start manufacturing them again. I believe they bought the IP rights from HK. They'll be doing classic ones, but they will also be offering more modern options such as light rails and optics mounting. Personally, I'd just want a basic one in either nickel or chrome for when I want something more compact than my 1911 or Staccato. I believe they'll be around $1300 IIRC.
 
If I'm away from home and the solar flare hits or nukes fall or another ODing jogger gets perforated I want a second mag.

I really like the HSGI elastic magazine pouches. The plastic clip in the rear can be adjusted for various widths, such as molle webbing and 1.5inch carry belts.

Elastic too to accept lights, Leathermans, double stack mags and single stack. Yet has enough structure for making reindexing easy.

Only in vertical orientation.

I use a belt mount hsgi taco everyday to carry a knife.
The walls of it are polymer and can be a little pokey if you are carrying a few extra pounds on you but it's easy enough to shift around.
I like it because it accommodates just about any knife even if they don't have a pocket clip and saves wear and tear on my pants.
Kind of a pain to adjust tension wise but once you get it set you can pretty much forgot it.
 
In other "nifty HK things" I had a brainwave and put my P30 upper onto my P2000 lower.

It ran really well at the range tonight, so its probably going to stay like that until I decide to carry something else.

It's good if you want a budget .357. I've put a few hundred .38 rounds and 50 .357's through mine with no issues. My only complaint is the front sight visibility.

You can also conceal it well in your pickle suit. They'll never know you're packing.

I'd kill for a new p7 the geek in me wants one in 45 (they only made 6 iirc). Mrs basso isn't mad the new gun buy. She never minds. I can afford it and I have the room (lol no I don't) she doesn't bother me about the mil surp.

I don't ask why it looks like someone dropped a fucking Marshalls AND Burlington coat factory on the floor in our bedroom. It's about balance friends. Found some cheap 303 online! That's a rare bird anymore.

Speaking of SHOT, Glock and Aimpoint are collaborating on what might be the Acro P3, It's really ugly but will probably direct mount to the slide. Here are some images from a patent site, announcement is the 7th I think.

They bought the license/design/ and left over parts from H&K to build these. as they run out of H&K parts they will be using more of their own. base price is 2,600. once you start adding options like slide serrations or optics cuts etc will cost you 4,000 at least.

they have some pre built P7's on new old stock frames for 2,400. If they market towards the upper middle class and wealthy they probably have a future. if they try to cater to the lower middle class and poor they will fail.

I already simped for the dream of a 45 one, but HK MADE 40s ffs and these guys don't. (I know most of the regulars are already eye rolling because it's coming from me)

Since I had to say it, it's a VERY stout system, I reload so I know apples to oranges I've put some spicy ass stuff through my dad's it's a heavy pistol as well. It wouldn't be too much work to alter it just to fit the 10 on a 40 frame, frankly I don't see why not. No I don't want to be dis owned and try this on pops. But I think the pistol it self would be fine as a 10mm.

I was browsing /k/ (it's nothing but bots anymore) and found the most cursed AR I think I've ever seen. I was actually impressed.
