S&W Model 60 or Ruger SP101, both available in short barrels and both very good options - nobody will say you're undergunned with either option. Colt's Cobra is nice but i dislike alloy frames in magnum calibers. a Rossi M877 is a good budget option as it's made on S&W tooling for the model 60 with some minor changes to parts combined with cheaper labor to bring the overall cost down. still a solid revolver and a step up from later offerings after Taurus bought Rossi. Armscor imports the Alfa-Projekt AL3.1 and sells it under the Rock Island Armory brand as a pretty decent revolver from the Czech Republic.
I am very found of my Ruger SP101 it's a solid wheel gun

I don't think it's open carry but if it's not in my pocket I like a OWB holster (usually with a thumb snap) under a long shirt or jacket/vest.
I'd call that concealed. The gun's covered, unless it's short enough to ride up if you reach for a tall shelf or something, I guess. When I think of open carry, I think of the jackasses in my area that stop just short of kicking the door in screaming, "I have a gun!"
The P365 is nice to shoot for it's size in 9mm and is awesome to shoot in .380
Had a bit of an odyssey with a woman recently trying to find her a carry gun. I'm not, like, some super operator or anything, but I have been pulling triggers for the better part of thirty years, so I at least know enough to not just hand her a .38 Airweight and call it good. She learned on my P95, which she shoots pretty well. Better than I do, if I'm having a bad day when she's having a good one. Her one complaint is that it's too big for her hands, so we went to a range, paid far, far too much money renting basically everything they had Glock 19 sized and smaller. She landed on a P365 XMACRO, or however they stylize it, after shooting basically every variant of the P365 and Hellcat lines. I also ran about half a mag through each, just out of curiosity. I do find both the P365 and the Hellcat deceptively well-behaved for how small they are, but the jump in comfort from the base P365 to the Chungus Edition™, and from the base Hellcat to whatever the fuck Springfield calls the bigger one of those, is absolutely worth the extra mass.

As an aside, she hated every variant of the Hellcat she touched. She described the ergonomics as like "trying to shoot a fucking Snickers bar."

Is it a good idea to buy an el cheapo ($100-$150) pistol to qualify for your CCW knowing that your won't carry that one. Or should I just save up for the pistol I want and qualify for that? Mind you whatever gun I carry I will of course train and practice with it. But this is so I can just get my CCW.

Is blurring your serial number on your gun when you post a pic a meme or is there actually any way of fucking with someone by having the serial number
ive had to run numbers on guns reported stolen via facebook photos and usually it's a visit to confirm it isn't stolen, a call or visit to a dealer to see if there was any shenanigans with the last documented transfer, and if the whole thing is a waste of time or is very obviously some bs, the reporter can be prosecuted (and yes, this has happened multiple times, and when it happens to get through the DA, it is usually plead down to a misdemeanor).

Google indexes numbers visible in images so if you post your Serial on multiple sites people could connect your accounts together.

Picked up a wasr 10 with some magpul furniture on it for about $800. Looked pretty good for a used rifle. Will be a little long term project.
Not a bad price considering I paid $700 for one before covid. Get a good front sight tool, get a spare front sight post (mine snapped, maybe bad luck). I recommend KNS. They have different diameters for your needs. They're like 8-10 dollars. Worth having if yours breaks one of the legs off. It sucks.

The number at the end of your serial will designate which year it was made. Xxx-19 for 2019 for example

replace the shepherds hook for a real plate, the MD BD2 muzzle device is pretty nice if you want to replace a slant brake. Reduces muzzle flash and rise. AK muzzle devices are easy. No timing or crush washers required just screw on. The front sight tool will likely wear some of the parkerization away. Keep it oiled on the outside too. Bulgarian mags work well in my experience. Avoid Korean.

Went to Bangkok the other day and headed to the range with a client and his wife just for fun. His dumb harpie of a wife had a negligent discharge with the M9 and the ricochet nearly got me. Had issues with sleeping the past few days. Y'all ever had any near-death experiences with guns and coping mechanisms?

Damn, nothing like that. Mostly knowing something bad is going to happen and leaving. IE a bunch of Indians with their women shooting videos and not teaching the women how to shoot properly, weird people with guns that clearly weren't theirs, an instructor and a student tussling with a loaded cocked hammer gun because the student didn't know how to decock it and was an uppity old man.

If I search something like 'Mauser' in my photos roll it'll find photos of my gun. Because of the stamped Mauser name on it. It's getting very good at stuff like that

That guy was inches away from death. Also judging by how little spatial awareness Pajeets are someday they'll friendly fuck each other at the range smh.

They were also speaking Hindi. English like with aviation needs to be standard at ranges. I'm glad I can avoid state gamelands now. Unless I want to shoot far.

Just buy an inexpensive .22 that you will continue to shoot and enjoy afterwards, you can qualify with any gun so use one that's easy. I qualified for my CCW with a Sig Mosquito (now known as the GSG Firefly) that I spent like $300 on and it's still a blast to shoot.

A lot of CCW courses also have rental or loaner guns for you to qual with which are all .22s.

I agree, a TX22 is a good cheap 22. I would suggest grabbing a lakeline barrel for it immediately though. The factory barrels can be spotty. It'll work in an M&P 1.0 Safariland holster with the hood. Good for classes. And it has the same ergos as a G19 sized 9mm so its good for training on the cheap. It's not a gun you'd never use again and it's reliable.

The supply chain shifted from Russia to Turkey and more NATO friendly Slav countries but they just can’t give us 40 cpr Tula boxes. *sigh*

Never thought I’d see a day where m855 is cheaper than x39.
That is truly sad. But hey, at least the new ammo runs clean. That's my copium.
Open carry is one of those things I support on principle, but would never actually do unless I'm out innawoods.
Agreed. I think you should have the right, it's just dumb unless you're doing it with a purpose (hunting, stuff like that). I like it though because liberals seethe.
@WelperHelper99
As for USA Daewoo.... I HAVE ZERO Faith that even the basic K2 clone will be $1200 MSRP. I'm guessing $1500 easily and the modern Mlok and PIC rail version is $2000 easy.

They are going to extract as much cash from the Americans as they possibly can
Oh I believe it. But one can dream.

On a side note got around to reading my Guns and Ammo magazine article on the Ruger RMX. I want one for real now. I don't care how long I have to save. The Ruger RMX is based. And apparently it's going to be the first in a collaboration with Magpul. This is the G19 clone. Here's hoping they make a full sized version in different calibers if all goes well. Personally I'd like to contribute to all going well. Finally have a 9mm, and a good one at that.
