Yeah they should read the CMP manual. 180gr or lower is fine. The oprod spring needs to be in spec and the rifle needs grease not just oil. The idea that a Garand cannot handle any off the shelf ammo is somewhat fudd lore. And with schuster seeming to not be making adjustable plugs anymore (death in the family I've heard. They've been OOS for ages) people are probably going to have to just learn that it's fine to not just shoot m2 ball. Most people aren't high round counting their M1 anyway.

Military surplus is such a dead market. You might as well just go on gunbroker and try to win a bidding war because anyone savvy enough to use the internet is going to just look up what they can charge you for it anyway. Alternatively, you can find a local shooting club and see if they have a board. You can put up a in search of poster. And if you happen to want to Garand in 308 instead of 30-06, the CMP makes those

When every firearm is almost identical you had better do something. "This company made me laugh on the social medias so that solidifys my desire to purchase their striker fired polymer handgun over that other company" can be very real

that's why I've moved on to vintage and obscure sporting rifles and guns. you can get some absurdly high quality stuff for pennies on the dollar because its "out of fashion" literal hand made rifles/shotguns for way way less than what they were when new accounting for inflation.

there is so much variation in them too. from obscure German and British provincial shops mostly with names like Miller & Val. Griess, Eduard & Franz Kettner, W. Collath, Lancaster, Charles Boswell, Mortimer, Darne, the list goes on.

I'd like to pick up a good condition Darne. so cool. so weird. the standard grades go for about 1,000 usually. they are not common but they are not that rare either.

I'm planning on doing that too, I've already picked up some dead-end accessories that will never be made again and I've got my eye on one or two sporting rifles that are legitimately great and priced under a thousand.

Since you've mentioned M1 Garand ammo, I'll share a loading recipe. 47 grains of Viht N135 pushing any old 150gr bullet is extremely soft on the Garand's action, to the point where I had to re-install my factory gas plug because it didn't want to cycle with a ported gas plug installed. That stuff is some of the best Garand powder out there and it's pretty cheap.

on the rifle end if been eyeing up some Ross Rifle sporters. high quality, beautiful wood typically. only problem is going to be brass. .280 Ross (or .280 rimless nitro express in the UK) has not been made in quite a while but was one of the first cartridges to break the 3,000FPS barrier and fairly flat shooting out to 1,000 yards for the time (1907).

still debating if i want another cartridge that i'll have to make brass for. I'm already invested into 9.3x57, which is fairly easy to make as far as out-of-production cartridges go. there are a fair few Mauser M.98 sporters out there in the cartridge which are tempting. every thinks about Mauser's military rifles but their sporting m.98's are truly a sublime rifle then and now.

Mauser is also supplying the London best gunmakers (Purdey, H&H, Westley-Richards and Rigby) with 98 actions just like the golden age of bespoke gunmaking again.
 
I feel like I'm more or less documenting my own retardation; but also see it as documentation/science for anyone who may find themselves asking questions.

So I got the DAKA Angle pieces, and the 45-degrees pieces are an excellent fit for the factory 249 box magazines. The 30-degree piece may have a use, but not for this.

While I'd prefer to have the 200 round box magazines, gonna get some of the aftermarket ones that only hold 100 rounds and see if I can get a better arrangement. There's also that MagPull even suggests you can remove one section if needed for a better fit and will say that does fit the box magazines better.

Only other solution would be a bigger case or a second support case; can't get a bigger case and the whole point of this was trying to have an all-in-one transport. But this is also just me being a retard, as not everyone is gonna run out get a neutered 249.

screen quality in bright sunlight, relatively light weight, removable battery preferable since recharging during matches can be annoying or if you do long strings of fire or forget to do it the night before a match, i personally like the ones that have memory to separate strings of splits as separate rounds vs the ones that just time from shot to shot or require an app for basic functions. i have an old KST1000 which is probably too expensive for non competitive shooters, but the Pocket Pro is super common and very useful for most situations that aren't needing drop testing or app connectivity.
 
What screw should I use for securing an acog mount to a carry handle?

Trying to mount a PA SLX Prism to my 635.
