Would anyone recommend anything Cannick for the poor list?
I've seen jamming issues, but I see them all around in recommend lists.
No, just get a CZ P-10C for like $399-350 optics ready. Even seen them for less without a OR cut. Amazing trigger and mags aren't much like $25. I've seen canik barrels wear out fast as well. Whatever you get find the sku and search it on gun.deals and also look for police trade ins. It's also worth checking Reddits gun deals sub

Any sub-$500 double stack/highcap 45 ACP? I know I've seen them, but I'm drawing a blank.
.
Also, don't really know shit about optics, low cost recommends would be helpful.
Probably best to look for a Glock 21 police trade in for .45. seen them for just over $320 in the last 6 months. Search around . I'm just getting into 45acp so I'm sure others have better advice on that. Tisas makes good cheap 1911s. Forged steel and no MIM parts. First handgun i ever shot was a double stack para ordnance .45. I would definitely try 9mm vs 45 before committing. It's not always about the recoil, 45 grips are typically larger so your hands may mesh better with one than the other.

Speaking of AR triggers, what do you all like for aftermarket stuff? For cassette-type triggers I'm a big fan of TriggerTech stuff. For traditional types my favorite so far is the Geissele SSP.
Feels a bit late, but you asked.

The ALG ACT, BCM PNT and SoLGW Liberty triggers are great if you want basically a cleaned-up milspec trigger at a decent price and I've had no issues with any of them. I also quite like the HiperFire Enhanced Duty triggers (specifically the DMR variant, but they seem to be the same aside from the profile of the trigger bow) for the same use case but leaning a bit more towards a lighter pull.

Others in my current inventory are a couple of Rise Armament RA-140s and a bunch of CMC 3.5# triggers - I like them (especially the CMCs) well enough, but I don't know how well they'd play with really hard primers - they seem to have no issues with the gobs of Wolf Gold I've been beating on with them though.

I will be installing a TriggerTech 3.5# single-stage "Duty" trigger in this new rifle (PA was selling them for $90) - if it's crap, I'll know soon enough, I suppose.

EDIT: If anyone is looking for a spare BCG to keep in the parts box, AIM Surplus is selling White Label Armory BCGs for $70 right now.

Out of curiosity, how much does a 16ga slamfire-capable Ithaca 37 go for? I inherited this one from my grandfather, not planning on selling it but I'd like to know if it's worth maybe cleaning it up. It's in decent shape for the most part, the furniture is rather "dull" though.

Last time I looked at Ithacas, hunting models seemed to go for $500-$700 regardless of gauge. If the pic is yours I don't think its in any dire need of restoration (personally I find guns with a bit of wear more appealing, shows it has some story). I don't know what you mean by exactly when you say "clean it up", however if you are looking to have it restored be careful to make sure whoever you send it to has a good rep, and expect it to cost a shitton.
Related, a guy who owns a restoration company talks about how expensive it is to restore firearms.

In the experience of you both, does it matter if one uses DI or external piston systems? Do the frequency of maintenance and cleaning schedules make any notable differences?
i currently have a geissele super select-fire in an M4 with an old SureFire FA556SA and other than normal removal and cleaning every few thousand rounds with a tooth brush, it works fine. same experience as the typical M16 trigger group.

in an LR300, i use a CMC trigger and when suppressed with an old KAC QDSS-NT4 it also doesn't have any issues if cleaned every few thousand rounds.

other guns i use with a suppressor i don't use trigger packs with (G36K, Micro UZI, various pistols, et c).

Has anyone been to Springfield Armory National Historic Site? I may be in that area in the future and would love to stop by. Any advice to best optimize time spent? I guess the NPS estimate is 45 minutes to go through it so not terribly long. I'm excited
I've been there and it's really cool if you like firearms history. It's not that big, it's just a single floor of the building itself, but there's plenty of stuff on display. One half is split into a manufacturing section, detailing how they made the guns there, while the other side hosts all the firearm displays. There's also a little theater with a short film of the armory's history in there as well.
The rest of the factory has been turned into a campus for a community college I believe, so It might be a little confusing trying to find the entrance. I did get a little lost trying to get in.
Realistically I'd say you could get in and out in about 30 minutes if you just wanna oogle their collection and leave but half the experience (for me) was reading the history of all the stuff on display. If you don't wanna rush through it I'd personally budget an hour but you could probably get through it easy in less than that, particularly if you skip the area about manufacturing.

Depends on how "in the area" is defined, but if you have the time and gas to burn there's a place in central mass called the American Heritage Museum. More focused on military vehicles than small arms but their displays are fucking sick and well worth the visit. I think the chieftain did a video on the Abrams on display there. Depends on if it's close to you but if it is I'd recommend you check it out. Its really cool.

Oh and stay safe in Springfield. The campus the museum's in is fine but the rest of the city is Nog central.

KVKK didnt have that because its a fixed barrel machine gun that fires 1000 rounds per minute of 7.62x39 AND IS IN ALL OTHER REGARDS SHIT!
Jams on every third shot when using woodtip blank ammunition that has gotten "moist" by being exposed to air after a rain, takes two days for the issues to come.
KVKK has a worse reputation than it deserves. Don't get me wrong, it's not a good light machine-gun. But it has a horrible reputation for reliability, when in fact 99% of the problems are caused by:
- incorrect way of belting the ammunition
- shooting blanks with the incorrect blank-firing adapter (KVKK has it's own BFA, the RK BFA does not produce enough backpressure for reliable cycling).

When it's run right (and with actual ammunition), it's a perfectly reliable gun. Still horrible as far as LMGs go, but reliable.

Sweet I'll see about that too. Thanks. Good to know about Springfield itself
