... they separately sent an invite to online "information courses" on servicing and identification user modifications to the P320 that might make it unsafe and there's a bulleted list to go over in case agencies or departments have specific questions.
Sounds like they're still going to try pushing fault onto customers, one way or another. Can you get that list of modifications?

Same reason why we opt'd for the M14 in 7.62x51 instead of adopting the FAL in .280 britbong. Someones hands got greased good.
Yeah but the M14 was "supposed" to come from upgrading M1 Garands which apparently was impossible (until the Italians did just that! Beretta how do you do it?) so they ended up making an entirely new gun from start to finish instead of upgrading old guns. The cost savings incentive for that makes sense. Total replacement of our pistols? Well at least Sig was a bit cheaper.
How do you like the P226? I was just thinking about how the SEALS used that thing and that it actually was considered a good gun.
Safariland holsters, RMR optics, holosun optics, aftermarket sights, it's pretty exhaustive.
Is there anything kosher the gun won't kill you for?

I like it. It's over a decade old now, so it was made before Sig went full 90's Colt and said "we don't care about civvie sales. We only care about the military contracts now.", and before they started subcontracting poo-in-the-loos to make small parts. Its been reliable and accurate. But it's probably the only Sig product I'll ever own now with all the BS going on.

I don't think this is as much of a smoking gun but "Eliminated" as part of classification for a perceived problem is ridiculous.

EDIT: This guy doesn't seem to understand the purpose of the "Failure Modes" chart. A pistol gets bumped, worst case scenario it goes off, a pistol will occasionally get dropped/bumped in individual use and frequently get in overall fleet use, here's how we prevent failure, we've determined the failure to be improbable, etc. It's not an admission that it will occasionally shoot the user. This is a CYA form.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here and assume that they genuinely have no idea why or how this is happening, and that exacerbates the problem of this Rube Goldberg mechanism it's got. They don't have a single guy that could chime in and say, for example, "Oh yeah, adjusting the optic screw too tightly can put pressure on the striker" they just have PR and marketing and publications to say that it's user error. Lots of user error caught on camera with sound.
The more people who jump on the bandwagon putting woodscrews and tongue depressors and poke at sears for the camera just muddies the water that much more. I guess Sig deserves it since they're hoping everyone ignores the proactive discharges? I dunno.

Glock got big by undercutting everyone, too. Granted, they had to undercut a lot less drastically than Sig did since the gap for switching from metal framed hammer fired guns to polymer striker fired ones is a lot bigger than striker fired to striker fired. As it turns out, the only way Sig was able to undercut the competition was to outsource critical MIM parts to anyone willing to churn them out and then throwing them into an already questionable design.
what they did a lot of the time was buy a departments old guns from them and replace them with Glocks and then make their money back by selling the old guns on the market.

The M14 performed better in the trials than the FAL in almost all measured areas.

Apparently ICE went back to the 320, so history is a bit undecided at the moment.

That's sad to hear. When my old man retired from ICE in the early 2000s they were switching over to HK USP-Cs and Sig P229s. My dad was the last ICE agent in his office still carrying a Beretta 96D Brigadier. I'd much rather be issued the HK over the Beretta or Sig, but I am admittedly an HK fanboi.

Tl;dw- People unfamiliar with how guns actually work are afraid of the 320, but Sig has the cheese touch now because of their mishandling of the optics.

.357 is actually good, no I won't elaborate because you didn't appreciate it.
.357 Sig > .40 S&W for a variety of reasons.

I also will not elaborate.

Nigga I KNOW how guns work and I'M AFRAID of a loaded P320, lmao.

Mostly because of all the safety parts that DON'T.

I wonder if Sig USA has big enough pockets to defend themselves from Safariland when they inevitably sue for being blamed for the P320 discharges?
Safariland has been the provider of holsters for many government agencies, and its utter insanity to look at their Level III holster, which had a gun inside it, and go "the holster did it". How the fuck would that even work? All the guy did was detach the QLS. That means that the gun was still in a holster that had 3 safety measures. A holster has had no reported problems with any other gun. I have a cheapy Safariland for my Glock 19 and I never worry about it going off. But I sold my M18 as soon as possible, and only had it because I needed to train on the Army's platform. SIG needs to be destroyed at this point, they're not just a bribing, conniving company they're now actively malicious. Bring Swissarms to America so I can get a SG 550, and have them run Kriss so I can get a Sphinx. Ron Cohen can fuck off, thank you.

It theoretically cannot fail, therefore it has never failed. Despite all of the footage showing the gun going off without input.

"Why don't people know how it's happening/Why can't it be replicated?"
The fire control group, the drivetrain if you will, is wholly unlike anything on the market. It's alien. Current diagnostics rely on systems similar to the old Browning designs or much simpler firing pin blocks.
The gun is not translucent. Nobody can see through all the parts to witness that everything fits together perfectly or not, people have shown pictures of inconsistent wear patterns and broken springs and chipped/rolled-over edges though so clearly something is wrong.
Armorers trained to work on the P320 don't know how it fails so they can't diagnose it. Everyone is learning about the gun in real time because it just got shat into existence 11 years ago to little or no fanfare and spread into every holster like fucking dandelion seeds.

This man is gay.

"We don't know what's wrong with it, therefore its ok"
