I'm not an AK enjoyer, but I've seen a few videos by M26 Lemon Grenade on YT where he discussed the various problems that PSA AKs have. I avoid PSA in general, but I would absolutely avoid their AKs. Their piston JAKL rifle also has many issues. Any video I've seen from any guntuber who isn't a shill has mentioned problems with their JAKL, even if they still liked the rifle overall.

problem with US AK's is that people want them to be priced at $500 but an AK is a $1,000-2,000 rifle. The US gun industry is not set up to do mass stamping and riveting. We forge and mill or cast our guns here. The europeans went to casting because it was cheaper. The US has always been able to afford nice rifles, clear back to the 1850s (the 1855 Springfield was made to exacting standards by Army ordnance) with some exceptions like the 1870-80s.

They are far more fragile and finnicky then people seem to think.

They're still experiencing delamination issues. A guy on another forum had his 2-years-old EOTech begin to delaminate. I have several EXPS3s I bought during 2022 and 2023 and haven't had it happen to any of them, yet. EOTech is at least good at fixing the problem fast if you send one in for warranty repair.

They're definitely not as robust as a typical tube-style red dot. They're also not great for a home defense weapon due to having to manage the auto shut-off. I think the lower battery life is overblown by a lot of people, but it is an issue if you don't pay attention for the low battery reticle blink.

I love my EOTechs though. Big window that's more forgiving in weird shooting positions than the typical red dot, very clear glass, reticle looks nice and sharp with a magnifier, and plenty of daylight and NV brightness settings.

I'm trying to think of a LED red dot that compares well to an EXPS3, but most of the big window red dots are pretty unimpressive. The Sig Romeo 8T comes closest. Seems quite robust, but it should be considering it's 2 ounces heavier than an EXPS3.

Fuck, I am going to make it a personal mission of mine to reshoot some pictures. A lot of stuff in my gallery would be breadcrumbs to me.

So you'll just have to believe my words until then. Personal experience with PSA, my rifles, my students rifles, my friends rifles:

>Broken bolts

Can you explain why any of this matters to the 99% of the gun buying public who will never put more than 500 rounds through their gun? You know, PSA's target market?

I have nothing against the guy, he's very thorough and I do enjoy his explanations but because he introduced superficial problems that disrupt "optimal performance" and despite him warning against people chasing perfection he has pointed out things nobody would have noticed and do not affect actual performance.

You are gonna hear a lot of Mossberg because Remington basically killed their image in the last decade. Older 870s are solid though

The only 870 I didn’t like was one set up to shoot 3-1/2 magnum 12 gauge and had plastic furniture that did nothing to absorb recoil. Performed slightly less well than the semi-auto 10 gauge we were comparing it to. That said, 870s are definitely good and I keep a 20 gauge model under my bed in case something happens.

Do any of the readers of this thread live in or near Greensboro, NC? If any or one of you do, I implore you, go to the Greensboro Historical Museum and see if they have the Williams/Lisk .22 machinegun on display, because according to the linked below article, that was it's last known location as of May 28th 1994

I also recommend including used 870s in the search. A lot of excellent models from the 70s and 80s that were fired very little are around. If you can find a good condition Wingmaster from this era that's not fudd-inflated in price, get it.

Also, keep an eye out for a Remington Sportsman 12. Those are old 870 Expresses with a different name and very well made (if my one example is anything to go by of course). I picked it up at a pawn shop years ago and of all the shotguns I’ve owned and tried, it’s the one that served me the best, even though I bought it as a beater hunting gun.

Dude, congrats! Welcome to the Staccato family! You're going to love it. I adore my Stacatto P. It is one of the slickest shooting pistols I've ever shot. I definitely need to shoot it more, but with the RCR I can effortlessly put an entire 20rnd mag in the head of a silhouette target at 25yds. If you want any holster suggestions for it, feel free to hit me up. I know some great leathersmiths.

Well if it makes you feel any better the handgun I will have likely by the end of September is a Ruger P89, I’ve shot it before and I like it very much. I know people around here don’t like Fuddery but frankly I just don’t want a Glock. At least not right now

Not as pricey as you think. Get a Pietta or Uberti 1851 Navy in 44. Then get a Kirst Konverter. A couple minutes with a dremel for a loading port (if you want one) and it can now fire standard 45 ACP or 45 LC. It also (minus dremeling for the loading gate) is slap in. Meaning if you want to BP, you just take the new cylinder/loading gate/ejector rod if you put one on off the gun, slap the old stuff back in, bang boom, it's a smokecannon again. Kirst makes em for Walkers, dragoons, New Armys, etc.... The proprietor is a good dude, and the gunsmith they use if you want them to fit it for you is super knowledgeable and insanely helpful.

That is some excellent news, thank you very much for sharing that with me I promise as soon as I purchase one of these reproductions I will let you know. You may have to help me with the conversion process however, I am certainly no expert when it comes to modifying video games much less firearms

As has been stated before, be aware that firing a shotgun without ear pro indoors is fucking painful. No, it's not like a flash bang but I'd avoid it if at all possible.

I managed to find an 870 Express that was both in my price range and had the specifications I wanted. I believe that will be my next shotgun purchase if I decide not to go with the Mossberg 500 I am also looking at. Thank you very much for your suggestion

Should be fine unless there is weird rules in your area. A longer barrel will improve range, so if you are taking closer shots a 26” should be fine.

I live in Texas if you haven’t guessed yet and thankfully the shotgun hunting rules are pretty lax, so that means no length requirement and surprisingly enough no ammunition limit when hunting anything that doesn’t fly

That’s about it from me. Also, I did end up deciding on a shotgun: the Mossberg Maverick 88 that comes with a 28” barrel for if I ever go hunting. It’s in good condition and is priced about 295 dollars which is just perfect for me. I know it’s not the best model but don’t worry I intent to buy a much better shotgun once I’m done with school and have money to spare. Everything has stagnated. I was talking the other day with Mrs. McLongDong about how I don't know any 'young' car guys. We were driving, and looking around, and I realized that it's because there are no cool cars anymore.
No reason to fall in love with a machine if it looks like every other Mustvetteallenger SUV buttplug on the road. I like to think of myself as a car guy. Spent my childhood rebuilding cars and motorbikes with my Ol' Man. Could tell you the year of a dirtbike or a muscle car by the shape of the headlights.

But I literally cannot tell what any smoothed suppository on 4 wheels is now. My wife is better at it than I am. I'll point to a car on the road and be like, "Look at that goofy new mustang." and she'll be like, "I think that's a Cadillac."

This is shockingly common. I know people with a safe full of guns and they still have the same $100 worth of ammo they bought for it minus a magazine or two when it was novel and new. I don't shoot every week but it's crazy to learn that there are people that don't shoot in consecutive years except to sight in their gun come hunting season.

I've always been irked by the 3D printer gun community. I have seen so many stupid meme gun configurations and -aside from a select few people in the space- most treat it as a reddit meme novelty. I'd like to see something cool like that .22lr belt fed or something similar. Could easily make jigs for shit but I guess we'll get 100 penis furniture configurations for guns before we see one single advancement. At least that one STG 44 look alike was pretty cool.

That's what happens when the function is tied to the form unfortunately. Like mentioned above the same thing happened to the gun world: function is pretty much tied to the form so now we have AR 15 but with minor alterations.
