Played with one of the new Hi-Power's today. Despite my initial "Look at how they massacred my boy!" feelings, it is pretty nice. Mags aren't compatible with the classic Hi-Powers (too fat), which is an issue, if you have an old one, and it makes extra mags dependent on FN, which is gay. Shop had an old Portuguese Browning HP (I don't know which model, but made in Portugal, with an external extractor), in really good, almost $900 shape .I didn't feel like the asking price was out of line as it had a nice finish, no holster wear at all. The first thing that Portugal Hi-Power would absolutely need is a ring hammer, fuck that old bitey spur hammer, that nigger extends below the beavertail at the back of the frame, but its so nice that changing it for carry use would feel blasphemous, like "modernizing" a CMP 1911A1. Honestly FN leaving out a proper light rail and optics cut on the "new" Hi-power is strange to me, as it only really has a passing resemblance to a real BHP, may as well gone all the way to "modernize" it if you went through the effort to dump the mag safety, add a proper firing pin safety, and then changed the dimensions of the magwell to accept fatter magazines.
