Do you own a BowFlex®? Do you use it every day? Maybe you're a body builder and it's a bad example, the specifics aren't the point, the idea is. To a lot of people, a BowFlex® is something they stick in a corner of their garage and rarely use, not a hobby. Not hard to believe.

Someone is smoking crack at simpson's lmao. A beat up, war ravaged, no-finish-remaining Lebel with a pitted bore for 2k.

its very optimistic.

Continuing on with suppressors, Advantage Arms has a new one with some rather interesting claims surrounding it
Let me know if you can see what's wrong with this photo
1754954618012.webp
A few possibilities here

1. The people over at Advantage used a cellphone/Amazon decibel reader and are retarded enough to trust it
2. They have magical powers and can imbue the steel with fairy dust to break the laws of physics
3. Every other suppressor designer in the history of suppressors was basically a retarded gibbering idiot compared to the people over at Advantage
4. They are blatantly lying
Definitely numero 1. A bunch of companies with zero suppressor experience are gonna be appearing from the woodwork to get in on the $0 tax stamp gold rush.

I like odd cans so I went down a rabbit hole on their site.

They look to sell spare baffle stacks so you can "expand your suppressor length at a later date".
I'm sure the ATF will love...

They do have an interesting feature that uses washers to change to bore size on your endcap. Could easily replace vs buy a whole new endcap if you got a baffle strike.
Too bad he also keeps calling the washers a "baffle"; which ATF will also love.

I have been really gaining a growing appreciation for 380 acp in recent years. I know a lot of people have dismissed it as the wimpy cousin of 9mm, but with the increasingly effective JHP offerings on the market, and new micro carry options, I really think it is seeing a renaissance. Personally I have been eyeing the new Bodyguard 2.0 comp even though I have the standard model, just for shits and giggles. Anyone seen any reviews on it yet? A buddy of mine said that the comp actually did a fair amount to reduce recoil, but he only got to put one mag through it.

Everything has stagnated. I was talking the other day with Mrs. McLongDong about how I don't know any 'young' car guys. We were driving, and looking around, and I realized that it's because there are no cool cars anymore.
No reason to fall in love with a machine if it looks like every other Mustvetteallenger SUV buttplug on the road. I like to think of myself as a car guy. Spent my childhood rebuilding cars and motorbikes with my Ol' Man. Could tell you the year of a dirtbike or a muscle car by the shape of the headlights.

But I literally cannot tell what any smoothed suppository on 4 wheels is now. My wife is better at it than I am. I'll point to a car on the road and be like, "Look at that goofy new mustang." and she'll be like, "I think that's a Cadillac."
Firearms, games, watches. All the cool stuff that had to live or die by it's personality are all getting sameified, because the vast majority is okay with the slop. They don't want some crazy artwork design, they want it to look like an AR, but this one has a differently shaped ejection port.
Another reason why young men are losing interest in a lot of "manly" hobbies is because you can no longer really participate in the hobbies anymore. Not only are modern cars hideous, but you can't actually do even basic maintenance on them because they are designed to fail pieces of shit meant to implode the moment the warranty runs out. Tinkering is a dead skill because corporations and the government don't want you to be able to fix or improve anything. What's the appeal of being a car guy if you can't even change the car's battery or oil? You can't even change a headlight on new cars anymore without the manufacturer giving you permission. Similar problem in games, what with you getting banned for having fun "wrong", and watches have largely been supplanted by smart watches which are black boxes by design.

Part of it is also changing demographics, even if that makes everyone angry to bring up. When you were a kid, America was probably 80%+ white, and national behaviors largely reflected that demographic reality. Now it's 50%, with that much lower amongst young people, and browns simply do not have as much interest in cool stuff due to their lower intelligence. Guns, games, watches, etc. don't need to be unique or have a selling point because barely good enough, if that, is all they really expect from the world, and half the time they just want to flex on social media with their new accessory, not actually use or appreciate it. Literally every brown I have ever met with guns bought whatever looked cool or "hard" (or was cheapest at the pawnshop), took a few posts for social media, then never touched the thing again; there was never even a ghost of interest in training or learning about the firearm. Look at the average games a brown plays: sportsball, or some copy-pasted variety of CoD garbage that hasn't been good in 15 years and is just a glorified storefront. Demographics is destiny, and all that.

I handled a Shadow Systems 920 today.

I failed to see why it commands a premium over any other Glock 19, as its still just a Gen 3 Glock Clone inside.

Played with one of the new Hi-Power's today. Despite my initial "Look at how they massacred my boy!" feelings, it is pretty nice. Mags aren't compatible with the classic Hi-Powers (too fat), which is an issue, if you have an old one, and it makes extra mags dependent on FN, which is gay. Shop had an old Portuguese Browning HP (I don't know which model, but made in Portugal, with an external extractor), in really good, almost $900 shape .I didn't feel like the asking price was out of line as it had a nice finish, no holster wear at all. The first thing that Portugal Hi-Power would absolutely need is a ring hammer, fuck that old bitey spur hammer, that nigger extends below the beavertail at the back of the frame, but its so nice that changing it for carry use would feel blasphemous, like "modernizing" a CMP 1911A1. Honestly FN leaving out a proper light rail and optics cut on the "new" Hi-power is strange to me, as it only really has a passing resemblance to a real BHP, may as well gone all the way to "modernize" it if you went through the effort to dump the mag safety, add a proper firing pin safety, and then changed the dimensions of the magwell to accept fatter magazines.

If FN makes the new one in a "Glock 19 size" compactish version, I may just get one.... The new Hi-Power absolutely did have a better trigger than that old Portuguese BHP.

Part of it is a market thing.
Myself as an example, I'd love to get a bullpup. However, all bullpups are north of $1k, and most of them have varying levels of issues (accuracy, weight, etc.) That the AR15 just doesn't have while also being cheaper.
Everything looks like an AR15 or Glock, because both of those guns are really hard to beat, and are also really cheap.

I got my hands on one of those Girsan MC P35s recently, real cheap. Bought it because I was honestly surprised at how good it was for the price. Finish doesn't seem great and I'm no fan of Turks, especially when they get all uppity and put TÜRKiYE on the side of the gun instead of TURKEY. The old ones still spell it the bird way. I had an original Hi-Power, never should have sold it in hindsight, but my 1911 was a better shooter and of more personal value so I kept it.

maybe even a PWS.
Maybe? :(
As for watches, look into the wonderful world of micro brands/independent brands, they absolutely aren't afraid to just make "muh Rolex Sub clone #4" or similar.
Brief watch spergery: if you want mechanical innovation, it's damn expensive. Look at something like the UFA Spring Drive movements from Grand Seiko. Interesting, unique aesthetics are also damn expensive (AnOrdain, guilloche, etc.). I mention all this because a lot of the current market is similar to entertainment currently; same-ifed slop that's only increasing in price without any meaningful changes. This is true from any maker. It appears right now there are many decent watches under $5k. To get a legitimately better piece beyond that the price jumps to at least $12k+. Last piece of advice: something gets released that you want, do not jump on it right away. Wait a bit and it'll be easily found for a much better price.
considering how the market is 100% saturated with Polymer wonder 9s and ARs I do disagree. its centered around Millennials and Gen Xers
People buying for social media and not to actually train with/use their firearms. I am personally surprised by how many guys I'll meet at classes that I'll stay in contact with that just don't ever train what they learned.

No, child. It's not. Modernized FAL is the way. Enjoy subpar firearms.

Actually modernized G3 is the best
FAL fans will vehemently disagree but it appears the world's militaries will agree since the G3 platform has outlived the FAL as a DMR which I found surprising given how often I hear "FAL>G3".

Have you ever considered just bullpupping your AR? There's a few projects I've seen floating around to make that happen. Seems not too bad and all together comes out under $1k.
the halo magnum glock frame booligan (i think?) worked on is cool
It's a novelty which was kind of my complaint. It's nothing new, if anything it takes a Glock and makes it even worse. I can appreciate these kinds of clones but I'd much rather see a belt fed or weird folding gun than Fallout 10mm pistol brick shaped Glock.

Between DRM headlights, packed engine bays requiring disassembly to get at the starter and other fun tricks who WOULD want to work on their ugly new car? It's a pretty smart move if your top concern was wringing every last cent out of customers. I wonder when they'll make an oil change an insurmountable task.

It's because a lot of old men aren't father figures to young men, they're actively competing against them. A while ago I did a newbie pistol competition at a local range and it was like three teenagers with their ~40 year old dads using 22 pistols, four guys in their 20s-30s who thought they were hot shit buying a new gun, and six guys 50+ with pro guns entirely min/maxed for shooting paper. i had an old cz75 with no rail on it.

The young guys are trying too hard because they're desperately trying to engage with the elders' chest beating, they've got like brand new caniks and glocks with optics and compensators, but they're still going to get treated with kid gloves because the elders are busy using the younger guys as step stools so they can jerk off over what military grade flashlight to put on their stacatto so they can shoot paper better. They probably just thought I was retarded.

I wonder why that is. I definitely have never fired a G3 or any of its clones so I can't compare the two. Anyone have any input?

Nice. Was it a B model or the original 75 (like this one here)? A buddy bought a retro 75 not long ago and let me fire it. I liked it quite a bit minus the front sight and that bite-y fucking hammer.

The FAL's tilting block is not ideal for accuracy because, due to the single locking surface, it's not as tight or a consistent lockup as rollers or rotating bolt. It still gives appreciable groups as a fighting rifle, but not so much as a DMR.
Ergonomically, except for the absolutely terrible pistol grip angle, it's much better than the G3. You can use your index finger to release the magazine and drop the bolt on the fresh one as it's inserted using your thumb instead of manually locking open or cycling the action. Sidenote, I have no idea why people need an extended magazine release for their off-hand, it's silly. You wouldn't do that with an AR, don't do it with the FAL.

The G3 won out because it's cheaper and works well with good accuracy. Enough countries used them and stuck with them, and they apparently work.

Recoil impulse is very direct with little upward push which is nice.
The real element comes down to two main factors
1. Its absurdly cheap. The only milled parts are the bolt and carrier assembly, and the trunion. The receiver is stamped, as are many other components.
2. No gas system. The thing will run any ammo for any length of time, and theres no gas port to get dirty. Thats more reliability, and less maintenance. The fluted chamber aids in extraction making it more reliable still.

Its also worth noting that the g3 is a roller delay lock, while the FAL is a tilting bolt, which is inherently less accurate as a rule. The g3 is technically a lighter rifle, though IMO thats more of a wash.
Our favorite francophile did a video on the issue as well
