Wow, I shot a .38 by Charter Arms before and my face caught some shrapnel from it a few times in one cylinder. Needless to say after that I didn't care how cheap it was.
Alright, to me that implies it's some part of the firearm itself that deflects or guides shrapnel towards the shooter. That's some Saturday night special quality control. I found the manufacturer's website, and it's just as reassuring:
