I think one of the realizations you get as a husband and father is that no matter how based and cool your child or wife is, they do not have the same gun autism.
They may love to shoot, may love guns, may be decent at manual of arms, malfunction drills, dos and don'ts. But they will never have your level of autism.
You will always be the armorer for the home.
Cleaning and servicing all guns to make sure they work for her before I make my wife a hunting widow for a week, and I get to her EDC Beretta 84. She carries it every single day, bless her heart.
But this poor fucking thing. I swear I pulled out 40 pounds worth of little pieces of rubber band, dog hair, hair product shit. There was a random penny in the kydex from when it went in her purse. The gun still go bang, but my God.
That being said, my drunken genius idea of cutting some skateboard grip tape to stick to the side of the slide to make it easier to rack still working like a champ. Boys, you can buy a sheet of skateboard grip tape in 10 yards for like 10 bucks. You'll end up looking for reasons to stick it on a gun, trust me.
