That would be mighty tempting for me. For all the very good reasons the 10mm is not a great pistol round I sure do like it.

I honestly don't know why the caliber has absolutely exploded in the last couple of years. Has there been a massive influx of handgun hunting seasons in states/people hiking and scared of bears? It was borderline extinct when I started getting into guns and mostly just a hipster meme.

No clue about hunting or bears. I wanted one because I thought a heavier bullet going faster would be better to shoot people with. f

You know who would know? @Club Sandwich. That guy knows everything.

In my case it was Dad obsessively hand loading 10mm and telling me all about the latest thing he'd worked up that got me interested. He loved 10mm and .45 and only once had to replace parts because his loads were a "little to close to the line" and broke the wooden grip on his 10mm 1911.

Dude, FUCK PSA man what the fuck. I say this as an ardent defender of the JUSTASGOOD title but I am so sick of everything they promise being total vaporware. I bet money this is going to happen to the X5.7 too.
They're biting off more then they can chew, development wise. A lot more. They're originally an AR parts maker and now do good (in 7.62x39) AKs and make a nice enough Glock clone. Anything else is ...... A bit suspect.

The shotgun literally looks to be a "we can make a shotgun too" while Mossberg sells you a Maverick 88 for $250 all day and a nicer 500/590/Retrograde for a few hundred more.

The X 5.7mm.... ohh man that is probably a priority for them as it's in a pretty empty market niche.

NGL I'm selling my Dagger for a RXM as 1. I like Ruger a lot and 2. The RXM has the drop in fire control group so it's retardedly modular
If they're not insultingly expensive I'd be interested to try one too. Do you care at all about the ability to use a side charging handle?
It looks cool 😎 (although it's still not as good as a FAL/XCR or ACR charging handle)

The Sig 516 Gen 1 and 1.5 were excellent so as long as SIG doesn't fuck up the piston system..... It'll be at least that good 😊

I'm also 99% sure it still uses a buffer so it's not as "cool" as the MCX system/ AR-180 that let's you get that sweet sweet side folding stock action
I know exactly where you're coming from but I have to say if you want in-ear stuff nothing else even comes close. You for sure pay for it though I'd argue you definitely get your money's worth.

What do you all think about safari rifles and magnified optics? I'm personally not a fan. Now keep in mind this is coming from someone who's never been to Africa and has never hunted anything quite that large. I've yet to harvest anything at all with my one safari rifle.

I put a red dot on my CZ 550 and that's way better than the irons the rifles come with. I like the idea of fast sighting solution because one was able to stalk rather close to the animal, like what many men did with the old double rifles.
Ugh I know but funds aren't unlimited 😜

A magnified optic on a safari rifle? No more than 3x IMHO as you're usually not taking a shot on safari beyond 100 yards from what I've heard and read.

That CZ 550 is 110% on my to get list this year along with:

Seekins HIT Pro M3 6.5mm CM

AUG A3 NATO

PPK .32

S&W bodyguard 2.0 (plz make a .32 S&W plllzzz)

Maybe a long stroke 5.56mm rifle or upper that fits into an AR

Maybe a short stroke upper that fits into an AR

Maybe a .32 mag revolver (642 UC rubber grip or Charger Undercoverette or both)

One in one out:

Dagger for RXM

617 basic version for the 617 mountain gun

And that's it

There is demand for an effective semi automatic magnum pistol cartridge, and 10mm auto is really the only one on the market with any sort of meaningful adoption. 357 Sig was DOA, and things like 460 Rowland are too niche for normies to care about.

.357 Sig wasn’t DOA - it was an extremely popular cartridge with police for a generation and every major handgun manufacturer including HK USP’s and first gen M&P’s came in it.

Yeah that was on me for being a hyperbolic idiot, thank you for the correction. Regardless, that's my personal explanation for 10mm auto. I personally think 357 Sig is far superior to 10mm auto as a semi automatic magnum handgun cartridge, but unfortunately, the market did not agree with me.

The problem with .357 was the FBI went with .40 causing most LEO agencies to adopt it making it always play second fiddle. If .357 Sig is dead in the ground .40 is in the nursing home and its family doesn't visit it very much anymore because they don't want to confuses him.

I highly recommend a used one from 1995 and older. The tooling was still good and their QC standards were still high. Not hard at all to find good deals on these especially if you're not going for a safari caliber. Be warned their scope mounting setup is less than ideal.

I don't disagree with you here. I wonder if the industry thought of "magnum" automatic calibers and thought that should mean similar to magnum revolver loads. I bet Cooper was pretty high off his own farts at that period, too.

Still, I'm a 10mm fanboy.

my money's on it being due to fallout 3

I used to be a /k/ommando (before it just turned into Slavs screeching at each other) and people were always making memes about it being some sort of hammer of god round despite it ranging from just .40 to .357 magnum on most loadings. Of course almost nobody actually had one because you were pretty much just stuck with choosing a Glock 20 or no rail Delta Elite.

When I first started looking into guns in 2020/21, /k/ had me convinced AR10 > AR15 and 10mm > 9mm. Thankfully I did some more research before buying and settled on slightly more reasonable options(which I ended up selling after a few range trips).

On the online side its a lot of people who dont own guns/dont shoot and want to seem smart by going against the grain. In their theories 10mm can cover every handgun defensive situation from crackheads to grizzly bears by changing ammunition from the light .40s&w loads up to hardcast full power 10mm. Despite the online discussion I hardly ever see anyone with a 10mm at the range(not in grizzly country). The realities of ownership and use(firearms size, model selection, shootability, ammo cost, accessory support, etc.) aren't taken into account by online 10mm evangelists. iirc Null had some similar ideas when he first popped into the thread.

People decided to see how silly we can get with the zero dollar NFA fee,
If you plant a potato and grow 3 are they all the same suppressor?
do you really risk 10 years in prison for not engraving a potato?
I'm guessing this is going to be brought up in an NFA case within the year.

/k/ was always a shithole. It was less of one in the early 10’s though.

There's a lot of people in the gun community that have undiagnosed oppositional defiance disorder. Wonder if he's gonna remember he has to draft a letter requesting his tuber be removed from the NFRTR with documentation. Hope it was worth the magical internet points.

Ordered a CZ-83 since I had the itch for another fun range toy but am pretty well-stocked as far as "practical" guns go, so I've been looking at old stuff and weird stuff lately. That, and I'm already stacking .380 since picking up my Beretta 84BB.

I did not check beforehand to see what magazine availability is like and it turns out that they're pretty thin on the ground and not cheap as a result.

C'est la vie.

Okay, first of all you asshole

I think it's even more basic than that. I feel that a lot of people get a 10mm pistol and don't understand that their fundamentals have to be solid to deal with the increase in recoil. So either their grip is fucked and they start crushing the gun such their accuracy is trash or they shoot reasonably well but fucking slowly. Neither is good for use in a fight.

Then there's all the other stuff you mentioned.
