Have you never heard of Reflex suppressors before? They're fairly popular (The earlier KAC SR-25's, MK-12's, everything made by Allen Engineering, the OCM-5, some CAT Stuff, Euro Hunting rifles, a couple other american hunting rifles) and even gaining some ground, the MFMD is just the most reflex of all reflux suppressors, taking the concept to it's greatest extreme and supposedly having excellent performance.

Conventional reflexes aren't as efficient as normal ones in terms of OAL (the OAL of the suppressor not the entire system) assuming same length and diameter I believe, but Strategic Sciences has apparently stretched their CAD capabilities to the breaking point in order to usher in an era of next gen reflex tech.

You can electro plate it yourself using zinc nickel. People do it in their garage all the time for automotive bolts and it looks pretty close to gold. Alternatively you can thread the existing barrel yourself for about $150. So long as this diameter at the muzzle end is at minimum .500" you can easily thread it for 1/2 x28 yourself for the price of a pilot insert, die, die handle.

I have not. I've never looked deeply into suppressors until the last couple of months. I never had a reason to own one besides it being kinda cool. Looking into these, SMG/PCCs seem to commonly have custom made suppressors for them which doesn't help me but I can understand why.

I don't really have a lot of barrel real estate to work with unless I remove the handguard and then I create another problem where I need to get a new handguard. Unfortunately the gen2 and gen3 handguards aren't compatible (ask me how I know) with each other and no one specifies what they're compatible with - not even Kriss.

I only use grease on my pistols still. Heck, on just about all my firearms. XF-7. I'll miss it when I run out.

It's not that bad. It's all about your technique. If you really choke up on the gun and lock your elbows like we do with 9mm etc all that recoil goes right into your bones and that is what hurts. if you keep your arms loose and let the recoil swing them upwards like a lever it is not bad at all for the average man.

really what bothers people the concussion and flash, and they erroneously attribute that to recoil. proper good ear pro with magnum pistols can make the difference at the range for some people. in a real self defense situation or hunting you wont even notice the report or concussion in my experience.

An RC-2 adds about 3.8, this means you can now have a 15.3in Barrel with an MFMD for the same overall length, that means higher velocities, less flash (especially so with a theoretical optimized MFMD, which is possible because they're all platform optimized), less concussion. This coupled with high performance ammunition such as NAS-3 would either allow you to have even higher velocities or the same velocities while shaving off length.

I don't think SS can patent the concept of a direct thread reflex suppressor no matter how fancy it is, so assuming the the MFMD's perform as advertised I think HPRL as a category could emerge.

This is what the NGSW program should have been, this concept applied to a high end AR.

I'm still thinking about MFMD's and other theoretical "HPRL" systems. Take the OOW REAPR for example(a very aesthetic gun)

, in the more recent showcases and marketing material OOW is using an 8in Radical Defense suppressor that probably has a system weight of 28-29oz between suppressor and flash hider. Strategic Sciences doesn't list weights for some reason but we know a 5.56 1.3 OTB model weighs 15.5oz, so I don't think it would be impossible for an inconel .338 MFMD to end up between 28-36oz, which could be partially offset by setting back over the barrel

Just right there you're saving 5 inches, with NAS-3 or equivalent ammunition you could shave off another 1-3in of barrel length, while maintaining the Same velocities.

.44s are huge, a 3" 629 is about the same size as a commander 1911. If you're gonna carry a .44 go full dirty harry or go home. And by home I could mean USP45+recoil spring+ .45 super will have basically the same ballistic performance as .44mag out of a 3", twice the capacity.

Yellow zinc plating is zinc plating + chromate conversion. Zinc-Nickel is not the same process nor is the result the yellow/gold plating seen on some old car parts which can also be an old cadmium based process. This being a chromate, it's carcinogenic, and I wouldn't do it at home. The left over solutions are highly toxic and can be hard to dispose of properly as hazmat. Some humanoids would dump such things down a drain but I have no interest in humanoid behavior, I am fully human. For this reason I would pay a shop to do it despite being a highly self reliant type. I doubt a VZ barrel is high hardness steel but it's also worth noting that hydrogen embrittlement is a byproduct of these electroplating processes and that could pose a safety issue.

The .45 super duper +p will be mildly more challenging to shoot than the .44, due to the guns lighter weight and grip shape.
 
Dropped the hammer on an ultrasonic cleaner. Went with a Creworks 15L model. It's got six transducers, 360w of sonic power, 400w heating power, a degas mode, and it has a pretty fly black chrome finish instead of bare stainless. It also has a drain valve that I need to get a hose for. Looks to be large enough to clean two suppressors or the parts for two suppressors at the same time. Still need to get distilled water, a big ol' jug of solvent, and some heavy duty ziplock baggies for it. One recommendation I've heard is to fill the ultrasonic with distilled water, then fill the ziplock bags with solvent and whatever you're wanting to clean and make sure all the air is out of it. The ultrasonic vibrations will go through the ziplock bag walls and into the solvent with minimal to no loss of cleaning power. That way you use a lot less solvent.

If anyone else has experience with ultrasonics and want to share tips and tricks, I'd appreciate it.

Edit: that snubby Anaconda tickles me greatly. It would make for a really nice carry gun with defensive .44 Special loads. Fairly soft shooting, effective, easy to work with speed loaders, and .44 Special is known for it's good accuracy. I fuck with that.

If you dont already have an air gun, you should invest in it. You don't want to put away anything wet.
From my experience (with gun parts, not suppressors) it doesn't replace proper cleaning, but it does help with it. Just remember to re lube all the necessary parts.

You got the main one, ziplock bags are very economical if you have to use expensive solvents.

Ultrasonic cleaners do generate a surprising amount of heat so extra fumes are something you should be aware of. You mentioned yours has a heating mode but even if you aren't using that, your liquid medium is still gonna get pretty hot. Maybe not boiling, but still hot.

Its kind of a WELL DUH thing but its still something to consider.

I am a little surprised they didn't release a snub nose variant of their Kodiak first. The Kodiak is meant to be a defensive revolver - ported barrel, unfluted cylinder (for extra weight).

Remember that even though the "suppressors are safety devices!" excuse is a lame motte and bailey (plus, NFA shouldn't exist simply for constitutional reasons alone)- they really are good for protecting your hearing.

Doubling up on earpro only gets you ~36db NRR, after that the pressure wave is just going through your skull. If your rifle is putting out 160+db by default that's still ~120+db. Yes, extremely short spikes in pressure like a gunshot arent as bad for you as sustained noise level- but either way A can taking off 25+db is nice.
