Mega Rad Gun Thread

You sure about that?
If the scar is cheaper than the M4 why was FN charging north of $3500?
I can't find it now, but it was buried in DOD contracts for weaponry years ago. IIRC, it was around 600-700 dollars per rifle. FN was charging the government around $650 per FN-M4.

FN routinely charges 3-4x more than their govt. rates to us civilian peons.
what the fuck
Snub .44 mags are fun as hell, thats why. better for conceal carry as well.

The SCAR is the superior rifle to the Spear, and I'm tired of pretending that its not.

Should have just stuck to making the SCAR better than going with the MCX, for the single fact alone that FN isn't a Clownshoes shitshow of a company that sells weapons with pajeet parts that shoot people on their own.

But then again, FN is ran by white people, and Sig is ran by... (((white people))).
The newest SCAR is pretty cool. NGL is I had tens of thousands a year to burn of guns and gun accessories if probably get a new 5.56 SCAR today and be happy with it was my "not a piston driven AR" short stroke rifle. I'd of course also get a Caracal upper (get fucked H&K)

Too bad it took FN 15 YEARS to develop it vs the OG SCAR.

People used to be trained to teacup for accuracy. They even taught one-handed firing before that. Technique evolves.
That's pretty much how I was taught to shoot, minus the vertical thumb which admittedly looks quite bizarre. I actually had to transition to one-handed firing after that due to the rules of the competitions I was shooting once I started doing the invitational matches, very old-school I've come to learn

recently got my hands on an early us-built sig p226, looking for any tips and reccomendations on its usage. I am a big fan of the DA/SA era of late 90s, early 2000s.
I'd recommend you just go shoot it. If you've got an old cop surplus gun with burnt out tritium sights like me I'd recommend changing them out or at the very least blacking out the rear sight.

Your post motivated me to do something with my vz61 kits so I also bought a Tortort recvr and even another modern railed upper to play around with. Everything was just delivered so I haven't done much besides admire and compare with the de-milled cut-ups. I came across a snapshot of a blueprint of the original that I can't find anywhere so spent some time cleaning it up if anyone else might find it useful. They print great.

Talk me out of it Reddit!

Unrelated: anybody know where I can find a gold-plated threaded vz61 barrel?

Hold on now, FN sells the scar for like $4,000 and they can't even be bothered to make the FDE shades match up. It's one of the most overpriced guns on the market. You better slap triple parentheses on FN too.

Edit: do not accuse me of defending sig saar

There’s multiple gunsmiths that do gold plating and high polish titanium nitride.
The zip-tie cracks me up the most. Can't let anybody rack it without scraping off all that gold! I wonder what the guy would've taken to clear that square of table space. I'm very tempted to go back and ask :)

EDIT: Was it plated halfway-assembled? That front takedown pin didn't go in clean without any marks, trust me.

EDIT2: that's spray paint right?

Doesn’t FN still void the warranty if you mount a suppressor on them too?

Hello, I wanted to ask something rather important to the Americans in this thread. I'm a paranoid schizophrenic and I will soon (as in a couple of years) become a US citizen. The Eastern European country that I'm from doesn't have the best record-keeping and so my illness is not known to American authorities. Will getting diagnosed (again) in the US make me unable to purchase firearms?
After you legally acquire a firearm make sure to buy one of these for return visits to the shop.

I knew a dude who actually did this

We is also getting 15 round factory mags for G43X and

Wonder if Glock is going to roll this tech out to full size guns, Shield Arms was able to get another 3 into a G17 and G19 body respectively with a minimal length increase by going steel, PSA really did Glock a huge favor by invalidating Shield's patent.
The Implications of MFMD Style/ "High Performance Reduced Length" (HPRL) suppressors.

There has been a lot of buzz about the Strategic Sciences Multi Function Muzzle Device (MFMD) suppressor series, notably for their alien aesthetics, somewhat less for their supposedly stellar performance, but what I don't see discussed as much is their reduction in OAL and the implications of that.

On an 11.5 URGI an MFMD 1.3 adds less than 2/3rd of an inch

An RC-2 adds about 3.8, this means you can now have a 15.3in Barrel with an MFMD for the same overall length, that means higher velocities, less flash (especially so with a theoretical optimized MFMD, which is possible because they're all platform optimized), less concussion. This coupled with high performance ammunition such as NAS-3 would either allow you to have even higher velocities or the same velocities while shaving off length.

I don't think SS can patent the concept of a direct thread reflex suppressor no matter how fancy it is, so assuming the the MFMD's perform as advertised I think HPRL as a category could emerge.

This is what the NGSW program should have been, this concept applied to a high end AR.

Assuming you were to pair a 14.5in Barrel with a Surefire RC-4 Mini, your additional OAL would be 17.5in roughly depending on muzzle device choice. With an MFMD-1.3 you can have that same overall length but a 16.75in barrel.

Speaking of ultra high performance yet compact suppressor designs

Hmmm

These were the first suppressors I've seen that are over-barrel ones, but since then I've seen that Sonicore makes them too. The idea of re-gaining some OAL by sitting the suppressor back on the barrel is pretty appealing to me and now I want to get that style for my Vector to keep it as short as possible.

Unfortunately Strategic Sciences doesn't make anything that would fit except the fiddy (lol). Sonicore aren't rated for shooting the Vector on fun mode either.
