OLD 870s rock.
Reliable as stone and parts /accessories/mods for days.
Any 870 made in the last 15-20 years is sus IMO.
Does remington make anything that isn't sus now?

The 700 used to be THE standard. Now I wouldn't go near one.

FWIW I got the M88 and its a workhorse. A few hundred rounds through it and 0 problems and So cheap that I do not care what I do with it.

Late update, but someone I know who works in a lab who uses ultrasonic cleaners regularly said that instead of plastic bags, he uses glass containers. There's more considerations, like the type of glass, thickness, geometry, and also you have to isolate it from the edges of the tank, but it has advantages if you can't or wont do direct immersion.
I use a mason jar in mine. No problems.

GOOD NEWS FOR OLD GUN FANS!
The VOLCANIC repeating pistol is back via Uberti!

for 2027, and in .380 ACP
I came here to post this. I have wanted one of these things since I played Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood on my Xbox 360 in highschool. It's actually how I found out about Forgotten Weapons, because I was searching for more information on it. Those fucking Guido bastards can take all of my money.

i do not need your super sonic cleaner

I was a retard and bought a Winchester SXP Defender. Only the finest halaal Turkshit for me. In my defense, I was still quite new to guns when I bought it, and so far it runs fine so I haven't seen a reason to get rid of it. It's fun for shooting clays, but if I were to buy another shotgun, I would go for something a lot higher quality than either of those at this point. Maybe a Benelli M4 because muh tacticool.

The 500/590/88 is the champ due to a much easier disassembly and mostly because the 870 is a heavy bitch. Love them both though even if I only own a 590. Brownells currently has stripped new-old-stock 870(and other Remington shit) receivers if you wanted to go a more personalized route.

The current production 700 is good. The only downside I will admit is the bolt handle being soldered on but it's arguably better than retards thinking a screw through the bolt body is any better.

I was under the impression that the only good 700s were all the ones made by other companies as receivers that you build yourself.

Speaking of which, what 700 receivers would this thread recommend? Gun reviewers on this subject don't strike me as objective. I want to build a 20"-24" bolt action in the future as either .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor.

The venerable Winchester model 70, currently build in Belgium and finished in Portugal, is also a great pick if you want a very nicely fit and finished rifle. The new CRF model 70's are every bit the equal of the Pre-64 model 70s, and usually more accurate because free floating barrels.

The old Remingtons are quite good. model 700, the model 30 Enfield (the 700 is a simplified version of this rifle) or sporterized P14s (you can get these in all kinds of wacky cartridges like .45-70 so on)

Really, I think people should look to the used market before buying new. you can get VERY HIGH QUALITY bolt action hunting rifles for next to nothing compared to what they should be worth. you can get engraving, very nice wood, high polish blueing and iron sights for less than 3k in nearly every make, model and cartridge and a lot were built by hand by master gun makers.
R F Sedgley, Paul Jaeger, Weber & Markin, Paul Shuttleworth, Wyoming armory, trapper, Griffin & Howe (in plain variants) to name just a few can all be had for around 3k or less.

These rifles are just not very valued rn. buyers market.

the model 30 Enfield
I have one of these and they are really fun to shoot. Accurate, not too much recoil, all around good build quality for 100+ year old rifle. I had no idea the Model 70 was based off of it, is it also cock-on-closing too? I've really enjoyed that quirk of my rifle.

I'm thinking irons for my 8" 300 Kanye (blackout) gun. It's a backpack gun (same BP I bring to work etc) IF I ever use it I'm not taking sniper shots etc. I want as LOW a profile for a sight since it's a railed gun.
The solution I'd reccomend is Magpul MBUS Pro's

I'm a big fan of KAC standard BUIS (never tried the micros) but objectively speaking the MBUS Pro's are the best flip up sights on the market.

The KAC's when deployed will wobble a little front to back. It's not enough to actually matter but for $450 a pair it just makes you go wtf. The MBUS pros when deployed do not budge whatsoever. Not to mention MBUS quick switch between apertures, the KAC's you can remove the little plastic aperture to yield a larger one but it's not exactly done on the fly, and thats assuming you don't break it trying to remove it. Only thing MBUS Pro dont have is rear elevation adjustment but IMO that's a meme for BUIS. Luckily in your use case you dont need 600m on your rear sight.

Yeah like others said, a T2 or similar is the most effective choice of optic but in this type of setup IMO you are weighing the small chance of ever using it against the convenience of low profile and concealability. Even an RMR can be too much for something you're putting in your backpack.

Also consider the weight of the firearm inside the backpack, if you have a bare fabric bottom to the backpack it will likely concentrate the weight at a single point and poke the bottom out causing the backpack to look odd. Consider padding the bottom or structuring it with something stiff so the weight is distributed across the entire bottom and not at a single point. This assumes you are using a Jansport style pack and not a coyote assault pack covered in molle and morale patches that screams "I have a gun"

Remington is nearly bankrupt again. I don’t believe they are currently making any firearms.
They're on the shelves, which is why I count them.

For about $200 more, unless you get the Glenfield model.
For about $600 more, it should be better, yes.
You're going up and over one thousand dollars at this point.
I'll have to disagree, they've got shitty actions and haven't been relevant for ten years. Builders have dropped it since the 700 footprint took over.
It's a Japanese 700 which is why it's good.

I'm a big fan of and use this for my .300 BLK but I've heard that this too is worth considering. I'd consider these too but sounds as if you have this avenue covered already. You have a WML on this rifle, right?

Hell yes they do. I've squawked multiple times on here about my love for old, used Wingmasters from the 60s-80s. If we're talking new production it's the Mossbergs hands down.
